ibis budget Birmingham International Airport – NEC

If you’re looking for a bargain place to stay with a bed and a shower, then this is the place for you. It literally is budget, but clean, neat, tidy, friendly, convenient and cosy. We love staying here as we literally cross the road and get our flight. The bar and restaurant are also very smart, friendly, and prices for the menu are reasonable too. If you want luxury go round the corner to Novotel but you’ll be paying a lot more too. Things that could be improved: The Toilet flush and the plug sockets are in awkward places.

We have stopped here before several times so are very happy with the Ibis experience.

We usually have an evening meal in the Restaurant and this occasion was no exception, however despite the Staff always doing their best someone managed to make a complete mess of my Wife's food order, and she was given something that was not even on the menu! As there was little option as far as a food substitute went she had to settle for something she did not really like(sweet pepper soup), which i ended up eating(very nice by the way but besides the point), so left a bad taste in the mouth, literally. Disappointing. Probably wont eat there in future, get sandwiches from M&S or Greggs in the Terminal next time. Cheaper option in actual fact.

Being so close to the airport makes this hotel a must. You can walk just round the corner turning left as you come out of the hotel and walk past the Novetel Hotel you are just about five minutes from the airport. Depending where you are flying from you can check your bag in the night before. You can drop off just outside the door although there is a sign saying there is a fine it only relates if you are not staying at the Ibis. I also liked the price, six adults staying in three rooms would have cost me more at a bigger hotel.

Obviously it is a budget hotel so you have to take that in to consideration but apart from that their was nothing I disliked.

As I have stayed at this hotel several times a couple of years ago and therefore knew what to expect, I was positively surprised to see if and what has changed since the last time I stayed. It is still great value for money and I would and will definitely still recommend it to everyone who needs a stay around the NEC/Birmingham airport. One thing that has changed and even massively improved is the breakfast selection. I loved the options and the presentation of the food years ago, but by now it's on a whole different level. I loved it!

Though it's only a small thing as the airport is right around the corner, but they used to have vending machines with drinks and snacks which are now missing. I really appreciated the option of getting a bottle of water in the morning/evening and some snacks for the day, but as I said, it's just a small thing and it didn't really lessen my enjoyment of the hotel.

Excellent location, we had a very early flight, we just woke up and were at the airport in minutes - great value for money. Very fast check-in, the hotel also has a good restaurant. If I fly through Birmingham on an early flight - I will definitely use the hotel, one of the easiest and fastest journeys to the airport early in the morning when the transport is not so frequent and convenient.

It's hard for me to give a negative rating about anything in this hotel. This is not because it is unique or because everything is perfect, of course the rooms are quite compact, but they have everything you need. My assessment is of course based on the price/quality ratio and the information provided to me when booking - everything was as I expected or better, for this price and location, I can't find any negatives!

The staff are amazing, I hope Ibis appreciates them enough because their attitude and welcoming is 5 star, from the reception to the cafe/bar everyone was amazing. Free welcoming drink. Coffee facilities were located on the 1st floor for my room, they are available 24h, it is in a way better than kettle facilities in the room. The room is basic as expected for a budget hotel, small TV plenty of add ons like extra duvets etc. but very clean and the air con works fine. I don't remember seeing USB power sockets but there might be, plenty of electric socket outlets anyway so no issues with charging devices.

Nothing I can't think of, and I rarely say this.

The bar/dining area was excellent. It was busy but staff great, especially one who was a supervisor/team leader/ manager (sorry, we can’t now remember her name). Food was not expensive but was good. It was like a sociable evening out in a ‘popular local bar/restaurant’. Good start to holiday and location could not have been better. Mattress was comfortable which we had not expected. A real plus! Rooms were basic but clean. Good water pressure in shower.

Check in was not exactly smooth. If I’m ’nit picking’ then it wasn’t possible to go to the loo in the night without waking your partner as the handle on the toilet doesn’t move. It’s just a pull latch which is very loud.

WoW! I cant praise this hotel highly enough! I arrived in from Greece, asked a taxi driver to take me to the hotel and he laughed his head off.. he pointed his finger and said.. its just there ! The Superb location being just a 10 min walk across the car park ( see pic ) The photo was taken from just outside the main departure/ arrival entrance doors to give you an idea of how close the distance is! Great friendly staff, with a totally awesome breakfast buffet style ( see pic ) they did evening meals too. To be honest its so convenient, i would'nt stay anywhere else now! The room was large enough with tv, super comfy bed, exceptionally clean and a great shower.. the only thing missing was Sea Views! and i was also impressed with the lack of noise considering how close it was to the airport, this was due to seriously excellent soundproof windows.. I was super impressed. Thank you guys,, you were awesome!

Perhaps an indoor pool and room jaccuzi, massage service, Sea views and perhaps a free drink on arrival wouldv been great! BUT SERIOUSLY - Nothing in my opinion, for me , it was perfect and great value too!

So convenient to the airport. Basic, but that’s what was expected. I slept well, I found the bed comfortable. Tea & coffee facilities were in a shared room, which I didn’t mind because it meant the boiling water was through a filtered machine rather than a kettle in the bedroom that needs filled from the bathroom. Plus it uses takeaway cups which was handy when heading out.

Being on my own for one night, it was fine! But if you’re sharing or staying longer please be advised the shower and sink are in the room, there is no separate bathroom.

The room seemed to have soundproof windows, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep, and the blackout blinds were also a nice surprise.

Despite its modern appearance, the room was cramped with the sink and shower next to the bed, while the toilet was situated in what felt like a closet, so closter-phobics beware. Also, a lack of basic amenities, like a kettle or hairdryer, was a significant oversight, though shampoo was provided.
