Good attention to detail, lots of nice little touches like high-end toiletries, good quality tea and coffee. Bed was comfy and it was all very clean.

Unfortunately my room was very small and very dark, and it was located up a steep metal staircase. The weekend I stayed the weather was very warm and the room was extremely hot and stuffy. The only way of cooling it down at all was to open the window, which faced onto a fast road and which was also located directly above the entrance to the beer cellar, so the choice was between heatstroke or being kept awake by the noise (I chose the latter).

Breakfast was amazing beautiful English brekkie

We booked the welldiggers back when it opens for our wedding party - it was brand new and immaculate then Now 7 years on …. It’s a bit tired . The carpet in our room was filthy sadly - and with a baby in tow we couldn’t let him go on the floor Also realised dogs had been in our room as I’m asthmatic and the hair set my asthma off The room needs a fresh lick of paint too Aside of the above still a beautiful place to stay - great location and the staff are lovely especially Dan who couldn’t do enough for us - a lovely guy. I think we were just spoilt going there when it had just opened and it was immaculate and 7 years later it’s a little worn

Really welcoming pub set within beautiful countryside. Our bedroom was very comfortable and had everything that we needed - including a fabulous hot tub, which we didn’t need but was very welcome! Food in the restaurant was superb. Incredibly dog friendly too which really made our stay perfect.

A couple of very tiny points which meant I didn’t give it a 10/10… Firstly, the carpet in our room had quite a few stains. I appreciate this happens, and the room was in no way dirty at all, but it does spoil the overall aesthetic of the room which was perfect in every other way! Secondly, the walls are quite thin between the rooms which means we heard every syllable of the phone conversation between the woman next door, and the pub staff, when she couldn’t get her shower working at 7am. again, not the end of the world but just a little irritating

Was welcomed warmly for a one night stopover. Our room was above the pub but well insulated from traffic and restaurant noise. Very cosy. Bed was super comfortable. Bathroom was roomy and shower pressure great. Added bonus of checking in, then sitting in the beer garden watching the sunset and hot air balloon in the distance across the fields. Very serene setting. Tasty and lovingly cooked dinner and breakfast served in the restaurant. Would highly recommend.

Not walking distance to the local town but a short drive.

Location and views of the South Downs fantastic. Having breakfast in the restaurant looking at fabulous view and with deer grazing in the adjoining field was memorable. Needed to breakfast early on Sunday as going to a christening. Staff very helpful and accommodating.

Outside stairs up to room felt slippery when wet. Had room on road side. The road was busy and no views. Bed too high for us. Room could have done with better lighting. Difficult to read in comfort.

Nice rooms converted from stable blocks. Personal addressed information letter with welcome pack nice touch. Tee and coffee good and being able to get fresh milk.

Pillows bit flat. Bathroom/shower although very nice no grab rail to get in and out so not great for older less mobile folks. Couldn’t really leave windows open for air during night and sound proofing not great could hear next door quite clearly.

it is a charming roadside inn and pub with approx 15 rooms. I stayed in the main building on the front (road) side and the room was spectacular. large king size bed, usual (basic accoutrements). The bathroom was huge with a skylight, modern clawed tub (made of fiberglass), and pull chain toilet (this one was a bit tricky to flush). Charming old (non working) safe in corner made a good luggage rack. As usual, no AC, but there was a fan. The window opened but occasional cigarette smell from those pooping out of the pub for a smoke, and a large stain on the rug. otherwise lovely

The rooms were well kept, clean and pleasant and the location is wonderful, the restaurant views are very special! The breakfast was excellent and included. The pub has lots of rural charm!

The room was pleasant but quite small though we were happy at the price. The restaurant was sadly very expensive but I imagine they have the disastrous post Brexit staff crisis everyone in the sector has! (Economic suicide)

The room was good - medium size - reasonable view. I would recommend upgrading to a superior (and these will accommodate a dog) as the views across the countryside are stunnning. Cheaper rooms tend to have a restricted view or be overlooking the busy road., Breakfast was pleasant. The manager (Matt) was a star. Staffing varied. Quite a long way out of Petworth but we managed to walk it (bus back stops outside) - Dinner is pub style food and nice.

Breakfast - both days the wrong choices arrived and we had to wait for them to be corrected (which they did) - Carpets could do with a clean and when on holiday I do like the towels that I have left on the floor to be changed rather than having to hang them up when I get back.

Lovely stay at the Welldiggers Arms whilst attending a course. We stayed with our dog and the place was incredibly dog friendly. She was delighted to receive a sausage for her breakfast each day and was even given a little bed to sit in while we had our evening meal which was a nice touch. The meals we had two nights running in the bar were fantastic, and the view is beautiful. Staff were attentive but not stifling. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The bath was lovely.

The room was comfortable but a little lived in re carpets especially. It had obviously been cleaned and maintained as well as possible but being dog friendly does take a toll.
