If you’re looking for a bargain place to stay with a bed and a shower, then this is the place for you. It literally is budget, but clean, neat, tidy, friendly, convenient and cosy. We love staying here as we literally cross the road and get our flight. The bar and restaurant are also very smart, friendly, and prices for the menu are reasonable too. If you want luxury go round the corner to Novotel but you’ll be paying a lot more too. Things that could be improved: The Toilet flush and the plug sockets are in awkward places.

We have stopped here before several times so are very happy with the Ibis experience.
We usually have an evening meal in the Restaurant and this occasion was no exception, however despite the Staff always doing their best someone managed to make a complete mess of my Wife's food order, and she was given something that was not even on the menu! As there was little option as far as a food substitute went she had to settle for something she did not really like(sweet pepper soup), which i ended up eating(very nice by the way but besides the point), so left a bad taste in the mouth, literally. Disappointing. Probably wont eat there in future, get sandwiches from M&S or Greggs in the Terminal next time. Cheaper option in actual fact.

The receptionist was so wonderful when I explained that I was really anxious and have an autism diagnosis. She immediately reassured me and was patient and kind. Her approach to me as an individual is the most perfect I have ever experienced. She made me feel valued and that how I was feeling, especially being rain soaked, was how most people would feel as well. I find reflecting normalisation of my experience rather than exceptionism helps me be at my best and most confident. A brilliant start to my holiday. Thank you. The bed was comfy and shower a delight.
The room was basic as I expected. I was surprised by the lack of a kettle. The kitchenette on the first floor was an okay replacement. Paper cups and wooden stirers; not sure that these are an environmentally friendly option versus mugs and cutlery. Surely near the airport not many people will take home (steal) 'freebies'. The 'teaspoon' safety strategy is an important one for girls and teenagers and I guess others could benefit from this too.

It suited my purpose perfectly as I had booked the cheapest budget airline flight out of Birmingham Airport that day for which I had to check in around 4 in the morning. The location is perfect for this, being only a 5-minute level walk from the terminal building. I have stayed in Ibis Budget before, so I knew what to expect and was not disappointed with the facilities. The blackout blinds and soundproofing are effective, and the bed is comfortable. The shower is excellent. Everything was spotlessly clean. There is a lift to the upper floors, and the staff are welcoming and pleasant. The reception is staffed 24/7, so there are no problems with checking in or out at any time. I have no complaints about my stay and would use this hotel again for a similar situation.
There are some drawbacks to this type of accommodation, which is to be expected for the price. There is no kettle or hairdryer provided, but I do have my own travel versions to bring. The room is relatively cramped, and although the beds would do for a family of three people, I was using up all the space just being in there on my own. The furniture and decor are very plain, with hard floors and a lack of cushioning on the plastic stool provided to sit at the table. The electric socket, although a double socket, did not seem to allow plugging in two chargers side by side, as half of the socket would stop working. These are only minor issues, and overall, I was content with my stay

I have stayed (and reviewed) this hotel so many times I have lost count. It is the almost always the cheapest hotel at Birmingham airport and so it is my choice when I have a 6am flight out in the morning, to avoid the hassle of getting taxis and get a longer stay in bed. It is an early 80s idea of a budget hotel so a little tired and not how you would do it today 40 years later. But it does the job and this time I have moved them from an 8 to a 9 because the for the above average rather than ok service in the bar and restaurant from if I recall correctly a waiter called Matt.
It is an early idea of an early 80s budget hotel, so whilst adequate and well maintained it is a step back into what we wanted 40 years ago. Nothing really wrong with what you get or how it is delivered, but just those little niggles such as a socket provision that predates the tech we now carry reminding you that when this hotel was built we did not have laptops let alone phones and tablets with us, with the only plug in carried likely to an electric shaver.

The ibis budget room is compact and spare, but clean, efficiently laid out and functionally equipped. It is a good choice for an overnight ahead of an early flight. It is less than five minutes' walk to the airport terminal, and the monorail from the train station connects to the terminal. There is a full restaurant on the ground floor.
The flat-screen TV should be tilted down a bit to be properly viewed from the bed, which given the size and layout of the room, is really the only place to watch it. If you stand up and look straight at the TV, the color and light level are normal, but from lower down, the picture is dark and hard to see.

Arrived late at night and receptionist was very helpful. Breakfast was everything we could want !
I was travelling with my twin teenage grandchildren, boy and girl so I booked the family room with a double bed and a bunk bed above. I contacted the hotel to confirm the arrangements and was assured we could have the family room. When we arrived and were offered a double room I said no we have booked a family room. Receptionist said we have none left, but we have a double. I just indicated the grandchildren and she got the message and immediately rang a supervisor who said we could have 2 doubles. Happy for such a quick resolution so late at night !

Nice bar and layout for food and drink
The bedroom was very basic, standard when u book on line they don’t show you those photos u only see the nice looking ones we were expecting those ones. The toilet was the size of an airplane toilet. The vent didn’t work so the stink stayed in the toilet for a while. The tv was tiny. The chair was a plastic box, the table was a wooden plank. Tea and coffee was found on the 1st floor. Breakfast we were down my 8.30, we took our time by 9.30 we fancied croissants but someone took the last one. We asked for more and were told they weren’t going to bake more coz we have only 30 minutes left /shrug.

Value for money. I paid £78.00 for one night. Quite close to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) that I was attending. Very close to the airport. Short mono-rail ride to the railway station. Frequent mono rail service from near the hotel to the NEC. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Shower was excellent. Small 'desk' area was useful. Has it's own air-con/heater if required. I didn't use it. Soap dispensers in the shower and by the sink. Has breakfast the following day for £13.95. There was no restriction on the amount one could eat. There was a wide selection of cereals and food. It was value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Slightly more hanging space for clothes might be better, however, on this trip there was enough hangars. The television could not be tilted and was difficult to see if you were lying in bed. No plug by the side of the bed. Had to leave the phone on charge on the desk.

I was at the hotel because of the proximity to the airport (two different stays) Staff at check-in and for breakfast are excellent, the breakfast is also very very good. One small criticism is that the staff in the restaurant in the evening need to "look" a bit more. With their hand-helds it is easy to take multiple table orders. I have found it necessary to really make an effort to catch their attention. This is nothing to do with their politeness and friendliness. Yes, I recommend the hotel for overnight stays when visiting the NEC or using the airport
