I didn't have breakfast as unfortunately forget to select the breakfast option when booking my stay, which I regret now as had heard good things about the breakfast. I'm Autistic and Dyspraxic, so found the owners Felicity and Paul to be very kind, patient, understanding, friendly and helpful and were very welcoming too, so would highly recommend Barclay Court Guest House. My room was very cosy, the bed was very comfy and was very peaceful and clean where I was staying with very little disturbance, so a lovely guest house overall and enjoyed my 3 night stay there. Nice tea and biscuits too and an excellent job of cleaning my room was carried out.

Lovely hosts that really give their all to make your stay as pleasant as possible. :) Comfortable and modern family room with comfortbale beds. Good breakfast. Not to far from the city centre. About 15-20 Min. to the harbour and gardens. Parking spots right in front of the house. :) This house got lovely art all along the staircases. We used our stay here to do the Canonteign Falls which was absolutely brilliant.

Room was excellent family suite for three, bonus of the single bed in a self contained room, making for that bit of extra privacy for our daughter. Nice corner shower, easy and controllable to use with plenty of hot water. Towels in bathroom of a generous size for a change unlike a lot of hotels. Décor simple yet elegant. Breakfast cooked fresh to order and liking also choices of Juices, Cereals, Toast, Yogurts and fresh fruit, Plentiful Tea/Coffee to start the day
All fine

Paul and Felicity were the perfect Hosts, very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrive to our last night.. Barclay Court is a beautiful guest house in a good location Away from all the noise to give you a peaceful night but within easy walking distance of everything Torquay as to offer.. We stayed in room 5 which was a excellent size with a huge bathroom with a large bath and very good sized shower unit. The room was very clean had a TV, and coffee and tea making facilities which were refreshed every day. Overall we really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely stay there again on our next visit to Torquay.. Would highly recommend Barclay Court Guest House...

N.B..at this point I would like to point out.. Please ignore the negative reviews older then 6 months because they DO NOT reflect the new owners by any means. When we arrived we had a warm genuine welcome and we were shown around and our bags carried to the room.. We immediately noticed how clean the room was and the decor was very nice.. Our first breakfast was a (getting used to the way we like our food) great experience and everything was well presented.. Fresh fruit.. orange and apple juice and a nice selection of cereal and a help yourself to toast which you prepared yourself, I actually like this way. The actual full English breakfast was a prepared order form which you filled out the night before, but the cook (owner) was prepared to alter should you change your mind, for instance, the way I like my sausage and eggs cooked are very fussy, but this was no problem to them. There was tea and coffee and a selection of biscuits in the room and a modest tv in one corner and the room itself had lots of storage... the bed was Very comfy and both myself and wife dropped off to sleep quickly. We encountered no issues with hot water and always managed a hot shower, and the towels were changed every day if left on the floor and the room was always ready when we got back from our outings. Our over all experience was top notch and we both felt like we had known Paul and Felicity all our lives, they were genuinely very nice people.. We shall certainly be returning as we had a wonderful Stay...Thank you so much to the both of you.. Cheers
We genuinely have no negatives to mention, we truly had wonderful stay.

Breakfast had a good selection of fruit salad and yogurts plenty of brown and white bread to do your own toast lots selection of cereals and fresh fruit also was a selection of jam and marmalade with fresh orange juice and apple juice before your cooked breakfast which was lovely with a pot of tea or coffee. On Arrival felicity and Paul were very welcoming we stayed in a lovely double room which was perfect nothing was to much trouble if you needed anything you only had to ask we will be returning next year . Also there was a fridge in the reception with cold drinks which was a added bonus that we didn’t know about Location was good walking distance to shops and beach .

We received a very warm welcome on arrival. Our rooms were all ready for us, spotlessly clean (just for reference, I am a retired Army Sergeant Major, I know what spotless looks like) and everything worked (TV, kettle, hairdryer). Had a great night's sleep, no road noise, or noisy neighbors. Breakfast was consistently excellent. Hosts were on hand with tea and coffee as soon as we sat down. Felicity and Paul are make a great team, and excellent hosts.
We honestly couldn't fault the Guest house, and the services provided. A lovely place to stay. Clearly the area has a parking problem. Although not an issue for us, as there was space for parking on site, pretty much every road in the vicinity had vehicles parked on both sides. This made viability difficult. Not much can be done about this obviously. The guest house is 1 to 1.5 miles from the main shopping centre for the area. Being Torquay, there are a lot of steep hills in there too. Something to consider if you want to go to the sea front/shops on foot.

The guest house was well presented and immaculately clean. The owners were friendly, cheerful and attentive. Free on-site carpark is always a positive. The family room was lovely. We couldn't fault it. The single bed was even in it's own little room off the main bedroom with a second loo and sink. Perfect.
There was nothing we didn't like.

As my daughter has moved to Torquay. I stayed here for two nights. Prior to that I stayed in 2 separate hotels. This guest house was far the best. You walk in, immediately your welcomed by felicity who is so lovely. The house is so homely with the little touches. I was shown to my room and if I wanted extra tea, coffee or milk, I just had to ask and be replaced. In the hallway they have a little fridge if you wanted cold drinks and water. Then I went into the diner area were a full English breakfast is served everyday or if you wanted cereals or toast. You have your own room and at the back is a door which leads onto the garden and you have your own number bench chair 🙂😎 You can sit out during the day or night to look over. The bed was also comfortable 😌 I loved it that much. I booked for 4 nights for 2023. Thankyou Felicity and Paul for your wonderful Hospitality. Your such wonderful Host. Look forward to seeing you next year. All the best Diane xx
