location is nice pub is very nice cosy feel beautifully situated by the river shops in a convenient place within walking distance landlord very nice extremely helpful and genuine person room was amazing great size including a kitchen with washing machine
at the present time there is no food available at the pub however the landlord has only recently taken over the premises and was kind enough to explain which were out of his hands it's not a complaint and don't be put off from staying as there our other places within walking distance that serve food as what was explained to me. lf you are disabled access may be a problem is all l can say please check first

Stayed last night and enjoyed a meal and drinks as well. Food was absolutely delicious! Gorgeous fish and chips and the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever eaten 🤤 my husband said the steak was the best steak he’d ever had - even better than a well known restaurant chain. Breakfast was delicious too and filled us up for the day. Our room was beautifully decorated, cosy and comfortable and was surprisingly quiet despite being on the main road. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and did a great job. Both myself and my husband were very impressed and will definitely come and stay again!

Our room was nice and very clean. The cooked breakfast was delicious. The staff were warm friendly and inviting.
The lighting in our room was very dull, I had to hold the torch light on my phone whilst my partner had a shave and he had to do the same for me why I applied my make up. The room was very chilly in the evenings and no option for heating. A second mornings breakfast was a hamper which unfortunately the content wasn’t for me the porridge was with syrup which I don’t like and the Alpen bars were notto my liking I find them very sweet so I didn’t have breakfast the second morning plus there was only one chair in our bedroom so to have breakfast one of us would have to sit on the bed!

Staff were really helpful , accomodation lovely rooms , clean and hamper continental breakfast weekdays was great , The restaurant opened at 4pm and so we had a great meal , pasta was exceptional , service brilliant.Really helpful , Recommended a taxi firm to book to take us into Halifax for a concert at The Piece Hall , Parking behind the pub at public car park , safe and convenient free parking for 72 hrs . Ideally located in small village about 20 mins from Halifax . Recommend for a comfortable stay , contemporary rustic rooms , good shower and facilities , Bistro pub with 7 rooms , great value and breakfast included. They do cooked breakfasts at weekends apparently , but the hamper with continental was brilliant .as we were heading off early . Thanks The Lion ... we shall be back . Shaw , Stayed 1 night in June 2024
Cannot find fault ., everything was great , staff , chef , cleaners were all brilliant ,

The rooms were spacious, super clean, private and had so many amenities. It was in a great location for the wedding we had attended at the fleece and the finishing touches really made it for us. There was plenty of coffee, tea, hot chocolate sachets and even diluted juice sticks! Continental breakfast as outside our room in a lovely hamper, porridge, croissants with butter/jam, fresh fruit, breakfast bars and even fresh juice included. The lion was a real hidden gem. My partner ate in the restaurant when he checked in and said the pizza was lovey! Would go back to eat and stay again.
We wish we could have had a cooked breakfast but understand that it’s a weekend only option, even for bank holidays.

The location is excellent. Parking at rear in public car park free for 71 hours. Great selection of beers, wines etc Evening food was excellent Full English breakfast was excellent Second breakfast was a continental breakfast left in a wicker basket and was quite sufficient Hot drinks were available in room with biscuits Staff were very helpful and pleasant Overall a great experience
Many steps leading from car park to main entrance Also many narrow steps leading to bedrooms Ok with small handbags but with larger suitcases can be difficult

We were very impressed with the venue when we arrived on a dark and rainy Friday evening. We were stopping there as it was the closest accomodation to a wedding we were attending on the following day. We were quickly checked in and shown to our lovely room, which was very clean and comfortable. Later we had dinner in the restaurant, which was amazing. The burger was to die for, the best I have ever tasted. My wife had the king prawn and crab linguini. The atmosphere is cosy and the staff are excellent - we were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. The next morning, after a comfortable evening in our room, we had the full englist breakfast - cooked perfectly and we enjoyed it by the log burner. Again, the staff were wonderful.

The local reservoir walk is fabulous. Flat easy walk just over 2.5km or an easy 30mins. Plenty of pubs in the village to have a wonder round, mostly dig friendly ( apart from the Bridge) the locals are very friendly. The food at the Lion was amazing, and I didn't feel like it was just your average pub grub. Roaring open fire, which really had that country pub feel. There are plenty of tea and coffee facilities in the room. Breakfast on Sunday morning is served from 10am and well worth the wait. Staff were great, friendly, and attentive .
Took a little time to get parked. There is a free village carpark just behind the pub which you can imagine is always full.

Pub and bedroom were really nice. Room was large, clean and well maintained while the food and drink in the bar was very nice and of a very good quality. Really enjoyed the night I had there and the staff could not have been more helpful.
Location was not particularly great as it is next to a reasonably busy road. So whilst no fault of the management, the big bore exhausts going past at 6 in the morning were not particularly appreciated. Also as a little improvement the bathroom could have done with a small shelf for toiletries.

Friendly and helpful staff. Some interesting menu items as well as the usual suspects. My upgrade to the spacious "suite" (studio apartment even) was gratefully received. It was however labelled on the door as Dicken's Suite, suggesting it belonged to a Mr. Dicken. There was a picture of some old arty bloke on the wall inside, possibly Mr. Dicken himself.
The area at the back of the hotel, visible from my room, was a bit underwhelming.
