Well presented, clean and couldn't fault the spa and gym facilities. Lovely grounds and great central location for the city. Food was good in the restaurant, good choice in the evening. Staff friendly and always close.
Just missing the extra touches that you seem to get as standard in similar (if not cheaper) Cheshire hotels - especially since we upgraded to a suite. E.g. information about the area, hotel and restaurant in the room, a decent selection of tea/biscuits and not just English breakfast tea and a couple of digestives. There was no coffee machine, it was a kettle on a table. It'd be nice if you offered vegetarian cooked options without the £5 supplement. E.g. vegetarian sausage / halloumi roll where you offered bacon.

Always love our stays at Rowton Hall Hotel but this time my back massage was exceptional! I was booked in with Sarah and she was excellent! Afterwards my shoulders and back felt amazing and knot free! Really recommend her and will ask for her next time we stay! All the staff were very professional and polite but Olivia in the main restaurant went above and beyond for me! I asked her about the dressing on my starter salad and she kindly asked the chef and gave me the exact ingredients and how to make it! She is definitely an asset to the restaurant team! The crispy beef salad starter was exceptional! Enjoyed the spa pool area and was glad the steam room had been refurbished as it was closed last year on our visit!
The only thing I can think of was our main course in the main restaurant was steak and chips! Nicely cooked, slightly pink just how we like it but it was quite gristly and difficult to cut!

The staff were amazing, very friendly & accommodating & took care of my needs, the room was beautiful and the bathroom just wow! Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous and exceeded my expectations
The room to have a fan (it was the hottest ever day) i rang reception for one which was delivered but it was tiny & pretty useless Cobwebs above curtains (not hard to reach to clean either!)

My second stay here and the staff go above and beyond, the room was spacious and well-decorated, the grounds are extremely well kept with lovely outside patio spaces, the spa facilities are superb. I had a bath in my room which is quite unusual these days in a hotel. I had bar food which was very good. I like that you can choose from the fabulous restaurant menu but eat it in the bar area. I tweaked my meal with mix and match and the chef was very accommodating in this respect.
The only imperfect thing was that due to personal preference, I couldn't find a pillow amongst the four in the room which suited my neck, so slightly uncomfortable.

We booked dinner at the restaurant as well as booking breakfast ,I am very lactose intolerant which I had emailed before hand. The chef had gone through the whole menu marking what i could eat safely and marking where they could make changes so i could have it. Not many places will change dishes or bother to make it easy to find whats safe so i really appreciated the time and effort they put in. The food was absolutely delicious highly recommend the restaurant. The hotel is in a lovely location with plenty of parking, staff were all very friendly. Room was clean and smelt fresh.
The room could use a few cosmetic tweeks(wall paper coming off), and unfortunately for my knees it was at top of some steep stairs. The beer was on first drink off, barman even said they had thought earlier that it was off, but they still served it? This did unfortunately cause quiet a lot of stomach distress.

The hotel is in a lovely rural location close to Chester. A beautiful old building and the room was quiet and comfortable. The food at the evening meal was excellent. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
The service at the evening meal was woeful. We were served by four different young servers none of whom seemed to be communicating with each other. They all lacked training and confidence. We sat outside and the young lad said he would be back to wipe the table. Another arrived and put the cutlery on the dirty table; we asked for it to be wiped. They forgot to bring the water. The starter was excellent and the cutlery was removed. The main course arrived with no cutlery; we were worried that the food was cooling rapidly as the evening was becoming chilly, and had to request cutlery again. It was all slightly offbeat and amateur considering the high value aspect of the hotel.

Everything. The room was great, the staff excellent and the food was really good - whether at breakfast, in the bar or restaurant the quality of the food and its cooking was superb. The facilities in the pool were perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed resting, swimming, using the steam room and sauna. It was too cold to venture out in the lovely gardens but it was a picturesque view all the same. Will happily go again.
Ask about where your room is, as the stairs could be a bit off-putting for some people.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was our wedding anniversary and we were wished Happy Anniversary as soon as we arrived. We even had a plate with chocolates and strawberries in our room. The bed was really comfortable with lovely pillows and bedding. There was a good choice of quality food at breakfast and dinner. The gardens were lovely if a little wild in places.
The spa changing rooms were littered with used towels and flip-flops. They were also extremely cold. There were no clean paper cups for drinking water. The steam room didn't seem to have any eucalyptus present. The bedrooms seemed a bit tired. Our first room didn't have working lights so we had to change rooms. The second room had a broken hook in the bathroom, a broken toilet roll holder and fittings missing off the bath taps. I would have preferred a choice of coffee at breakfast eg laté, cappuccino etc.

Incredibly comfortable bed, slept so well! Lovely Spa facilities with steam room, sauna and pool, nice changing areas ...Wish we'd had more time to have a treatment too. check in / out times were accommodating so no pressure to be out by 10... really friendly and helpful staff, Thankyou Rowton Hall for a great overnight stay!
Our room was fine but the bathroom was on the small size, and the shower screen not very effective leading to a very wet floor, plus a very noisy toilet cistern which took a looking time to refill.

Love the hotel and the location being a stone's throw away from Chester! We love the charm of the hotel with the dark wood walls and old fashioned features! Our room was clean and adequate and in fact was the same room we had last year which was abit weird! Enjoyed the spa steam room and sauna jacuzzi and pool area! We went there early evening before we out for dinner into Chester! It wasnt too busy which was great! We were going to go in the morning after checking out but it was really busy! We stayed Saturday to Sunday just one night at the end of January 2024!
The breakfast menu had changed abit and even though we paid in advance for breakfast there was a supplement to pay if you wanted a full English and other choices! Abit disappointing as last year there was no extra to pay! Probably will book room only next time!! One lamp at the side of the bed in our room wasnt working! We swapped the bulbs around and it was fine! We forgot to tell reception when we checked out! Room 209
