Me and my partner were staying for 2 nights, the room was super nice, can adjust the heating fine and also open the window. The bed was so comfy and big, the shower was so nice, big enough for 2 people. Was nice to have a gym available. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Going down for breakfast was really relaxed vibes and the food was very tasty. They also have gluten free options. There was a very nice guy who served us and I wish I got his name to thank him properly. The housekeeping team were great also. Even after checking out there’s plenty places to chill and relax without feeling like you need to leave and we were offered a drink numerous times.

Absolutely nothing

Very fancy hotel. Chic interior and the best smell somehow throughout maybe a mix of clean, grill and bar perhaps but smells good! The people were great both other guests who were friendly and staff who went above and beyond to make our stay the very best. We enjoyed an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel and thought it was the very best we’d had. The food is just the next level. Really do recommend for anyone business or pleasure. The rate of the hotel also doesn’t do it justice of how good it is! Value for money. Well located 5 mins from the train station for city visits for £5 each return and situated in a lovely part of Queensferry.

The only negative is that we couldn’t stay longer!

Nicole on reception helped me book taxis to a wedding before we arrived at the hotel, she was on reception when we arrived so friendly and polite. Great location to the city. Our bedroom was so comfy and cosy, bathroom shower was amazing and toiletries. We had dinner in the restaurant in the evening, our meals were delicious all three courses so flavourful, service was exceptional. Complements to the Chef. The best steak I have eaten and the peppercorn sauce delicious. the staff were so attentive and friendly. Our breakfast was delicious both mornings we were there and served by friendly staff. Cant rate this hotel enough, we will be back.

Not one fault that we could find.

The young lady on the front desk when we arrived was an absolute breath of fresh air! I am sorry that I didn’t get her name, but she had long dark hair with sparkles in it. She was the most friendly, smiling, accommodating staff member that we had dealt with on our month long vacation to Scotland. We also dealt with two of your Bar/ Wait staff and they were also very pleasant.

We understand that the lighting in the rooms is to follow with the style of the Hotel, but we found the room to be too dark, lighting wise. With the dark walls and low lighting it was difficult to see things properly. The only thing that I found to be off putting was the black mould grouting in and around the shower in our room #324. It really did put the rest of the Hotel down.

A delayed flight meant we were checking in at 2am. When we got to the hotel, we were checked in and up to our room in less than 10 minutes. All the staff we met during our stay were so lovely and helpful. The room was lovely and the bed was so comfortable. We paid £120 for the night, and it was definitely worth it. Check out was 11am with the option to extend that to noon for £15 or 1pm for £30. Loads of parking on site, a comfortable lounge, and restaurant. £50 deposit was taken when we checked in to cover a late checkout or other services. This was returned the following morning on check out.

Not a single thing.

Staff helpfulness excellent, their general attitude and approach was wonderful, always with a smile 😊 so friendly. We had the sirloin steak both evenings and I can honestly say the quality of beef was superb and the way it was cooked was fabulous, the flavour on the plate with sides was sensational….. thee best steak we have had in a long long time!!! Full marks to the chefs table service was excellent and we had a bit of craic with them and bar manager.

Mattress was a little hard for our liking, would have liked to have had more fresh fruit selection/choice at breakfast. Interior at reception/ dining room is dark and some natural light would be nice.

Excellent room with fantastic facilities. Sky TV in room, Nespresso, kettle, iron, mini bar, desk, toiletries and Wi Fi worked well. Very comfortable bed and bedding and nice towels. Great view of the Forth and walking distance to the town. Tesco supermarket next door if needed. Bar menu was limited and quite expensive but food was good. Staff very polite, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a little limited in options but what there was, was very good. Well maintained hotel throughout.

Needed hoovering under the sofa and table in the room as it seemed to have been missed.

Everything was so good, hotel room size and decor great, big comfy bed, amazing shower, huge shower head plus separate hand held for hair, easy to switch between them at the push of button, the bathroom itself was excellent. The restaurant is very good, at 1st we were a little disappointed that they had a Sunday menu which only gave the choice of 1 steak which was rump but it was the best rump steak we've had, our server was lovely, sat at the bar after for a cocktail and bar server was very good. Overall it was the best hotel we've stayed at in several years, we have been thinking of a trip for next year maybe that could incorporate one of their other hotels

Nothing really to dislike, only slight negative was when drying my hair I had to crawl under dressing table to plug in hair dryer

I stayed at the Dakota several years ago on business and was impressed then, and when looking for a Hotel near Edinburgh airport it was an easy choice. Most importantly it didn't disappoint, the staff were all very helpful and pleasant, the meal in the restaurant was fantastic and the nicest meal we had during a 5 day stay in the area and the shuttle service to the airport was spot on. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Dakota to anyone and thanks team for a very nice stay.

The air conditioning unit might have been a bit faulty, but not to our detriment?

This hotel does not look like much from the outside (It is a big black block) but it amazing on the inside. I went in for a wuick night stop as I had an early morning flight to catch and needed to stay in Edinburgh or sorroundings for the night. I am sorry now that I arrived so late. The room was extremely pretty, comfortable and clean. They had complimentary tea, coffee and cookies and also a wonderful bathrobe. Beds were amazing and the bathroom was really comfortable. I also happened to have great views to the railway bridge, which was genuinely iconic. Staff were great and extremely helpful, and even the taxi driver that picked me up in the morning to go to the airport was amazing (seems he works with the hotel often, what a gentleman!). All great and I will repeat my stay if possible :)

They only thing I did not really appreciate was that they ask for a deposit of 50 GBP, so you need to give them a credit card. Also the appearance on the outside is a bit strange (too modern and black for my taste) but generally this is a great stay and there were no issues with the deposit being refunded after (it just added to my anxiety as a solo female traveller).
