We stopped here for one night on our way down to Devon, so just wanted a cheap and cheerful option and found this place for the night. We were so pleasantly surprised - firstly the bed was SO comfortable and the rooms were really nicely done and clean and modern, really good. It was just off a main road so really easy to access but was so quiet when trying to sleep. It’s got dog friendly rooms and our dog had plenty of space and nice little grassy area nearby to have a potter about / toilet etc easily. The best part though was easily the price - excellent for what you actually get. Whilst you’re not going to be staying here for a holiday, it’s excellent for a stop over or a night if you’re nearby for a wedding etc. We found lots of places asked for £10-30 extra per night for a dog to stay which was incredibly frustrating (and ridiculous) especially when you just want a quick cheap stop over place without frills, so when we found this place that didn’t charge extra it was a no brainer and instantly drew us to it as a strong plus. We go every year to Devon from London and this was the first time we decided to stop off en route and having found the Sun Inn we’d definitely look to stop off each time we go now!

The staff were nice and friendly, breakfast was I included in our room rate which was an unexpected lovely surprise. They had a fidge in the room as well. The food we had in the bar was lovely. It was nice the rooms were a separate part to the pub so noise wasn't too bad (apart from one evening where there was a function on)

I was charged twice for my stay. When we checked in I was told booking.com had not paid the hotel my payment. The hotel asked for my card details as they said they needed them for confirmation and then asked for confirmation that I had already paid through booking.com. they advised that i wouldn't be charged again for the room. Then they decided to charge my card for the cost of the room. I wasn't very happy with this. Their issue was with booking.com and have left it to the customer to sort out. I had to call booking.com to investigate to find out what was going on. My thoughts, the hotel should have contacted booking.com directly to investigate their issue, why charge the customer again knowing that it would be charged twice and leave this to the customer to sort out.

The Sun is a lovely pub with very helpful and welcoming staff and we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely our room was. The rooms are located just beyond the main pub next to the beer garden but they were still quiet and beautifully clean and spacious. The shower was great! The value for money was exceptional, the rate we paid included a hot and cold breakfast in the morning too. The staff went out of their way to help us including allowing us to have a drink late at night after we returned from a friend’s wedding. The Sun is situated next to Coate Water park also so we had a lovely walk around the lake in the morning. Would 100% recommend to anyone needing to come to Swindon and I myself would most definitely stay here again.

There is nothing to dislike!

We had a twin room with my friend for one night. The room was big with 2 single beds (quite small but comfortable), chest of draws, desk and a chair. There was a kettle and choice of tea, coffee or hot chocolate. Location was nice, bear garden, children play area, lots of options for a walk, lake is a 5 min walk and we like a lovely garden with flowers by the lake. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Restaurant food was good and served quickly.

I wouldn’t call it spotless clean, there was some dust in the corners. Breakfast choice could have been better. But all this didn’t affect our stay.

Location from the aspect of breaking up the journey and picked the hotel due to being next to a country park, which was lovely. Room- size, cleanliness, decor.. Staff - dealt with immediately with no problems. Food - breakfast sitting in the sun with my two dogs. Vegetarian breakfast option. Dog friendly- no extra charge, lots of outdoor tables to sit at, great walks in the area.. Parking - hotel car park. Watching the rabbits in the garden running about in the morning.

The room was very spacious, the bed was cosy and the bathroom was nice. There was a lot of parking available for guests and rooms are away from the pub area so there is no noise to disturb you. The breakfast is huge and tasty! Great location if you are travelling in the car and if you want to have a quick dinner without figuring out where to go.

You can see the room was used a lot of times on some parts of the wall, but the overall feel and the bed are great!

We stayed with our dog for 1 night. Great location. 2 minute walk to the park which is a lovely lake with lots of wildlife. Staff at sun Inn were lovely and very attentive even with it being so busy! Food was lovely. We had a sharing platter and then had 2 dinners and cannot complain with price or quality. Room was spacious and quiet. Bath was great and bed amazing. Cannot fault one thing on our stay!

the rooms were a good size, dog friendly and equipped with a fridge too.

there was very loud music playing for the beer garden from early to late. we were hoping to get a meal at the property, as it had a good menu. when we arrived we were told there was a reduced menu, as they had staff issues. we booked a table for that evening anyway. when we arrived in the restaurant, there was no food available at all.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner were superb, the portion sizes were just right and great value for money. Staff was super friendly and accomodating. It said 'dog friendly' in the hotel info when we booked online but we were suprised just how friendly it really was. Lots of owners and dogs frequent the pub and outdoor seating area. The area surrounding The Sun Inn is wonderful for walks, training and play sessions with the dog. Fields, meadows, a forest and lake make it a perfect spot to spend the day. I am a light sleeper and the pub is next to a busy road but the rooms are way in the back and I was not bothered by the noise at all. Close to town and the M4. Perfect for a night's stay when passing through. We will definitely be back!!

We cannot think of anything we or our dog did not like.

We arrived a bit early, but they got our room ready straight away. Sunday Lunch was nice, Breakfast Very good.

We did have a Booking In Problem, We were asked to pay when we booked in so we payed in full with a credit card. When we returned home we found a Receipt on our computer from Booking .com who had also payed the sun Inn So we had payed in full twice ? How did this Happen, We have never had this happen with Booking .com before. We had to confirm with our Credit Card company that we had paid twice, and contact the Sun Inn to arrange a refund. I dont know how their computer system did not Flag up that they had already been payed by Booking .com.
