This is a lovely traditional old stone pub, with the rooms in a separate attractive building at the back. Plenty of car parking with 24hr CCTV, albeit unlikely you’d be concerned in this little village! It is still a pub in where you can get a drink through the day, but it’s obviously used more as a restaurant as there were no other customers when we arrived. We were greeted by a very friendly man, given our key and a firm to pre order breakfast. We booked for dinner in the evening. The restaurant was busy and justifiably so; the Indian food was amazing and clearly what they are known for. Having said that, the full English breakfast was good and plentiful. Bed was very comfortable and room was immaculately clean. Thanks again for the loan of the phone charger!

We struggled a bit with the shower temperature, was somewhat boiling then freezing!

I have managed to stay here over a period of about 9 weeks this year, just left after a 2 week spell. The pub is a great place to stay, drink and eat. The food is of a very high standard but reasonably priced (favourite is the Sea Bass, crushed potatoes, spinach, olives and tomatoes 👌), service is hotel standard, great selection of drinks, Tracey and the team always chatty and ensuring everything is okay. The rooms are always clean and you walk in as if you are checking in every day, the lady who looks after ALL the rooms needs a massive shout out. Sandeep and the team are so courteous and welcoming. Cannot recommend this place enough.

To far away from where I live!!!

The restaurant is run as an Indian and some of the best food ever! You can have the usual pub grub but we had curry three nights running :) because it was SO good and with colleagues. Breakfast one of the best and staff so nice, been back (for work) even though the village is quite secluded and a twenty minute drive from my clients factory. This is our choice of accommodation when working in this part of the country but by no means just a place for work stays... could easily have a nice time with family.

I am being brutal now but got to say something for balance.... the pub is closed on a Sunday evening as too quiet for them. However staff were around to meet us late (amazing but we did panic on arrival and my fault for not taking the calls from an unknown number during the day). We simply walked a few hundred yards to another pub for that late drink.

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The food in the restaurant last night was superb.

Whilst breakfast was quite good, with a little adjustment it could be better. A toaster on the buffet table would permit fresh toast rather than it being brought out earlier than you might want it so it goes cold before you eat it. Also, the original 'pop-up' plugs in both the bath and the washbasin had gone and were replaced by loose ones. It was, consequently easy to drop something right down the waste (think rings, earrings, toothbrush). It wouldn't cost much to replace them properly. I think the school report might say 'tries hard but could do better', and all it needs is a little more attention to detail. It is so very nearly very good.

We had a bar meal on arrival and it was exceptional. My husband had a beautiful curry and my choice was tempura prawns. Both meals were excellent in flavour and presentation. A spacious room with beautiful crisp white quality bedlinen. The breakfasts are to die for. Great servings and a lovely variety of choice. I chose two poached eggs on brown bread with spinach, bacon and a pot of baked beans, which was exceptional quality and served in eclectic surroundings. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Oh and the flagstones and oak beans added to the authenticity of the surroundings. A true gem of a find.

I found the bed to be a little hard, although ok for one night. Perhaps a bed topper would alleviate this problem.

We were made to feel very welcome from start to finish, told to think of it as our home and nothing was too much trouble. The room we stayed in (6) was fabulous, very spacious with a huge double bed. We could not fault the food, it was excellent, always hot, tasty and cooked well. If like us you don't eat a lot of Indian food, we just asked and everything was explained to us which made our choice easier. There is also a more traditional English menu, (or you can mix & match, which ever takes your fancy). It was always delicious. Can't thank the staff enough for making our 2 night stay very enjoyable.

Nothing really but if we were to be a bit picky, the outside of the accommodation doesn't belay what is inside. Also the plumbing can be a little temperamental and the choice of continental breakfast is a little limited (but none of this is game changer).

My train to Corby was delayed and I hadn't anticipated that you need to book a taxi in advance from the train station (be warned!) so I had a late check-in, and arrived just before the restaurant stopped serving in the evening. However, I was made very welcome and told 'this home is your own' and to take my time settling in to my room. I was exhausted from travelling and really appreached that! The room was very spacious and it was lovely to be able to look out onto the garden - sadly not accessed due to the persistent rain. The bathroom rain shower, however, was very welcomed! Plus the heated towel rail and small patches of underfloor heating. All the staff were lovely and very attentive and I have absolutely no hesitation in commending them. I would just suggest that Senior Management might need to take a deep dive into how they might best support staff during uncertainty associated with a change of ownership.

The Hotel is currently in a transtion of ownership and this reflects in some gaps of service. It would be great if you could address this. I would have welcomed an 'Introduction to The Marquess of Exeter' booklet in my room over and above the statutory escape route map pinned to the door, plus a WiFi code, check-in and check-out times, breakfast times and evening meal times.

Lyddington is a picturesque, tranquil village with the Marquess of Exeter nestling in at the heart. The welcome was full of warmth and efficiency, The rooms are in a separate block across the car park from the main pub & restaurant. The room was typical country rural, well appointed and very clean with a comfortable, if perhaps slightly squeaky bed. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service of high quality too, the only negative being perhaps it was a little too quick!. A very comfy bed led to a good night's sleep, with one exception, see below. I had to leave before breakfast but if the food was anything like the evening meal, I think that I would have been pleased. An exceptional find and one which I will most definitely return to.

The only slight downsides were a slightly squeaky metal frame bed with the other issue that of creaking floorboards from the returning quests in the upstairs room directly above mine at around midnight. This awoke and disturbed me from what would otherwise have been a very nice and comfortable sleep. But these were minor issues and only made worse by the fact that I had an early start in the morning. If I was staying longer, they wouldn't have had any impact or mention at all.

Excellent restaurant for food and service. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good to have the choice of Indian and English cuisine. We enjoyed dinner last Saturday immensely. Breakfast was also very good. Convenient to have a ground floor room in adjacent annexe. Plenty of car parking available. Good for our base in a nice quiet village as it is near to Rutland Water etc.

It was a shame that grass in the rear garden was so long that we couldn’t sit outside on a lovely day. Especially as there were several bench seats. However, there were a couple of tables at the front of pub and entrance. A grab handle would have been appreciated above the bath.

The hotel was lovely. The staff were extremely helpful and very welcoming. The breakfast was excellent made with good quality products and the evening meal was very enjoyable. Value for money was very good and I would certainly stay in this hotel again. The room had everything you would require and the bed was very comfortable. Quiet rural location... perfect.. and free on site parking.. bonus!!! Lovely stay.

The power of the hairdryer could have been better but this is more a point to consider when the hairdryers require replacing. It did dry my hair.. it just took a little longer.
