Lovely village pub, due to use the bar has limited opening times and there is no food on Monday and Tuesday. However, lovely bar and had a couple of pints, bar staff very chatty and good beer. We had breakfast in the dining section of the bar and this was excellent. The room was very nice, plenty of room and snug. We took out dog and he was made very welcome, only a small extra charge of £6 which was very fair for the extra cleaning. Lovely village, plenty of walks and very close to Chester. We will return :-)

It would have been nice to have been able to get food in the evening but do understand the reasons.

beautiful big room based inside an historic coaching inn…wonderful decor. Made to feel welcome, even Little Lenny was made welcome (our furry baby ✨🐶✨). Quaint village with lots of history. (lovely & peaceful). Really enjoyed breakfast, we sampled both continental;which was ample! also the cooked, also very tasty & plentiful too! Lenny was given a biscuit on both mornings. We highly recommend this stay & will definitely return! It was an ideal location for visiting our family. Also a great location for several surrounding areas like Chester city etc ✨☺️✨fabulous! Lovely room (room 2) really nicely appointed and decorated. Nice atmosphere in the pub with super friendly staff and locals alike. Nuno, Jess and their team always go the extra mile for their guests

Room was a little chilly even with rads turned up full. Pub doesn't typically serve food on Mondays and Tuesdays in winter, but staff are always clear when this is and on "food nights" will make sure the kitchen stays open for guests if you tell them in advance that you're planning to eat - understandable for a small rural pub out of season

Lovely staff, nothing was too much for them. Beautiful village location in the countryside yet a 10/15 min drive into Chester. Lots of nice country walks on your doorstep. Clean comfortable rooms. Free parking right outside the accommodation. Lovely pub for a drink or two. Fantastic breakfast. Genuinely dog friendly!

Some nights they don't serve food or they do but service finishes fairly early. This is totally fine but they clearly communicate it to guests who are staying with them. In fairness they are more than happy for you to get a takeaway and even eat it in the pub/restaurant if you like. They will even give you suggestions on whats good in the area!

I loved everything 😁 ...appearance beautiful, spaciousness wonderful, shower and basin splendid, bed so comfortable and cosy 😊😊😊😊😊 Beautiful little terrace outside the door with bistro table and fairy lights 😁 can see the church tower nearby. Would love to stay again in the Summer and sit outside if I can afford to treat myself 🤞😊🤞 Host communication excellent and so kind to let me check in at 12 rather than 4 😁🤗✨

I loved it all, it was chilly on arrival but I checked in early at 12 instead of 4 so it just needed time to warm up...an electric blanket or big hot water bottle would be lush as energy so expensive at the moment and it is a very spacious room 😊 Need to take it steady carrying bags up and down the fire escape style entrance steps to first floor level.

Food was delicious, staff super friendly and helpful. Beautiful inn on beautiful grounds in a beautiful location. Perfect distance into the city centre of Chester.

Could have done with a dusting off of the cobwebs outside the room. The bathroom smelt like bleach and a slight musty smell as you walked in the room. (Dog maybe) animal hairs on the bed settee. Only one time available for breakfast, only offered beans on toast as a veggie option, my husband had full English.

Great location. For me it was for work, but as a tourist it would be spot on. The room was great. Plenty of space, all the comforts for a break. And although greeted warmly by a member of staff who helped with bags, I was left to myself which I like. I was also contacted once I had left about my request to possibly stay one more night. They were helpful and flexible with my request. Worth noting that my room and one other is accessed via steps. Not an issue for me at all but worth being aware of if mobility is an issue.

Beautiful, modern and calming place to stay or use as a base. The rooms are well decorated and the bed / shower are perfect. Accommodation is attached to a quaint little pub that is very welcoming with good drinks, tasty homemade food and that rustic old pub feel (roaring fire etc). The staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you, particularly the Portuguese chap (who I assume owns it). Highly recommend this place to stay as value for money was excellent. Will definitely be re-booking.

Such a pretty place, amazingly helpful staff, lovely and calming room, nice beer garden and a fab location for our visits to the Crocky Trail and Ice Cream Farm. The pub food was decent in the evening (my son said the sticky toffee pudding was ‘epic’), although the salmon was a bit over cooked. Overall, we felt so welcome (me and my two children aged 4 and 10) and had such a great stay.

It would have been brilliant for there to have been a fan in the room/available to borrow as it was hot (obviously the heatwave was not in your control!), there was a slightly limited selection at breakfast which could have catered better for kids, however the owner did pop out to get Nutella for my children which you’d never get at a chain hotel!!!! Thank you!

Priced amazingly and good location for the zoo as we drive! Free parking on site right outside room and private entrance meaning it was easy to unload the car with two children one being 10 months old and we felt more comfortable coming and going without worrying about disturbing others!

Room was uncomfortably hot and unfortunately both sets of blinds in the room were broken so we couldn’t open them, made the room feel a little dull and when window was open the blinds were blocking any air and we couldn’t leave door open due to baby and we had a metal stair case outside! It was a shame as my two girls enjoyed looking out the little window as it was floor level but I couldn’t sit holding the blind up the whole time for them.
