Hotel was fresh and modern, we were not expecting it to be as nice. The reception staff were very friendly also. The breakfast was good value and all and all, it was a nice and comfortable stay. Nice bath and shower, decent toiletries. We were there for a 40th birthday party and were originally going to stay in Premier Inn but it was fully booked. This was similar pricing and a little further from the party but glad we stayed her instead, was worth the extra 10 minutes to get to. It was peaceful as not many planes fly in/out and everything sound proofed well. Had a nice rooftop bar and all in all, a very pleasant stay. A short walk to the train to London/Southend.

We booked a room with a sofa bed but this was not made up when we arrived and it was quite late, we were travelling with young kids. The housekeeping did come quite quickly to set it up for us though. There weren't enough towels either so I think the hotel should have just ensured the room is ready for the right number of guests. Not a major complaint, just feedback.

Modern hotel and large clean room. Friendly staff, easy to get around. Reception manned late. Nice breakfast room.

A host of minor issues, mainly bad design. If you're charging for parking, it needs to be allocated and the spaces not far too narrow. TV too far away to view properly. Room veered from too warm to too cold. Bed wide but too short and a bit hard. Disabled facilities too low for easy use by others. Toilet installed incorrectly. Bathroom light intruded on others sleeping at night. Bright green light on all night. Sound proofing poor. 'Tent effect' so daylight onset woke us. Breakfast generous but generic ingredients.

The hotel was great and next to a little retail park which was good. we liked the rooftop restaurant/bar. Our room was lovely and clean.

The beds were awful and so uncomfortable. We were supposed to be staying for 3 nights but only stayed 2 nights as we couldn’t sleep another night in the bed. the bed was so hard and myself and husband kept rolling into the middle of the bed and waking up several times. we were exhausted. we both tried swapping with our son and sleep on the sofa bed but that was just as bad with the springs sticking in your back. Not a good experience but the staff were amazing and refunded us some of our money back. can’t fault the staff and we will definitely continue to stay in holiday inns again as we usually have comfortable beds.

on our last night there was an event going on downstairs that was very loud. we were placed on the first floor with no notice it would be loud. we called to complain at 1am. they offered to switch rooms which I don’t think was adequate. we are in our pajamas, half asleep, and they wanted us to pack up all our things to move to another room. when I complained in the morning to the manager, he would offer no type of discount or consideration. I was very disappointed and he was very rude. the appropriate thing would have been to warn us with adequate notice that there would be an event so we could change rooms DURING the day - not at 1am. he was very unprofessional and unpleasant to chat with. aside from our last night and the manager working when we checked out, our stay was pleasant.

Really good staff, late check in due aircraft delay was very good and the night staff arranged for some sandwiches. The room was very clean with all the necessary items. The breakfast was excellent as were the restaurant staff including the chef

On the Saturday evening there was a party, which was directly under our room, the thumping music went on until midnight. We are in our late seventies so the noise was not appreciated at all. Every day we had to revalidate our key card, staff said "you have had the card near your phone etc"., we had not, I suspect the hotel system was cancelling us each day - annoying to have to return to the front desk every evening to revalidate. To be charged 10 pounds per day for parking is excessive especially as people coming just for meals received free parking ?

The whole stay was very good - staff couldn't be more helpful.

I was woken at 3am.by noisy guests in the next room and they were rowdy until about 5am - then had the audacity to put a DND card on their door handle! I didn't complain to the staff at the time because it wasn't their fault - they gave me a 25% refund (which I didn't ask for or expect) and an assurance that if I had called reception they would have immediately dealt with it. Very understanding & responsive!

The hotel is nice clean and good facilities provided

I think the roof top restaurant menu is good but the chef needs to see how is his team finally sending the final plate out as it lacks presentation and items like we ordered a BBQ chicken pizza where there was hardly any chicken. On it plus nachos we can't see any cheese on it though it was been told that kitchen did not had SOUR CREAM so they will add extra cheese . Overall food experience need to be worked on

Fantastic staff throughout the whole hotel happy & friendly, Attention to detail in the 5th floor restaurant ( nice buffet breakfast) overlooking the airport runway, had a corner room very spacious, clean,fridge, slippers, bath robes, nice designer wash soaps & Shampoo and body lotion, would definitely recommend this hotel plenty of parking with cctv shops McDonald's very close.

One thing I mentioned to the very approachable manager (really nice guy) Was the lack of a (pay for) Electric vehicle charger he took my comments on board said was in talks about it, did mention that wouldn't stay again because of this reason but was told if I did the hotel would be able to accommodate in some way, i find helpfulness like this a first class service so will return. Car charging in Southend is not that easy.

The beds was amazing, comfy, clean and homely, the restaurant and bar on 5th floor was brilliant, especially to entertain kids watching the flights coming in and out. We had sunday roast for 5 and it was amazing, best gravy i ever tasted, and the staff in the restaurant couldnt do enough one young man was very attentive even while having a migrane and feeling unwell himself, he was very kind to my son who has autism and was loud, and asked alot of questions, he was very obliging

We booked 2 rooms, and 1 room was ready at 2pm, check in time, and the second one wasnt ready to nearly a hour after check in time, i found this frustrating, but understood they had alot of work to do after previous people who had stayed

The Holiday Inn is an excellent hotel, and I have used it over the years since it first opened. I have always been very comfortable, and have enjoyed the unrivalled views of the Airport, yet the sound-proofing is super efficient and you are free of all external noise. The 'STAR' is of course the 1935 Roof-Top restaurant; both the breakfast and dinner are of a very high standard served by polite and courteous staff.

The Hotel was built to serve the needs of the Airport's passengers and the airline staff, and up to the Pandemic it did this excellently. Through no fault of the Airport, the through-put has seriously dropped with the with-drawl of the resident airlines and routes on offer. In order to improve the Hotel's room occupancy, contractors' teams (presumably on favourable rates) appear now to be the significant users. This has totally changed the ambience at breakfast - and especially at Dinner - where it is no longer the peaceful environment where once you could relax or entertain friends for a special occasion.
