The location was really good, really close to the city centre, shopping malls, pier, sea life and restaurants. The room had good facilities, such as heating and air con, and was great to have a sea view facing balcony in our room. Nice they also included complimentary drinks such as bottled water and canned drinks which were topped up everyday with house cleaning.

We had a 3 year old child who has a disability so no lift at the property didn’t make it easy to carry her, her pram and bags on a daily basis but we managed. Although there was free parking at the property it was often busy and sometimes couldn’t get a parking spot (the restaurants at this protege proved to be popular, which in guessing is why the parking was almost always full.

A rare occurrence, but the room actually looked better in reality than on the website photographs. An exquisite mix of 1960/70ies period colours (a beautiful shade of green) and charm including a turntable in a box, a phone with a dial disk that was actually a modern device under the skin, a period drinks cabinet and a really, really charming bathroom that still worked like a modern one. Excellent lighting and very, very spacious throughout, both the bedroom and the bathroom. Comprehensive coffee and tea facilities, and a fridge with softdrinks. Very courteous and helpful staff, and that includes both the cleaning ladies I met throughout my stay when I was on the terrace. Excellent room service! A private and equally delightful terrace with a proper sea view. OK, you have to accept the traffic in front of the hotel, but it is part of the charm to see plenty of V8 engined cars gliding past, alternated by the irresistible Jaguar Mk2. Quiet enough at night. On-site parking was good for a seaside establishment, albeit that a grand 1960ies motor car didn't fit in just any parking bay. Lunch and dinner time could be a nuisance because of non-residing patrons in the car park, but still manageable. Despite the plaster cast, one of the better holiday hotel experiences I ever had. Even the staircase was all right, notwithstanding the crutches.

Can't really think of anything

Perfectly located, clean rooms, comfortable beds, amazing food, and friendly and attentive staff. Hotel is also perfectly located, avoids busy tourist crowd but is close to the attractions, restaurants, etc. Food was amazing during breakfast and dinner. Although, first breakfast, staff took one of our orders incorrectly but she did remember the following day so we were pleased. Another occasion, they omitted an item in our dinner order so Mum had to wait longer for her food. Staff were apologetic and had taken the item off our bill as a gesture of goodwill. Staff did amazingly considering how busy they were throughout our stay. Also, liked the complimentary cold drinks in the rooms which was topped up everyday. Kept us hydrated in the scorching weather during our stay. Will definitely be coming back!

No lifts. Lady in our group have gait problem so took longer going up and down the stairs, otherwise she enjoyed her stay.

Friendly, nice accommodation and great food and atmosphere.

No lift, needs balconies on sea view rooms. Pay £40 a night just to look out of the window, which was obstructed by furniture. We were returning to the hotel after a few days away and were unable to leave a bag with them securely. We tried to check in an hour hour early and told room not ready until 3pm. When we spoke to manager about something else, found room out the room was ready. Several times answers seemed to depend on who you spoke to and if they were prepared to actually do something other than the standard answer.

Everything could not fault the wonderful staff. We have been coming to the Roslin for many years has never ever faulted. I must mention this particular member of your staff...her name is Lea...and she was wonderful...hope you pay her well she is worth every penny she is a credit to your Hotel and we will be back for Christmas we booked a table...but waiting for a call back.

It was my Birthday on the 13th August hence our stay...we ordered breakfast in bed as a treat. Booked it for 9am we rang down to reception at 9.15am they said they were very busy. Then we rang again at 9.40am...they said they were still busy. It finally arrived at 10am...and then they said it was complimentary which was lovely. Then in our room 110 we than had a power cut....which was sorted within half an hour...so the start to my birthday was not good.

Exceptionally well run, with visible old school management, I would say with a Mediterranean flare, observing and accelerating service levels, such as avoiding delays at bar service. The Rosin Beach Hotel is a true haven. Hotel rooms are of a particularly high standard, fabulous bathrooms with great towels. My bathrobes were missing but available. It’s was a Saturday night stay booked at the last minute, the various bars and restaurants were particularly buzzy with varied groups thoroughly enjoying themselves.

I’m sorry to say but I’m not a fan of the location. The beach front, although clean and litter free, is particularly unattractive in my view. The scruffy small commercial fishing boats scattered everywhere are a bit of an eye soar and should be relocated, the beach needs to be made more user friendly and aesthetically a lot more pleasing. There is no lift and no spa facilities such as hot tub, stream rooms or sauna. I felt £224 for a one night stay, bed only not including breakfast, for a double room, given the location was a little top heavy. Dinner was a further £90+ and delicious, I just feel, despite being comfortable over £300 for a one night stay is too pricey - so disappointing breakfast wasn’t included, I think breakfast was going to be over £20 - too much!

To be honest I was pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem. I have been to Southend severally over the years and cannot believe I had never come across it when looking for somewhere to stay. It stands out as you drive up, with palm trees and a lovely decorated exterior. You go in and are met with the same level of attention to detail, it is clean, there is plenty of staff on hand at all times. They upgraded our room unexpectedly and so we had a sea-view balcony which was lovely. The decor is really impressive, coupled with the good weather it almost felt as if we were outside the UK. The customer service was honestly brilliant, they were always polite, always happy to help and also switched your pillows, towels and soaps daily. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I don't think I've had such good breakfast at a hotel before. Everything about our experience here lets me know they take pride in providing a high quality experience, something that's missing in a lot of establishments these days. Although a 25 min walk to the city centre its a scenic walk but also a 6 minute drive if you want to get around quickly. The beds were comfortable the room had working AC and the lighting in the bathroom was amazing. Usually its either too dim or too bright but there are 3 different lights you can turn for your comfort which was perfect for when I was washing my face and doing my hair. Lovely mirrors on all the cupboards and n the wall so you can see yourself from all angles when getting ready. I could go on.

The only thing I wished or was for the smart TV to actually work as one, it was only channels 1-5 but as we were out most of the day it didn't bother us too much.

Our visit was everything we had hoped for and more. Check-in was simple and straightforward and we were given a free upgrade to a superior room which was a lovely surprise. The room was spotlessly clean, spacious and very well equipped. Bed was large and comfortable and we had a nice Seaview as well. We ate in the Restaurant and the food was excellent as was the service. We also had breakfast included in our package which was very tasty. Overall an amazing stay and definitely somewhere we hope to return to in the future.

A very minor point which my wife would have liked was some better lighting to apply her makeup.

Everything from start to finish was amazing. The decor of the hotel is so pretty, and in a spectacular location right across from the beach. All staff were very friendly and super helpful. Check in was simple, and fast. The room was sparkling clean with all the amenities you would expect from a 5 star place. I booked an executive with sea view and balcony and I'm very happy I did. Watching the sun rise from my private balcony was such a special experience. That was one of the best morning cups of tea I've had! We had breakfast in the room, which was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Staff were very attentive and polite. Dinner was one to remember for sure! Very glad I booked this for my birthday. Service was quick and efficient and the food was fresh. I tested myself to a couple of spa treatments, which were well needed. Spa is cute and contemporary with a good selection of treatments on offer. Lovely little hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the pier.

Oh my! This really is a beautiful hotel. We commented that there was nothing that hadn’t been maintained to the highest level.

We were housed in a little annex, if there is a criticism, maybe it would be nice to have a covered, or even better an enclosed walkway to the main building. We had a lovely experience, except one minor incident which involved swapping fries for boiled new potatoes on a meal. Sadly this left us feeling a little disgruntled, which is a shame. I’m not sure this criticism will hurt the hotel, but maybe it’s worth them considering how they deal with these requests.
