Breakfast was very well cooked especially having hot plates! Great choice, good quality food, good price, very nice staff, good service. Pretty tea pot full of tea and plenty of milk. All staff friendly and polite. Room clean, lovely white towels and bed linen. Your cleaners do an excellent job toilets everywhere always found clean, spotless!

Very sad about parking facilities! Can’t really expect to have parking out on the seafront but only parking available was out the back. Very unsatisfactory!full of craters! Very dangerous for customers, particularly of. A certain age who would find walking back to the hotel dangerous particularly in the dark!

Attractive decor throughout the hotel; excellent restaurant serving good food, imaginative menu at reasonable prices. Room was on ground floor as requested (husband has walking difficulties,) Very clean, comfortable beds and nicely furnished. Bathroom spacious and help provided quickly when we had a slight problem with the shower. Bed linen and towels were good quality and nice to use. I missed having a courtesy shower cap and small tablet of soap - I find the containers fixed on the wall sometimes hard to squeeze hard enough. I usually have my own toiletries with me but I like there to be some available in case I've forgotten something. On our arrival the phone in our room was completely dead and could not be repaired until the day after we left, but we were offered an alternative room immediately. Having settled in, we declined as we had mobile phones anyway, but appreciated the offer to move us immediately. We were alarmed on our first night with tremendous banging - it turned out to be due to air lock trapped in radiators in the above floor above us - but was dealt with quickly and effectively.

The window in our room (18) had net curtaining as well as curtains to draw at night, but we think a blind or slats would have been better, providing more privacy without shutting out light, as people using the back outside staircase could see directly into our room. I would have liked a leaflet about the hotel and its facilities to be in the room, rather than having to ask Reception or download a QR code - but maybe that's just me being old fashioned? It was a big benefit to have access to a free car park as parking in Southend is scarce and expensive.

We have stayed here previously and it was great. We came again for everything we had from first stay, however, the hotel had a private function which meant that we were completely ignored. Another couple who were staying also agreed. Waiting for a menu, waiting for service, waiting for the drinks 🤷🏻‍♀️ the staff are amazing and accommodating but clearly not as focused on the paying guests as the private function. Who left quite early and the guests went elsewhere. Still a lovely hotel, top marks for everything. I’ll check next time whether there’s a private function. Thank you. Had a lovely sleep.

Love it, lovely clean rooms, parking, staff friendly and accommodating.

The room itself was nice, clean and comfortable, as was the downstairs dining area. The breakfast was delicious and the location just right if you like a nice walk along the seafront further into Southend etc. The service from the staff (particularly Laura) was excellent, all very polite, friendly and helpful. It was also pretty quiet for the most part so that's always a bonus.

My only real nitpicks were the fact that the room I was staying in (Room 2) was right near some sort of takeaway or something I am guessing, so the smell from that wafting through when I opened the window was a little much at times. Nothing too horrendous though. And the shower was very fiddly to try and work out (but I got some help from one of the very friendly staff so all good in the end!). I also wasn't sure if there was AC in there or not as it could get a little warm, but that's on me for not enquiring.

Clean, modern, comfortable room which I was told was an upgrade as different to description. Breakfast was included in the price which was plentiful and delicious, as was dinner which we had on the first night

The shower area had no door, as part of the design. We didn't want to leave the window open at night, even though it was very warm, as it looked as if there was easy access to the roof to enter the room. We did utilize the fan which provided some relief.

We only had a 1 night stay at the Camelia as we were attending a wedding party close by. We found the hotel very clean, the beds comfortable and an excellent shower. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had never visited Thorpe Bay before but were so impressed with the Camelia's service, location and in particular the view over the estuary from the front of the hotel, we plan to visit again.

Can't think of anything!

We have stayed at this lovely hotel a few times and each time we’ve received a warm welcome. We were unexpectedly upgraded to the annex which was really appreciated; it was a very relaxing and quiet room. The bed was comfortable with nice furnishings- the pillows were a little firm but otherwise no complaints. The bathroom was modern with a fantastic walk in shower. There were two windows, with blackout curtains, offering a welcome breeze. It’s situated on the seafront and when we arrived at 11:30am, the sheltered seating area at the front was half full with people enjoying coffee and brunch; there was a lovely atmosphere. The guy behind the bar, who had just started at the hotel, served our coffee and was extremely polite. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I was using a voucher booking The Camelia Hotel for an afternoon tea, when we see the picture of the hotel we decided to book a room for the night, we are so pleased we did. We were upgraded to a seaview room. The room was very clean and had a lovely view, the bed was extremely comfortable. We had evening meal at the onsite restaurant this was very nice and good value for money Breakfast was tasty and a good selction. The staff were very helpful and attentive. We really appreciated the help of the manager when he assisted us with our transport problem.

It was difficult to squeeze the shower gel/shampoo out of the container with 1 hand, so you had to squeeze with both hands then scoop it off of the bath.

Visiting family close by so the location was perfect for a 3 night stay. The breakfast was first class. Used the bar in the evening for dinner and drinks with family members and the hotel has a nice feel about it. The staff are so cheery, helpful and very attentive making it a very nice atmosphere. Will have no hesitation in booking this hotel for my future family get togethers.

Nothing to dislike.
