It is a fabulous old hotel that has a warm and welcoming interior and beautiful grounds. There were snowdrops everywhere! The staff are all very friendly and caring. We had booked the suite and it was amazing. The food is superb. Dinner is a tasting menu of 7 courses every night and each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The waiters with their white gloves were a lovely touch too! The hotel is very close to Peebles and there are plenty lovely walks in the area. The Tapestry of Scotland is a short drive away in Galashiels and well worth a visit.

Nothing. We will return again for sure.

Cringletie is a luxurious location set in the Scottish Borders a few miles from Peebles. A first class example of Scottish hospitality the property is located in a tranquil setting where you can enjoy all the best of attention ensuring a fantastic stay. The suite we stayed in 'Melrose' was spacious and immaculate with very comfortable bedding. Complimentary tea, coffee and whisky was available in the room which was serviced daily to a high standard. The restaurant provided outstanding food cooked and presented to a very high standard with local produce and served by attentative, friendly staff . I have been fortunate to have visited Cringletie before ,the standard continues to be outstanding.

I found Cringletie to exceed my expectations and had no issues the staff made my stay completely enjoyable.

From the minute you drive up the long drive to the house which is all lit up you feel welcome. The staff (Victoria) were at the door to meet us with a warm welcome and show you to your room and explain about the hotel and the restaurant. The room is a classic old style room but with modern creature comforts and well laid out. Lots of nice touches left in the room for you and we had ordered wine to be delivered to the room and it was waiting there for us. Now the food was nothing short of first class and the restaurant is well laid out and the staff (Barry) were so attentive and explained everything and even had time for some friendly chat between courses. The menu apparently changes daily and you can pick individual courses or go for all seven courses. We went for 5 each and everything was perfect. The breakfast the following morning was brilliant and that was followed with a walk round the grounds which looked amazing due to the fresh snow everywhere. The hotel obviously prides themselves on customer service and while you do pay for that high level of service, it is worth treating yourselves every so often. So yes we would recommend the Craigletie house. Thank you.

I am sure the hotel will address but just some of the paint peeling off on the bathroom ceiling made it look a bit drab . However that didn't spoil the overall experience.

I liked the car park. I like touring holidays and it suited my Porsche GT3. The hotel was awesome. The staff were excellent particularly for our tasting menu dinner. Food was great (we had lunch and breakfast too). We enjoyed one of the walks around the grounds and it was a lovely and relaxing place to visit.

Our room only offered a shower over bath and they seem to always flood the place! I prefer a dedicated shower, but it is an old building so this can be tolerated of course.

The property is absolutely stunning. Breakfast was wonderful.

The room was only adequate. The shower had a handheld that kept flopping down and spayed all over. And the drain kept plugging. Needless to say I had to clean up the mess. The dinner is definitely not worth the price. Again, only adequate. One dessert was a very dry (old) 1x1” square with less than a teaspoon of sorbet on it. Very pricy for this property. You’re paying for the ambience. Not the quality.

We stayed only one night and will definitely return for at least two. It was a pretty wet early November break. We loved the log fires in communal areas and the warm welcome. The room was beautiful, shower was fabulous, linen and towels just perfect. Attention to detail with welcome note and GF biscuits. Staff were all fantastic. Really going above and beyond to make our stay special. We had evening meal which was incredible. GF allergy catered for. Breakfast was wonderful too. It was wonderful to walk around the grounds that are maintained very well.

Breakfast was very good, with a good selection, well presented and served by attentive accommodating staff. All staff were very friendly, and very aware of how to help us with my wife’s wheelchair. Was very impressed that Bill the owner made a point of talking to all the guests personally to make sure they were enjoying their stay, and also came to see us away at the end of our stay. The individual attention to all guests was worth the cost of the stay.

The bathroom in the junior suite was a little tight for the wheelchair. The more wheelchair accessible room was not available but the reception have made a note in their records to try and make sure that on any subsequent visits to give us the fully accessible suite if it’s available.

Friendly, like being home and no pretentiousness or arrogance. Amazing staff and one of the most peaceful places I’ve been to. Rooms are beautiful and the dinner and breakfast were excellent.

It was everything I was looking for. The little touches in the room and attention to detail made it a place I will most definitely go back to.

We really enjoyed our stay at Cringletie and would love to go back one day! It was easy to take the bus from Edinburgh since there is a bus stop at the base of the driveway. We walked into Peebles on the new path and that was great. We did cab back at the end of our day in Peebles. I can see how having a car would be more convenient for a longer stay but we were not bothered. Cringletie has a selection of lawn games to play and a garden and outdoor paths to explore, so there is plenty of entertainment on site. We ate the 9-course dinner in the restaurant and thought service and food were excellent. Overall, this was a really wonderful spot.

Nothing stands out worth mentioning.

Friendly staff and very comfortable place. The breakfast was one of the best we’ve ever had. Super porridge with a mini decanter to add a wee dram on top. Next level! It was a nice touch that the owner came to say hello. All in all it was extremely hospitable and we felt very welcome although we were only there one night.

I thought the rooms were overheated but this is probably down to personal preference. It was miserable weather outside but certainly cosy indoors.
