Fine location. Outside of Torquai. So you need a car. Very quite. And a very nice view on the sea. Nice garden..Good breakfast an a choice for europran people not to have all the sausages and eggs. The is continental. Nice people to help you and to give you good information. Very nice diners we had. A wide choice of food and wines. Would return again.

Difficult to get there as the directions you get from tomtom or other systems is bringing over very small roads. They should give some additionele info on the website. The first night our room was not oke as we had 2 separate wobbely beds. Lucky they changed us. Difficultvto get upstairs to your room for elderly peopke.

The hotel is impeccable, beautifully furnished. We originally booked a standard double, but due to the amount of stairs we decided to upgrade to a deluxe double room. It was very larg, themed decor, very tasteful. Bed was of high quality, large working TV. Bathroom was exceptional, large shower, and separate bath. Breakfast was £10 extra each ,but well worth it. Great food. We had a 3 course evening meal ,which was wonderfully cooked and presented. Good value as well. Staff at this hotel were very helpful, and willing, and knowledgeable.

Initially, I didn’t want to pay extra for a double room, but I have to say, after our experience in this family run hotel,I’d happily stay here again. (And fully intend to). Couldn’t fault anything here.

This hotel is such a gem. On arrival the staff were so nice and warm and friendly. You could immediately tell that it was a family run private hotel and not a chain. I had assumed it was a chain because of the OYO logo but apparently that's just another booking site that makes them use their branding. Don't let that put you off, it's not a chain at all. The staff were the same for the whole of our stay so we got to know them just a little and they really looked after us. The overarching ethos we decided they must have was "how can we make this even nicer for our guests?". The cream tea and the cake were both amazing. Bottomless tea with that! What a great idea! Later checkout than most hotels. Accommodating unusual breakfast requests. Coming to get you for dinner from the lounge and carrying your drinks through for you.... everything was just so considerate. We can't wait to go back.

Nothing to report here. We liked everything. We had very simple requirements and these were fully met.

This is an excellent small, family run hotel, with very well trained staff who are both friendly and efficient. The restaurant is superb, especially the chef's smoked cheese souffle. Afternoon tea is also very good with delicious clotted cream (so much better that the one you get at NT properties!). Breakfast cooked to order, and very good value.

Make sure you get the code to the front door which closes early on Tuesdays (as we discovered). Also note hotel operates the policy of only cleaning your room if you put the "make up my room" sign on the door. First hotel I've stayed in that does this. Hotel is somewhat remote - you really need a car or expect endless taxis.

UPDATE TO THIS REVIEW We booked this hotel through Booking.com and paid for 2 nights full board, which includes dinner, bed and breakfast. On arrival we were told that the restaurant isn't open on Tuesday night so we couldn't have dinner there. They said we should claim a refund through Booking.com. After several weeks and a plethora of attempts I finally got hold of someone at Booking.com. I was told they'd look into the matter. That was in September. Heard nothing since and no refund. The VERY LEAST the hotel should have done is refund us for the dinner we had to pay for in Torquay. Although I gave it a glowing review 1st time, we'll never stay at Orestone again and will advise our friends and family not to either. Breakfast was very good The room was lovely. We were in Shire outside which had a living room and bedroom. The hot tub was super, state of the art. Not one of those circular ones but a 2-person tub. The staff were really helpful and polite.

The restaurant food was exceptional and the hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed sitting in the early evening sun on the patio with a drink with a lovely view.

Location of property on a steep hill meant it was a drive everywhere with a difficult sharp bend onto main road. The restaurant closes Mon and Tuesday evenings and no cooked breakfast on those days but we knew these things when booking.

We spent a few great days at the hotel. Stunning views, a well-kept territory, tranquil, even though the hotel was fully booked. Our room had a huge high four-poster bed that was impressive. We had a lovely time in a hot tub every morning with birds singing and fascinating views. And also, after the sunset - under a spectacular night sky and with owls hooting :) You can relax at the hotel all the time or, for example, take a walk to drink coffee on the beach :) There were tasty breakfasts and dinners. And you should try five o'clock tea on the terrace :) The staff is polite, and there is a generally pleasant, relaxing atmosphere.

There was an issue with the cleanliness of the room, which was solved promptly. And as noted in other reviews, the communication between the staff has room for improvement. When one of the employees promises something, then, unfortunately, this information may not be passed on to others (as with late check-in and a compliment from the hotel).

Great place for a holiday. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and responsive. The rooms were very comfortable. Overall the hospitality was second to none. The highlight for me was the food in the restaurant. The excellent chef(s) produced some fantastic meals at a very reasonable price.

Nothing of note

The food was not only beautiful and very tasty, but excellent sized portions too. The choice was excellent, the venison and Halibut were especially delicious. Our room was cozy, with stunning sea views and lovely and quiet as we were on the top floor as requested. Thank you everyone.

We would have liked to be able to choose what time we ate our evening meal, however do understand that as they had a private function on both evenings things were busier than usual.

Orestone a Georgian manor has fantastic views over Lyme Bay and very friendly staff. Our arrival was delayed (the joys of cycling) and we were going to miss our planned dinner booking. With one call our dinner was moved to a new time as late as possible in the day. So glad we made the dinner, the food was fantastic, a theme replicated again at breakfast. Our spacious room was decorated to a high standard, immaculately clean with a good size ensuite and all the necessary tea/coffee facilities.
