The rooms are located above a rather pleasant and friendly bar just off the main street in Newquay. There is no street parking available however there are decent carparks within a few minutes, easy walk of the accommodation and are not too expensive. Our room was at the front of the property and was comfortable, clean and well provisioned including very nice, complimentary toiletries. There was also a small fridge in the room which was a very welcome addition. The staff at Selkies were both welcoming, friendly and helpful to us during our stay. Access to the rooms is available either through the bar area to the rear or, when the bar is closed, via a rear gate leading to the courtyard of the venue. There are steps up to a good sized, private decked area for the use of the guests and then through to the rooms.

The rear of the bar area that guests pass through to access the accommodation was a bit of a store room / overspill area and could do with making a little tidier and easier to negotiate if possible however, this does not detract too much from the other pleasant and clean areas of the venue.

The location of this boutique hotel is brilliantly tucked away on a side street but very close to shops, restaurants and cafes and most importantly to the beautiful beaches. We stayed in the King room in the attic a lovely sized room. We ate here on our 2nd evening, and the platter was superb. We opted for individual tapas and a cheese board. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly, helpful and happy to chat and inform of local places to walk.

It would have been great to have a breakfast or dinner option included with the booking as I'm sure loads miss out on the excellent platters at Selkies by going elsewhere for dinner.

Our room was spacious and nicely refurbished. Bed and bathroom were very good. Staff were busy when we arrived but welcomed us. Location is a short walk into the pedestrianised area of Newquay. We could get breakfast easily enough via a short walk to Costa (which was open early) and other cafes nearby opened at 9am.

Rooms are above the bar, which was very busy. Noise was more evident when people went outside, although good discipline was shown as things quietened down after 11pm. Access to the rooms is via a warren of steps. Reception is via the busy bar/cafe so when we arrived it was a bit awkward with all the drinkers milling around.

A hidden gem, ideal location and great sized room. perfect for what we needed! Great bar with amazing food - make sure you try the German sausage platter, you won’t be disappointed! The staff are so friendly and super accommodating (allowing us to stay an extra night when I got the check out date wrong 🙈) thank you so much!

Nothing to dislike, would and will recommend to anyone visiting Newquay and we will definitely be back again ☺️

Brilliant location, right in the town centre within walking distance to beaches and local amenities all the staff were very friendly, chatty and accommodating. Room was a good size and clean, loved the decor in the bathroom. They have just finished their sun terrace which was a lovely addition especially with the good weather we had! The bar was brilliant too. The hosts were great and offered us use of the fridge outside the rooms which was really useful, the room does get quite stuffy but there is a fan provided which is great, we had a beautiful stay here, could not fault it!

The only thing I would have liked is a shelf in the shower, personal preference just to put belongings on. There was some noise from the bar one night, but nothing major and this is to be expected when staying above a bar! We had a Perfect stay, thank you again selkies

The accommodation is room only, but there was facilities for making tea and coffee and it is right in the middle of Newquay with plenty of options to grab breakfast out. The room was very spacious and apparently we had the smallest room! There is a lovely little terrace that is a suntrap in the mornings and a great place to have a coffee. The rooms are above the bar and accessed through the bar or by the rear gate if the bar is closed. The bar itself was brilliant, very friendly - both staff and locals, they have a lot of activities on there like comedy nights, live music etc. They have a wide range of drinks available and do small bites to eat, which were also great. Emma and Steve are the owners and they were very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble and we had a fantastic stay there. Would definitely go back!!

Whats not to like….from the minute we arrived to the minute we left it was just perfect. Staff are amazing and cant help you enough. The locals drinking in the bar are so friendly, especially Matt and Cookie 🐕. Spotlessly clean rooms. Perfect location to enjoy Newquay. Would highy recommend. Top work guys 💪🏻

It was a lovely room beautifully decorated clean personal touches , the host in the bar was very nice chatty Informative and the meal we had was nice

Alot of money for no parking or Breakfast , said Breakfast was available from 9 to pay emailed no response had to find somewhere never opened, room above the pub very noisy on the Thursday night live music till late then carried on till gone midnight no one around to check out just had to leave the keys in the room

I cannot recommend this place enough! Me and my friend stayed for 4 nights and we had the most amazing time. The staff were super super friendly and the bar area is always full of locals who seem like family. The platters they serve in the evening are excellent, you cannot miss it while staying with them!

The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner was particularly nice and even found us a taxi when it seemed there were none available.

The after hours access could be a bit problematic for some people.
