OYO Minerva Guesthouse

Booked a last minute break, reasonably priced and breakfast included - great location and super clean. Margaret was very welcoming and Owen served up a lovely full English breakfast. Liked the attention to detail - like a hairdryer in room, extra milk and variety of teas and hooks perfectly placed for towels by shower. Room was modern and fresh and plenty warm enough (maybe a bit too warm!) The lovely lady who served breakfast was very efficient and friendly - it was very busy and she worked very hard to keep everyone happy. Felt a little sorry for her as she didn't stop! Perhaps self service coffee/drinks, cereal and toast would help your staff and not keep customers waiting - the food was great. Would definitely come back - thank you 😊 🙏

The only thing we didn't like was the wait for breakfast. It didn't matter to us as we were in no hurry but it seemed like one poor woman was running around unnecessarily, taking orders, serving tea and coffee, making toast. Also no butter, marmalade or jam on tables for toast - more work for staff to find it! Think self service for that would make things more relaxed all round.

Hi We have spent last few days here & enjoyed it very much. The cleanliness of the Guesthouse is very good, the shower in our room spot on with the touches like the toiletries. I think in Room 11 a little light be put on the table under TV as I couldn't see in Mirror very well to put on bit of make up. Just to let you know also, the drawer unit in Room 11 under TV 2nd big drawer really sticks when you try to shut it & knob handle wobbly. Other than that excellent. Breakfast & fruit lovely. Margaret & Owen are both excellent hosts, warm friendly & both waitresses serving our breakfast helpful nothing too much for them. Finally, excellent location everything on your doorstep. Will definitely come again & bring family members.

As it was very hot the time spent there in Room 11 , not much air was coming in as it was at the back but the room had a fan & again spotless & bed comfy & great shower…….next time will ask for a sea view

Everything was perfect. The hosts were amazing. The staff at breakfast were fantastic. The food was perfect. Nothing was to much trouble. The rooms were far better than the pictures on booking.com. if anybody is travelling to Newquay the minerva guest house serves every purpose. We will 100 percent be returning and can't wait. Big thanks to the team for making our first holiday without kids so special. It was a shame to leave.

There wasn't anything bad to say about this guest house.

Some of the things we liked: Whole interior was very clean and beautifully decorated. My son being able to have his own seperate room within the room. Having a small fridge is a very thoughtful and appreciated addition to the room. Both sleeping areas had a TV and a fan. The shower was amazing. Breakfast was delicious - cooked to perfection. All staff were lovely. The pool table was fun and the table and cues are in perfect condition. The location of the guest house is approximately 10 minutes walk from the train station and the sea can be seen from the entrance!

Brilliant location. Truly in the heart of Newquay with loads of shops, restaurants, and cafes around. The view from just outside the hotel is breathtaking. The beach is virtually on the doorstep! Very clean and welcoming space in all and the pool table offered some good entertainment. As a family of 4 (3 adults and 1 child) The family room was excellent and fit us well. The owners were extremely warm and helpful. Breakfast itself was way beyond expectations, and Natalia, the lovely lady who served us, was so warm and efficient. It made our morning.

Only complaint - I wish we had stayed longer. It's the kind of place you don't want to leave.

Breakfast was good, with quick and friendly service. Ample choices. The location is the best part. Owen and Margaret are very kind.

The bed was comfortable but A new mattress would help. I really like the balcony and double doors, but it was warm and so we had to keep them open for airflow and our ceiling fan on. Apparently the ceiling fan vibrates the floor in the room above, disturbing the guest above this room. They asked us to turn off fan but that wasn’t possible. Owen provided a standing fan, which should be permanent in this room for the summer. The room needs better airflow.

We had an amazing stay at OYO Minerva guesthouse in Newquay! From the moment we arrived, the owners went above and beyond by surprising us with a room upgrade to one with a stunning sea view. The attention to detail was evident throughout the immaculate and comfortable rooms, making our stay truly enjoyable. The highlight was undoubtedly the delicious English breakfast that left us energized for the day ahead. Not to mention, the convenience of free parking just a stone's throw away from the guesthouse made our experience even more delightful. If you're looking for a memorable getaway in Newquay, I wholeheartedly recommend OYO Minerva guesthouse for its exceptional hospitality and top-notch amenities. 10/10. We will be back soon.

everything Owen and Margret excellent host , room spotless view from the superb . location just minutes away from the station (walk it in 3 minutes). staff were excellent nothing to much trouble and great knowledge of the local area. Breakfast was again excellent produce 10/10 . you had the bus station just a short walk away so you could travel around Cornwall for free if you had a freedom pass even if you didn't have a pass very cheap and reliable services. would definitely recommend to friends and family.

the weather

This little accommodation had amazing location, the moment you stepped outside you could see the ocean on your left, few mins walk to the beach and the harbour too. Margaret and the entire staff went above and beyond to make everyone feel amazing and nothing was too much for them, from the breakfast and the service to providing free water and chocolates and simply being lovely people. When I’m back in Newquay, without a doubt, this is the place I’d choose to stay in again.

There’s nothing that I did not like. Maybe one very minor thing would be lack of toiletries, but this is not advertised as being part of the facilities so I was aware of it.

Location was ideal, in the centre to all the local attractions. Parking was difficult as limited to off street parking but nothing the Guesthoust can do about this. Breakfast was nice, only slight reccomandation would be to make it self service as it would be alot quicker rather than the staff running around each table. Room was big and spacious, double bed was comfy but the bunk beds not as much but would be difficult to get another double in the room. Staff were friendly on arrival and during, the only criticism would be for the 3 nights we stayed the bed sheets were not changed and when we asked the question we were told only on the 4th day they get changed. Would come back again and recommend to anyone wanting a central location with family.
