Staff were all really friendly, and service was great throughout. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in and the sheets were so soft. Helped by the amazing blackout curtains that kept the room lovely and dark, one of the best sleeps I've had in a very long time! Lovely and quiet as well.

Food was great, staff were polite and helpful

Breakfast service on second morning was awful. Waited for about 5 mins before being seated, which was strange as we were in a queue behind a couple who were seated quickly but the person seemed to have forgotten we were there and disappeared. We were then rescued by a junior staff member and seated. However no one came to take our order until we flagged someone down. In the meantime several others came in after us and were served before we were. Not what you expect for the premium price paid.

Every member of staff we came across was polite, friendly and very helpful. They were also efficient and quick to respond. At first I was disappointed by the look of the hotel, but once inside everything is perfect, from the china crockery to the wonderful mattresses. We enjoyed fine weather and to sit in their extensive gardens enjoying a vodka-and-tonic (or two even) was very, very relaxing. I never had to wait at the bar because whatever ordered was brought to your table. Truly well organised and delivered. Surrounding countryside is magnificent which adds cream to the cake.

Everything was good. I could carp on about the brasserie dinner menu being somewhat limited, but it certainly served its purpose for us.

We've already highly recommended the hotel to our friends and family. It was such a wonderful treat to be able to stay here for our wedding weekend - everyone was so kind and welcoming (which we haven't often found in 4/5* hotels), and the complimentary upgrade was lovely! The breakfast served to the room was a lovely treat.

Breakfast portion sizes were tiny, and not all requests were met. We would've asked liked to know that the service charge applies to this and drinks in the bar, rather than just the restaurant service - it was certainly a surprise extra charge at check out.

What an amazing location. Excellent facilities and wonderful staff. A hotel which expects you to include your dog in your travels. Amazing

I could not fault the hotel, the staff or the experience but it was a bit pricey. Our stay was to celebrate an important anniversary so I accept that I should expect to pay a bit more for the quality of the experience, but for me the difference in price against some of our regular choices was not matched by an equivalent escalation in quality, service or facilities. It was clear that this hotel stands above some of our more regular bookings but not by the margin indicated by the escalation in price.

The hotel is beautiful and in a stunning location. The staff were superb, so polite and nothing too much trouble. We received a lovely warm welcome and a tour of the hotel and our luggage taken to our room. We had the classic double, which is the entry-level room. Comfy bed and pillows, coffee maker, and a basket of treats, including biscuits, crisps, and beautiful chocolate truffles. Fresh milk in the fridge and bottled water provided. Fluffy white dressing gowns and lovely bathroom with all lotions and shower gel/shampoo, etc, provided. Beautiful view from our window. Breakfast was outstanding ! We visited the spa when we checked out and had two lovely treatments. I can't recommend it highly enough !!!!

We loved everything !!!

The hotel was beautiful , and the grounds were stunning. Staff were so helpful that nothing was too much trouble at all for them. Breakfast was delicious in the Burlington it felt little we had stepped back in time it was just beautiful.

The rooms could have had a more luxurious feel with complimentary items given the star rating and how beautiful the rest of the hotel was. We did stay in a classic room, but l, I would have still expected a little more luxury. Things such as complimentary soft drinks and selection of biscuits would have been a welcomed addition. Other than it was a very lovely weekend.

So many things, first impressions were of a delightful hotel with a log fire where we received the warmest welcome, our bags were then carried as we were shown to our room. The rooms was lovely and very clean with lovely views over the garden and hills. There were so many nice touches in the room short bread biscuits and Yorkshire crisps. There was a lovely bar/lounge area where we had coffee and returned in the evening for a night cap. The staff were helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The evening meal was also lovely in the Brassier with a good choice of meals. Our favourite part was the spa it was so relaxing and in a converted bar and was just fabulous. Also the wine and cocktail menus were great. Best 24 hours stay finished off with a lovely walk round Bolton Abbey

Only negative was that although there was a wide choice of good wines they seemed over priced compared to other places we have stayed
