October 2024

The room, and staff, exceeded my expectation, very clean and spacious room, tea and coffee and biscuits in the room, as was bottled water in the mini fridge, but best touch by the owners for myself, was a pint of fresh milk and mini boxes of cereal in the room, with bowls and spoons, never had this facility before in any other establishments, as I had no time for the cooked breakfast, this allowed me to have a small breakfast and get away early to be on site for 7-7.15am, absolutely marvellous..!

Whilst the room and the staff were great, I will point out a couple of noise issues with did disturb my sleep, bit of road noise, but not too bad. The mini fridge was quite noisy switching itself on and off, I cured this by unplugging it during the night and replugged it back in in the morning. The second night, someone was staying in the lower room, not sure why but the central heating which on the first night was quiet, was suddenly quite noisy, as was the person below, seems the floors are not overly sound proofed or a it was just a noisy inconsiderate guest staying down there.

Room was very homely and cosy, and very clean- well equipped with lots of additional extras, such as cereals, fruit, bottles of water, variety of teas and hot chocolates. We were only stopping for sleep at this hotel following a wedding but had we have been there longer it would have been just what we needed! The breakfast was amazing, probably one of the best full english breakfasts we’ve had.

The only problem we had was not one taxi company would do a local taxi and therefore we were a little stranded at one point and unable to collect our car from the wedding venue. We had asked the hotel staff if they were able to drop us off (5 minutes down the road) and understand they could not leave the premises- however with extra staff this could be handy!

Fabulous breakfast with great coffee, choice of cooked breakfast all cooked beautifully with top quality ingredients. A great evening meal too, the fresh trout salad was delicious, the best and the steak and mushroom pie was very good too accompanied with a range of hot veg and super chips. Clearly a wonderful chef using fabulous ingredients. Small bottle of fresh milk in the room fridge for those who like fresh milk was a nice touch, fresh fruit in room and a comfortable bed. A lovely stay with lots of nice little touches, we would definitely visit again.

The shower in our room does need the very small pockets of mould dealt with before it worsens as it does take away from an otherwise decent little shower room. A towel rail, if I was being picky, would be great for anyone staying more than one night.

I picked the Cricketers Arms for its location to a wedding venue. I didn't realise we had the whole accommodation to ourselves but this was absolutely perfect because we basically had one to one attention. The rooms were excellently furnished and the bed was super comfortable! Super choice of tea and coffee facilities and real milk, none of this UHT stuff! Also not that we had any but if you were feeling a bit peckish, there was a selection of cereals you could help yourself to. Full English breakfast was cooked to order and delicious! Staff was really attentive and friendly.

Tiny negative but the shower is quite compact, perfect for me because I am only 5ft 3.5 but it was a tad small for my 6ft + partner and the temperature of the water was difficult to get hot enough.

Easy to find, quiet, very friendly and helpful staff. Beds were comfortable and good water pressure in the shower. Milk and cereal in room in case you needed something before breakfast. Nice pub where we ate dinner. Breakfast is also in the pub and was delicious.

Really no complaints. Suggest a mirror over dresser since no outlet in bathroom for hair dryer, We had the upstairs room. Stairs are narrow and a bit of a problem with larger luggage, but we managed ok. Might also suggest a towel bar by the sink for the hand towel.

Great hotel, plenty of atmosphere run by friendly owner and staff. Good food and drinks and service. Our room was part of a newly renovated barn or store converted into two available rental units which were bright, clean and airy with good bathroom and shower facilities and a comfortable bedroom. Parking is off the road in front of hotel and free. The breakfast was also very good next morning!

All good, no complaints.

Proper cosy country pub, loved the room, quiet and comfortable, great nights sleep. Food was amazing, all locally sourced, and breakfast was exceptional! Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble, will definitely come again 😊

Everything was perfect. The only thing we could suggest is maybe bigger towels, for those of us with a fuller figure 🤣 but this did not tarnish our stay one bit.

The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. There was a small fridge in the room with fresh milk, fruit and cereals. A freshly cooked breakfast was served in the bar every morning. The the breakfast was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble.

There is only one small window in the bedroom which made the room a little dark.

Great communication before we stayed, very helpful and friendly welcome. The room was clean, fresh, spacious and comfortable. Cereal, fresh fruit, fresh milk, tea and coffee were all waiting for us in our room, which was a wonderful touch. The cooked breakfast was quality locally sourced produce and tasted delicious. Ample free parking on sight. Lovely quiet location. Excellent value for money. We loved our stay!

beautiful location, although off a main road, it was quiet. Accommodation was impeccable, a converted grain store. clean, tidy & all the usual accruements you would expect in a bed & breakfast, although the fresh milk did make a big difference from the usual complimentary UHT milk. The attached pub provides lovely, tasty home cooked food. would definitely recommend.
