Very helpful on reception - allowing us to leave our bags at the Inn prior to check-in. The room was spacious and was so quiet at night. The location is fantastic too and Rye is such a beautiful place to visit. Breakfast was great too - all you could want for and good quality.

It's definitely not a complaint, as we knew this before we booked. However just be aware there's no parking and so you need to park in a nearby car park (or you may want to drop luggage off and then go and park). It was fine for us, we found a nearby car park and wasn't a problem at all.

Old building with a lot of character, great location overlooking the harbour, in the very centre of Rye, 2 mins from the main church within the old town. We arrived before check-in time but we're allowed to leave our luggage in reception. Staff very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Our room had a four poster bed, amazing space, bright and spacious, huge bathroom with a great shower and bathtub. Very clean and tidy. Tea a coffee facilities in the room as well and a big flat screen TV that we didn't use but had all the channels if you want to spend some time in the room. We had two arm chairs to lounge if needed (the room was so spacious that they fitted perfectly without making the spaced cramped) The breakfast was made to order to avoid wastage, but you could order whatever you wanted and there was unlimited toast and coffee and extra food if you wish. There is a bar in the Hope Anchor so you could have a drink before going out for dinner or after a long day sightseeing. A very good choice if you want to visit Rye and want quality and space with good value for money. Reccomended!

There was magnificent wievs to the south and west from the windows (2'nd floor), all very quiet the whole day and night, fantastic charming well equipped room, helpfull staff, fine breakfast, more phantastic location and inner furbishment, than deduced from the photos at the homepage. A pleasant surprice. A couple of nights more would have been fine. A fine room for a honey moon, we had silver wedding, so we tried it out. And Rye, the town itself is a pearl, and the Hope Anchor is just in the middle of it. Who can ask for more ?

The Hope Anchor is a traditional family feel property, situated on an elevated position near the harbour. There are lovely views from here, from the bar and dining room, but also from the bedrooms. there was also a nice breeze up here too, which was welcome in the recent hot weather. Rye is a small town so whilst this is not right in the centre, it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk to the other side, and everything is close by including restaurants, pubs and shops. The dining room is spacious with a nice view and the bar offers a good selection of drinks and there is seating outside also. Our room overlooked the harbour and was traditional in decor. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bedlinen and plenty of towels provided plus a kettle and all the hot drinks you could want – you can top these up yourself to the little table next to the reception area. There was a TV, iron and ironing board, fan and chilled water which was welcome in the warm weather and a large bathroom. We received a warm welcome on arrival, given a local map and advised to book restaurants as the area gets busy especially at weekends. There was a little card with suggested restaurants and we received all the information relevant to our stay. The staff were welcoming and friendly and could not do enough for us. Having recently had surgery they kindly kept my medical ice pack in the freezer collecting and returning it for me as required. As stated, there is no parking on site, but you can leave your car outside to load and unload and there are plenty of parking options nearby at a very reasonable rate – around £5 for 24 hours. It wasn’t a problem for us. The breakfast here is very good with lots of options and a good full English breakfast. We enjoyed eating at Simply Italian which is very close to the hotel and Webbes at the Fish Cafe a short walk away. Our stay was just lovely and good value.

Nothing at all.

Lovely location. Good generous breakfast. Great staff. The manager or possibly owner is a lovely warm hearted happy man, and so the staff were happy and the regulars in the bar were happy. It has a grea atmosphere. Bed and bedroom comfy. I stayed in a small double. Room had tea/coffee and biscuits.

nothing could be done about this, but driving the car up to the hotel was quite horrible. Tiny medieval roads which are 2 way. But stay in a medieval village and what can you expect? And there is no on site car parking. There is a bar but no restaurant, except for breakfast. However, Rye has plenty of restaurants - and it's small, so no huge walking involved.

Lovely room with a 4 poster bed- very comfortable with quality, characterful furnishings. Although a very hot day, having dual aspect room allowed good airflow so aired well - and was cool for the night. The bathroom was spacious and quirky and we loved the views from all the windows. All the fittings worked and there were plenty of sockets for all our chargers and equipment. The wing armchairs were cosy and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and clear. There were plenty of spaces to sit inside and out, - a beautiful location close to everything. Although parking is no longer allowed outside (council requirements) there is plenty of space to park whilst dropping luggage off - and no one is hassling you to hurry. Parking is easily available just below near the harbour or on the other side of the river just a 5 minute walk away - £5 for 24 hours and we could see the car from our room. Breakfast was excellent and arrived quickly . Definitely want to come back. Rye is a jewel - and we have lots more to explore and enjoy.

We would have preferred a cafetiere for coffee - we didn't much care for the coffee machine coffee at breakfast. That was the only minor issue.

Love this place, have returned for a second time. Great location. easy walk to old town and great views. Staff super friendly and breakfast was just delicious. Room very comfortable and nice big bathroom, All in all.... superb. Thank you ! Plenty of drinking and eating establishments close by.

This is not the hotels fault, but the local council have imposed parking restrictions, meaning that residents of the hotel have to park off-site, some walk away, this is not particularly great when it is raining or patrons are elderly. Find this short sighted on the councils behalf, as local businesses need supporting and hotel guests should have close parking facilities. Rye needs tourists money especially in these financially challenging times, lets accommodate them. It makes commercial sense.

Both the receptionist and the Manager were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Rooms were of good decor we stayed in room 1. And the view from the room was lovely. Good supply of coffee tea etc. Breakfast was tasty and staff very efficient.

The bathroom door in room 1 needed replacing handle falling off. Mattress on the bed was well worn on the right hand side, suken in the middle and sagging to one side like you were going to fall out of the bed- very uncomfortable 🙃 No parking at the hotel had to use car park ( good price though)

The hotel represents excellent value for money. Our room, although small was very clean and comfortable and recently refurbished with a great view. The receptionist kindly put us on the first floor. The breakfast is excellent and plentiful and served with a cheery smile. The staff were all extremely helpful, polite and courteous, especially when we had a problem with parking our car. We were very happy to stay at The Hope Anchor.

It seems that all the hotels in Rye have parking problems for their guests. With its steep, cobbled, narrow streets, this is only to be expected and in many ways, adds to its charm. My husband has mobility issues, so the location of our chosen hotel presented a few problems. You need to be fit and bring trainers!

We loved the friendly staff, the hotel was clean, the room and bathroom were spotless, the view from the room was lovely. Breakfast was awesome!

The hotel no longer has parking permits, so although we were able to unload and load up outside the hotel, the car had to be parked in the nearest long stay carpark. This wasn't a big issue for us, but for somebody with health issues or disabilities it could be a problem, particularly as the hotel is at the top of a hill.
