Hotel rooms and beds were great. The hotel was very quiet, as was Kelsall as a town - it was superb for a very restful stay. Andrew (the Manager) was professional and very helpful, as were all the other staff who were very welcoming, attentive and engaging. Everyone helped explain things about the local area to us, which then helped with our other travel plans. Menu for meals was very extensive, and the quality of our choices was very high. Certainly a nice place to go out for a meal/drink, as well as stay. The hotel has a heritage (which I particularly love, in a stay !) and was really nice to see pictures of the hotel's past, and a nod back to preserving the bygone traditions of successfully providing such a lovely service, peaceful environment, and restful experience to its traveling customers.

The only very minor consideration is potential for noise, across any exposed wooden flooring, and further minimising this. I was slightly disturbed sleeping through hearing "heels" on either corridors, or within other rooms. I stress this didn't affect my stay, and is only a consideration, due to how otherwise silent the rest of the hotel was, along with any noise in an extremely quiet Kelsall town. If it would have been noisier, I would have filtered things out !!

This is our second visit - a different room, but just as good as last year. We recommended this hotel to two sets of friends, who also stayed this time and also liked it. Very comfortable, good food, friendly, good location. Plenty of parking. We're all planning to stay again the same weekend next year.

It's a shame it's not open Monday nights on the May Bank Holiday weekend, as we would have extended our stay, but we appreciate it wouldn't normally be worth their while.

Such a lovely pub/hotel. Large and spacious bedroom; tastefully decorated and furnished. Exceptionally clean. Great parking for our motorbike and additional parking to the rear of the hotel. Looks like it has a really good beer garden. The staff were all friendly and attentive. We would definitely stay here again.

It's a personal preference but the curtains let in a lot of light from the morning sun and therefore it was an early wake-up despite being a really comfortable bed. (Easily remedied; I'll bring an eye mask next time.) Not moaning about it being sunny though!!!!

The location was the nearest we could find within reach of wedding venue . Room was lovely and airy with good facilities

Music early on Sunday morning playing could be heard in room. Rang hotel on Thursday before arrived for help with organising taxis over weekend stay . Was given one number which never picked up . When arrived asked again for help and was told it was a busy weekend with weddings and they could get a reply either . Had to do our own research for Taxis in area and eventually did manage to find two taxi firms that could help . While we don't expect the hotel to find a taxi we felt they could have been more helpful re pointing us in right direction of who to ring

Lovely clean on-suite large room with character. spacious bar and restaurant, great parking especially for disabled, proactive friendly staff, lovely location with easy access road infrastructure in a quant village setting. We were made very welcome and there was a general feel good factor amongst staff, guests and local customers especially in these challenging times.

Difficulty in booking taxis (Aintee grand national racing to blame) for shopping in Chester. Access to rooms by stairs a bit of a challenge typical of many grand traditional smaller hotels, but, not insurmountable if one has some independent mobility.

Lots of choice at breakfast. Limited menu if you were staying for any length of time. A specials board serving locally sourced foods would be a nice touch. The dessert was way too big.

A directory in the room, giving wi fi details, local attractions and services would have been helpful. No waste bin provided in the room. The tea and coffee and biscuits weren't replenished

Lovely Twin room to match the Cheshire countryside hotel setting. Comfy beds, large TV, large modern shower. Free car parking. Later check out time 11:00am on Sunday.

Booking.com descriptions made NO mention of the hot & cold breakfast offered to us on arrival for £9 per person. This was no problem to skip breakfast as we enjoyed a Saturday evening meal and Sunday lunch

The room was a good size for two people and it was clean and comfortable. We didn’t have breakfast but both our evening meals were very good. The staff were friendly and accommodating and were always happy to help.

Nothing, we were happy with everything.

Very friendly man as front of house and very nice Stand in Bar manager. To be fair all staff were excellent. Comfy bed, roomy, good parking, quiet, free wi fi. Bath and shower. Good food quality apart from hash browns at breakfast.

It was a little expencive for what was in room. I think better value might be to add a coffee maker type machine in the room or just something slightly extra to add to make it feel special. Bar Fridge, nicer biscuits, just something to give it a little perhaps. The hash browns supplier needs changing. as noted in other reviews
