The Bell House

The Bell House is a quintessential English inn dating back over 500 years. It was easy to find, had ample parking and the host, Chris, was the perfect host. We had a great dinner and full English breakfast served at Bell House and Chris provided us with local history and conversation that made the stay especially enjoyable. I was traveling with family, including adult sons, and we had a wonderful room that accommodated all of us. I would stay here again.

There wasn't a thing that we didn't like.

Room 4 was nice, lovely big comfy bed. On arrival, I was a bit worried as there was no stand up shower, but the bath ran so quickly it was a treat to have a nice bath before setting off in the morning. Excellent breakfast and great welcome by the owner.

WIFI in room 4 was hit and miss as was mobile signal (on EE), hairdryer was underpowered and had to keep finger on button whilst using it, so I would advise bringing your own.

This hotel was extraordinarily beautiful and the setting and view were wonderful. The staff were kind and really helpful. The bed and pillows were so comfortable. We were so happy to not only have a bath but a glorious bathroom too. We truly loved it and would recommend and go back. It was very close to Chippenham and easy to access and park. Furniture in the room was gorgeous too

Strange that booking.com charges same rate without breakfast as the hotel would have with breakfast had we booked direct. This has taught me not to go through booking.com in the future. It was a shame the bar closed so early. We hoped it would be open to the normal 11 but missed it.

Great hotel, good food and friendly host. It may be a bit tired but its clean and comfortable. The Sirloin was very good as was the breakfast. Chris the owner is a nice guy, I enjoyed chatting with him at the bar.

No shower in my room, just a shower head over the bath with taps so no mixer to get the water temperature right, but its a old style listed hotel and I was generally happy with my stay.

location was ideal for me and the breakfast was full english and superb

room with only shower on taps would have been nice to have a proper shower cubicle as the room was huge.i know it was an older type of property but still could of had a nice shower

We loved the large room and bathroom. Beautiful oldy worldy property .Fantastic cooked breakfast, made to perfection .Plenty of teas ,coffee ,orange juice etc Chris the host was fantastic, funny and very accommodating. Had a bar 🍸 as well .

The room was lovely and felt very private with a door onto a patio, which was really nice. The owner is fantastic, such a friendly, helpful, considerate guy. He really made the stay an absolute pleasure.

Despite the fact he was extremely short staffed (chef and others), the owner was friendly and helpful. I had an excellent veg burger, and some of the best chips I have had in a long, long time! The room was spacious and elegant, with a lovely bathroom and large bath.

I couldn't get the table lamps or the TV to work. I did not raise this with the owner as I felt he was busy enough, and I was too tired.
