Stunningly arranged and decorated, every corner felt loved. The bedding made locally from local wool was delightful, so comfortable and gave the room a soft aroma. Judy, the owner, as well as her husband Jonathan, were the perfect hosts. Attentive and helpful, while still giving the space for privacy. So many details attended to and shared. The breakfast is fresh and made to order with local farm eggs. And the honey is actually from their own property! While still being able to enjoy the country side, Lydford house is within walking distance of a the perfect English pub, The Castle Inn, as well as another restaurant and many different walkabouts and hikes. I loved this place immensely, and look forward to my return. Simply can’t recommend this place enough!

Nothing to dislike, it was a brilliant stay.

Our hostess, Jodie, was spectacularly helpful - starting a fire in the lounge for us, taking our shopping and putting it in the fridge and texting us to let us know, wonderful breakfasts. Thanks Jodie. The house is lovely and interesting. The location is perfect for walking as there are a number of options directly from the property. For instance, we walked to Okehampton on the old railway track and caught the bus back. Also some great places to eat as directed by Jodie. Plenty of parking.

All good.

The house is set in a stunning location and is beautiful. The owner, Jodie was very warm and welcoming and very knowledgeable about the area and its history. The room was clean and very comfortable with a lovely shower and bath. The room was well stocked with tea, coffee and water. Fresh milk was also available every day. The breakfast was delicious every day and the honey made on the farm was to die for! I was delighted I could buy some to bring home. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return later in the year.

Easy to check in. Loved the huge lounge downstairs lots of seating areas and a large log burner. It felt like visiting a country house. We had a four poster bed, very comfortable mattress with crisp white sheets. Whole place was spotless. Delicious breakfast, freshly cooked, plus cereals and pastries. My husband particularly enjoyed the fresh honeycomb honey. Friendly and efficient staff. Enjoyed seeing the chickens roaming the garden. Perfectly placed for exploring Dartmoor. We enjoyed cadaver bridge and burrator reservoir

It's not a reflection on the hotel, but I'm awaiting a knee replacement so find a shower over a bath a bit tricky to access. But my husband had no issues.

This was our 4th visit to Lydford House and again we were not disappointed. We love Lydford House and the area, the rooms are beautifully appointed and a great breakfast is served. The owners are very friendly and welcoming so we will be back again.

It is a real shame there is no restaurant anymore but appreciate it is now open as a guest house. However there are two excellent pubs within walking distance.

Everything was perfect . We only had B & B ... Every morning juice, fresh coffee and tea as we arrived in dinning room ,buffet bar included warm croissants, selection cereals ,breads, jams yogurts, best bit was natural honey in a large comb from there own hives, delicious. Then followed by a fabulous cooked breakfast which included eggs Benedict or scrambled with smoked salmon or full traditional the choice was yours all cooked to perfection

Lydford house is so much better than a chain hotel. The hotel is family owned, and we were dealt with throughout by the owner. The service could not be faulted, and I have no hesitation in recommendiing this establishment to other couples. A small hotel of very high quality!

Nothing!

The location was lovely, close to the village amenities. Breakfast was amazing with a good amount of choice. Nice that the owners use their own honey, eggs etc for breakfast.

There was not anything that we did not like.

Lovely place to stay, the property was decorated & furnished to a very high standard & immaculately clean. Room was very big & bed very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, cereals, owners own honeycomb & an extensive menu for hot home cooked food. The location was excellent for exploring, plenty to see & do & 2 pubs/restaurants, serving great food approx 10 minutes walk away. The owner was very welcoming & made our stay a real pleasure.

Nothing

Gorgeous location with really unique and homely rooms. Not to mention the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating too. One of my favourite hotel experiences in a long while and will not hesitate to visit there if I'm back in the area.
