Very clean. Rooms spotless. Comfortable beds. Good varied menu and excellent food well presented. Cooked breakfasts very good with good options but 'continental' type options very limited. Friendly efficient staff. Good hospitality tray in the room.

Not much not to like. Traffic noise with bedroom windows open on a hot day a bit annoying but knew about that from previous stay and well, it's on a road with traffic so be expected. and quietens down at night. Of an age where a walk in shower would be good rather than a bath with overhead but then you can see that too before booking so no surprize there.

Lovely rooms, everything you could have needed was in there. Comfy beds, lovely bathroom. Nice selection of teas and coffee. We ate at the restaurant downstairs for dinner and it was lovely! Really good value for money and you could tell the food was all fresh. Breakfast was amazing, selection of cereals, fruit, pastries and jams as well as a hot breakfast of your choice. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

The only thing I could have said was that the rooms were quite warm. Even with the window open and so a fan would have been a welcome addition to the room but that is literally the only thing! It didn’t stop me wanting to come back.

From start to finish our stay at the Alvanley Arms was excellent. Upon our arrival, we were met by Karen who showed us to our room (which was lovely) and throughout our stay she was brilliant - full of energy, extremely positive about everything and a credit to the Alvanley Arms and the hospitality trade in general! Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the food excellent and we would not hesitate to stay there again in the future. All the staff were very friendly and the pub has a lovely outside seating area overlooking a lake and next door to a shire horse centre. The location is ideal as it can easily be accessed from Chester and also the M56/M60.

Lovely aged building with everything you’d expect with an old building, our room had exposed beams in the wall and ceiling. Beer garden outside overlooks the neighbouring Shire horse centres lake, where you can watch the horses and other wildlife go by. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and you could also help yourself to cereals/pastries.

Our bedroom faced the road, which was busy, it was a warm day/night so the window was open, luckily the traffics quietened down in the evening. And the curtains and substantial and also blocks some of the noise out. Once asleep, we slept well

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were lovely, decor was done very well with lovely little personal touches, it was very comfortable and cosy - very cottage like with beams running through the rooms. Bed was comfortable, you had everything you need coffee, tea, biscuits, kettle even an expresso machine, hair dryer and so on, tv was a smart TV which worked well on there wifi. It had a lovely bath with amazing shower - rainfall shower with option of handheld, good pressure and temperature, bathroom was very modern As for the bar restaurant and outside it was also very lovely and comfortable, the food was delicious and it had a great choice of food and drink. The service was again very good & helpful we had no need for anything and we didn't have to wait long for food. Outside had a lovely view with pond and beautiful trees, great for the summer days (lots of seating), there were horses and pony's roaming in the the fields around. It was a great location for us, about 4mins from Oulton Park. Great value for money based on the area and accommodation Will definitely stay here again

Not much tbh The noise from the road can be a little noisy if your having an 7pm early night but that's it, there's no noise through the night. The pic don't do its justice, Don't belive they have updated the pics after updating the rooms.

Quite simply the best pub experience ever. We stayed one night here to celebrate our first anniversary having lunch and 3 courses for dinner. The location is ideal for a getaway with a beautiful setting and large garden seating area too. The views with the nearby riding centre and water feature make this a very relaxing location. The pub itself is kept very clean as are the bedrooms and bathrooms. Very very good facilities for a pub stay. Everything is modern in a traditional style. The food is delicious. The double cooked chips are amazing and i never thought I'd say it but that perhaps was perhaps the best rump steak I've ever had. Prices are competitive too!! The breakfast is top notch, can't be faulted!! The staff are so helpful, friendly, attentive and patient, not in a rush even if busy. We can't wait to come back here again and can't recommend this place enough!! Thank you tov all the staff that helped make our stay here truly the best day ever!

Fabulous location for a day at the races. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Rooms beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, although a little small but it is a 400 yr old building. The bed was so comfortable we had a really good nights sleep.. Ate downstairs in the restaurant for evening meal and breakfast - tasty, quality food. We can not fault this place at all as it exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return.

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted in a lovely and friendly manner. The meal was perfect Rooms were lovely and cosy .

I didn't like the staff member that was on breakfast , she needs to work on her customer service skills . And there was trouble with the at the end when we were checking us all out . It was wrong on there behalf. My sister heard her slagging us off behind the scenes. And she was quite rude towards me .

Alvanley Arms is beautiful! Such a high standard of decor, presentation, attention to detail and of the highest quality. Setting is gorgeous, sitting in the beer garden watching the ponies, ducks, swans and shires in the background is idyllic. Food and service was great. Right next door to Cotebrook Shire Horse centre which is a real treat!

Our reception, indeed our whole stay, was professionally managed but with a relaxed, friendly and personal touch. The food was well above an acceptable standard for this type of establishment as were all aspects of cleanliness and comfort during our short stay. I would recommend this to friends and would certainly visit again.
