The Chancery House is located in a beautiful area of hills, meadows and pastures of Devon. The house itself is a typical charming English house, comfortably furnished and nicely decorated. It's very neat and clean, the rooms are cosy, the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are spacious and very clean. There is an electric kettle in your room as well as some tea, coffee, sugar and milk so you can drink tea/coffee whenever you want. The Owner of the house is a very warm, hospitable and kind man, we felt very welcomed in His house. He prepared absolutely delicious, English breakfasts for us at the times we needed. We were delighted to spend a few days at His place and we would definitely go there again. If you are looking for a place in that area - you should check Chancery House!

Delightful is the most appropriate word for this B & B. Location, host, room, breakfast - all delightful. I loved the quiet, rural location, yet this was within easy reach of beautiful coastal drives and villages, National Trust properties, pubs and supermarkets. My room was spacious, clean and equipped with all mod cons, including a great shower. Breakfast was delicious and carefully prepared by host Alan who clearly had guests' comfort as his number one priority. He was amiable, efficient, helpful and informative. This B & B would be my choice whenever I am next in the area.

Nothing - all was excellent

Just absolutely...wow! If you want serenity, then this is for you. Alan is a fabulous host, the room was lovely, comfortable & exceptionally clean. I had a great night's sleep, the bed was sheer quality, very firm. The room is airy and light and the shower is something else, just great. Nice clean towels with supplied toiletries. The views are outstanding, just miles of lush green fields and a lovely garden too! If that's not enough, I woke up to a fabulous full English breakfast, with a wide choice of cereals and fruit juice and some excellent conversation. So much so, I booked this hotel for business, as a result now me & the other 'alf are coming back in July too, just can't get enough!

Nothing at all.

The property is cute. We all had a peaceful stay. All the linens were clean and fresh (we actually brought our own beddings but ended up using the property’s beddings). It felt like a home away from home after a long day out with the children. The children made a little mess but Alan, the host was so kind and understanding about it. The breakfast was so good!

Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Alan was most welcoming and we were made to feel at home-from-home. In particular, we experienced the car breaking down and he was extremely helpful, taking us to the local town to collect a fish supper. The bedroom was comfortable and quiet even though other families were staying. Excellent breakfast.

Nothing really. It suited our requirements.

Friendly and a bonus to stay at a B&B run by a genuine local. Alan used to be a dairy farmer (Ayrshire cattle) as well as rearing Close Wool Cross sheep). I think that's why he appreciates that travellers want a good 'proper' English breakfast. The fried potato cubes are very moreish). The room temperature was just right. No bath in my room but the shower pressure was fab and full temperature control. The WiFi in inclusive. Password provided so you don't need to ask. Parking right outside. Way cheaper than PI and also better value than TL by the time you put any extra on / pay for separate parking.. but most importantly good old fashioned customer service. I arrived late but was greeted by Alan which was really appreciated. All for £50.

This was a great location from which to explore the West Country. We went West to Tintagel, east to Bristol and south to Exeter. There are also some lovely nearby spots like Tarr Steps. Alan is a great and tireless host. The full English breakfast is huge but lighter options are available. The rooms are a good size, basic but spotlessly clean. It is very very quiet outside. The prices are very very reasonable.

Host was lovely, giving advice and support even before our visit. The location was beautiful. Room was suitable for our needs and breakfast was also made to a good standard.

Nothing I didn’t like per se but as it is an older house it does have an older house smell although this is not due to a lack of cleanliness.

The friendly host was approachable, made us feel comfortable and took an interest in us. The location was excellent and the bnb was lovely.

On arrival we were given limited information about the facilities, for example breakfast times, front door key policy. The room would benefit from a booklet explaining these.

The lovely quiet location with very little traffic unless you count the odd tractor or herd of sheep passing by. The delicious breakfast cooked by our host Alan each morning. The early morning wake up call from the local bird community lead by a very enthusiastic wren. Swallows perched on our windowsill and hunting for insects on the path outside (I have never seen that before) The buzzard that appeared from time to time and just soared around for a while. The stoat that I glimpsed by the hedgerow. Free parking and you do need a car. The dark sky which was perfect for stargazing when there was a gap in the clouds.

There was nothing to dislike.
