Lovely spacious bedroom with a nice big bed. The bathroom was a great size for 2 people and really clean. I used the pool, sauna & and steam, which were great and also got to join in an aqua aerobics class for free. We got there early as we were going to a wedding nearby and needed to change clothes. The receptionist was really kind and helpful, letting us use the spa changing rooms to get ready and storing our luggae for us. All the staff were really nice, helpful and polite.

There was small construction work going on poolside so it got a little loud. However, it didn't last long and obviously it was work that had to be done so couldn't be helped.

Hannah on the reception was lovely. Happy and chatty Need more bar staff bt also needs a bit of a routine with the food for the dyaff having no idea where to go. No table numbers..... Easy fix Good nice hotel room. Breakfast happy days. Nice grounds Lovely bed and very hot water which I love Ardene course really nice 👌 I'd 100% come again maybe for a little bit cheaper price. The spa was spot on Hottest ever steam room 👌

Need more staff foe drinks in the day and the price. Bit steep. I'd be happy ro stay again the bar was lovely

Nice hotel in the middle of a golf course, night was dark and there was no sound even with the windows open, the staff were very professional. I took my dinner in the bar and had the fish and chips was not too bad but it had nothing on the breakfast, continental and a selection of hot options, I of course went for the full English and for once the bacon was cook correctly.

WIFI..... what wifi... there was little to no signal in my room 131 being on a golf course there was no phone signal at all either, this made for a testing time of the evening, I reported this to the reception manager and advised they need to sort that out. as per the what I liked section dinner was ok what I did not like was the £3.30 for a pint of diet coke.... its just CO2 water and syrup at the ends of the day...

This is our second stay (with the dog) in a few months. The setting is idyllic and peaceful. The staff were friendly and the facilities good

The nightly charge for our Dog. I can understand a one off payment for any extra cleaning as we pay this when we hire a cottage for the week, but nightly charging seems a little excessive, especially as she didn`t have a swim in the pool or use the spa facilities!!!

Toaster machine. Had to ask for tea/coffee at breakfast. Staff not attentive when seating guests should take tea/coffee order, too. A few little things, but just nit-picking, really. Why have barrels reserving car park spaces??? I have a blue badge and had to park around the back of the hotel, not a golf guest, I think you prioritise golf guests, perhaps. Overall, good.

Very pleasant and friendly staff who tried their best to look after our large group. Clean and comfortable with decent food from the restaurant. Lovely grounds and a decent golf course despite the very wet conditions of late. We’re likely to seriously consider Portal for our next family gathering.

Our group included some 90+ year olds with mobility problems so we needed 3 out of the 4 accessible rooms that the hotel had to offer and only 2 of these had walk-in shower facilities. We’re not experts on accessibility and lucky to have so many elderly folk to look after but we’d hoped that the hotel would’ve had more appropriate facilities for the elderly as well as other requiring accessible rooms.

Lovely staff and really enjoyed our day/night. Food was really tasty and rooms where spacious and an amazingly comfortable bed!! Plus for me was a bath which is very rare now in some hotels so that made it for me!

No sports on the tv as we like to watch some football or any kind of sport of a night if it is on, considering its a golf hotel i found it a bit strange that they didnt have sky sports or any background noise ie music?? xx

lovely setting, sat on the terrace and enjoyed the view. The room was spacious and comfortable, parking very easy and genreally neat and tidy

Breakfast starts at 06.30, there were several other guests waiting at 6.30, but no restaurant staff arrived until 06.45. An early start is wasted if the staff do not fulfil the commitments made

Excellent welcome and service from all staff, thank you. Great deal on booking.com brought a good hotel within budget. Lovely executive room with very comfortable bed and gorgeous pillows. Good bathroom. Dinner was excellent - chargrilled venison was particularly fine. Leisure club looked smart but insufficient time on this visit. I was able to connect to wifi but the firewall was not allowing connection to my work system.

I would happily stay here again. Wi fi issue was a pain - works elsewhere.
