I was overwhelmed, The Fountain is by far the best hotel now in Okehampton and quite possibly the best restaurant. They were refurbished within the last year and have retained all the character, but made the place warm and comfortable. They even have a large carpark. We initially booked for three nights, but extended for a fourth. Breakfast was very good and we dined in the restaurant for three of the four nights.

I couldn't find fault with anything.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and the surroundings for it were comfortable. The ground floor areas of the hotel were reasonably smart, with options for sitting indoors or out. We ate in the hotel bar in the evening and found the food was well cooked and well presented. The room had a smart modern bathroom. We had been a bit concerned about road noise, but this didn't prove a problem.

Being an older building some parts of its decor were rather jaded, especially where the roof appeared to have leaked at some point in the past. Shortly after we had rung to book a table and confirmed that we were staying, we were surprised to received an e-mail asking us to confirm that we would be taking up our booking. The evening menu, whilst reasonable, did not have anything on it that was different enough from typical pub menus to tempt us to eat in for a second time.

Breakfasts were very good served by friendly staff. The family room was a very good size and suited our purposes very well. The location was great and allowed us to venture out on day trips in Devon and Cornwall.

Fresh fruit would have been a nice addition to the breakfasts. The large family room allowed for more furniture but there were only 2 chairs for 4 people and no luggage racks/counter space to place suitcases for easy access. The beds were very comfortable but no mattress protectors and the skimpy sheets on the single beds would not stay tucked in. The sheets were a nice fragrance free cotton though. Unfortunately there was a plumbing issue and we had no hot water for 24 hours.

Very good breakfast, good choice and happy to provide extras if requested. Restaurant menu good and well prepared. Friendly bar with excellent staff. Popular with locals, which is always a good sign. The management is quite new and have made a lot of improvements have been made to what is a pretty old building. Very happy with this Inn and would certainly say again

Nothing. There is still work being done, which will only improve what they already have and provide, but that does not detract from the place.

This a lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was very busy, and the owners were away, but the staff still gave 1st class service, particularly Ash on the bar and checking us in. Our room was very clean and a fan was provided which we needed. The breakfast was amazing, one of the best we have had in a hotel. On site parking is a bonus, and the location is great. We walked about 15 minutes to oakhampton Castle, which was very interesting. Will definitely return to this hotel.

The room we was in was nice and clean and very big for the three of us we really could not find fault with the room, there was even plenty of tea and coffee enough for at least 4 cups each, we had our tea there and food was lovely well priced and good size portions. The Breakfast was lovely my partner had a full English I had a little English and my son had a bacon roll. The size of the breakfast was just right and the bacon roll was massive but my 8 year old was at it all and said it tasted good. The Wi-Fi was really good as well we had no problems while we was there. We would recommend the foundation inn to anyone.

The only fault that we could find was trying to find the parking round the back of the pub but as soon as we did find it there was plenty of space and very secure.

The Fountains is an old coaching Inn situated next to a picturesque river in the centre of Okehampton, a short walk from shops, amenities and Dartmoor National Park. Large carpark away the road, and friendly helpful staff.

A very minor niggle, a full length mirror would be great, otherwise everything in the bedroom was spot on. great fluffy towels, very comfortable bed

Right in the centre of town. Busy pub but can't hear noise upstairs. Great staff. Ashley needs a mention for his lovely helpful manner but other staff were brilliant. Didn't eat in the pub but a good menu. Would stay again. Great price

Nothing too complain about. The key in the door was stiff but what do you expect from an old coaching Inn. Steep stairs.to room 1 and 2 so should have asked for a room lower down

Location excellent. Staff friendly and attentive. Facilities good. Lovely outside space and private parking. Excellent evening meal. Live music on Saturday night a bonus. Recommended.

Had room 5. Freestanding wardrobe unit very close to bed so not much room to manoeuvre however bathroom enormous. English breakfast very cool and overcooked. Disappointing when everything else was great.

The reception from staff was without exception a wonderful experience, welcoming and friendly to us all and this continued throughout our stay. They were very accomodation and I can fully recommend this establishment.

There are steps so mobility could be an issue for a few people. However the staff are very accomodation with assistance.
