A stone's throw from the Cliffs Pavilion, which is where we were going on Saturday night. Chargeable street parking cost us £5.86 which covered us for the night until 11am Sunday morning (check out time). Dinner was really tasty and breakfast was good with all the cooked items required + fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast etc. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, although slightly dated. Our bedroom was big and the bed was comfy. The shower was a bit of a faff, but roomy and absolutely good enough. The toiletries were a nice tough.

The room cost £152.95 on Booking.com, but only £97 if we'd booked direct with the hotel. Sadly, I discovered this the day before, so it was too late to cancel. The lift was tiny! Not a problem if you're with your partner, but it could be a bit uncomfortable for two strangers with big bottoms and a suitcase each :-D

The closeness to the westcliff theatre

No restaurant open on a sunday afternoon/evening. We had arranged to eat elsewhere but wasnt notified it was closed.

The staff were amazing, the breakfast was magnificent.

The building is showing its age but beds and cleanliness top class.

Location brilliant and we were lucky to have sea view from our room.

First night sleep brilliant, second night the spotlights outside were on all night shining right through our window. We phoned reception and asked if they could be turned off but was told they couldn't. We said they were not on the night before which he didn't believe?? He told us to just close our curtains and we explained we did only have a blind with a gap all around the edge. That was the end off the conversation and we had a bad night sleep. Funny enough the next night they were off from about 10pm???

Don't accept pets and checking is still troublesome after several visits here with the app used to park the car .Every other client at reception had the same problem with various issues on the app .Taking up the staff time in check in . Thankfully the staff were very helpful .Some areas of decoration seemed dated and just painted over as we found exactly the same with another of this chain in a different area recently.

Wasn’t expecting the place to be as nice as we found it so was pleasantly surprised by how clean and spacious the room was the inside definitely impressed us over our expectations based on the not as impressive outside impression of the hotel

Parking was a nightmare the first night was fine and got right outside but the following nights were horrendous driving in circles to find a spot with rude parking officers telling us we were not allowed to park where the hotel said we could so this was not a good experience add to that you have to pay for parking before 9pm - place really needs a car park of its own or would be fine if arriving by other transportation services

The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much. There is a beautiful view in a tranquil location. Very close to the Cliffs Pavillion. The windows open in the rooms. It is situated between two train stations which take about ten to fifteen minutes to walk to them. Equally you can reach the high street in fifteen minutes along a beautiful road overlooking the sea. The beds are very comfy. We stayed on the first floor which was very convenient for the restaurant and reception. The bar is decorated in a 1920s Art Deco style and is very charming.

The television didn't work very well and so I wasn't able to watch it. The restaurant is not open very often at night for an evening meal however the reception did their best to help us order food using a delivery service and there are plenty of restaurants around...although you would probably need to drive to them.

The room was an excellent size with a great sea view. The reception staff were most helpful on arrival and check in was easy The bar area was beautifully furnished and again the bar staff were excellent.

While everything else was excellent, what let the hotel down was the breakfast. It was expensive and we expected a top quality breakfast for the money. However, many items had to be asked for including bowls for cereals. The orange juice and yoghurt also had to be requested as it had run out. The fruit option consisted of prunes and a few pieces of tinned grapefruit. There were no croissants or pastries, just toast. Coffee came from a large urn canteen style rather than a choice of coffees from a machine. The cooked breakfast was good though.

location nice a good view of the estuary. Our suite was lovely. Breakfast very nice and plenty of room to find a nice table.Lady on reception friendly and nice.

lacking in toiletries. no hand soap,just a tiny bar of soap and 2 tiny bath wash bottles. Bathroom could do with a hanger on the back of the door for your clothes. night staff not so friendly,well just one gentleman on the desk and we felt like we were being annoying by asking to step outside the front door to take some photos ,plus asking for an extra towel. we got one but it wasn't service with a smile unfortunately. The lift is old fashioned, tiny and claustrophobic, so it's not a hotel for anyone with a disability as lots of stairs.

In this world of cold speedy modern bland impersonal accommodation, the Westcliff Hotel has always been a landmark of olde worlde charm, character and warmth. Everything functioned perfectly; the water in the shower was hot, the room was spotless, the beds were comfy, the WiFi excellent, the furnishings, toiletries, amazing sea view and calm. All 100% Breakfast was great, sufficient, tasty, and Mike in the kitchen made me some veggie sausages especially. Thanks Mike! A magnificent Victorian building (maybe a bit younger) that I hope will continue to proudly fly it's flag outside in the garden.
