I loved my stay at The George Hotel! The overall hotel, my room, the staff, the breakfast all met and exceeded my expectations. Tilda was an especially present, helpful, and friendly member of the staff. I would definitely stay here again, and I would definitely recommend others to stay here.

Although Breakfast was very good - offering both 'continental' as well as 'menu' items - they were a little short staffed. The staff that was there worked very hard and were very attentive, but at peak morning hours, they were spread a little thinly. 1 more staff member at breakfast would have made it perfect.

Charming building with lots of character. The staff were very friendly and the central courtyard is a lovely place to sit with a drink.

Although there are ground floor rooms that are possible to access with a wheelchair, the arrangement of the furniture inside them (particularly the desk in room 102) makes it more difficult to get the wheelchair into the room. Further, there are several fire doors between reception and the room and they do not have push button self opening mechanisms, making it even more difficult to access the room.

Excellent room. More coffee/etc sachets than I have ever seen in a room before. Comfortable bed. Shower and overhead spray in large shower area. Breakfast was absolutely brilliant with huge full English. Very friendly staff in restaurant, who were not on hand but in kitchen when I wanted to pass on a personal thank you, unfortunately.

Wanted to go out for early walk at 0730 and didn’t know how to operate the security gate. Quite straightforward as it turned out, and hadn’t checked to see if there was info about that in my room.

Breakfast was good value for the money. had an issue with our first room but the staff were happy to relocate us to a different room. My wife and I had a great time at the George Hotel and would recommend to others for a great stay. All the staff were very accommodating and very professional and polite and helpful. We will be back again one day soon.

Our first allocated room was above the main bar which we could hear the music from our room. It would have been nice to have been told prior to booking. The issue was resolved.

The location was perfect for my visits to various relatives in the area. I stayed for four nights. The hotel— especially the lovely courtyard was also perfect for entertaining, even for a family with small children at lunchtime. Wallingford itself is an interesting town with a variety of places to eat and shop. I found evening entertainment at a film show and and the local Cafe Scientifique—look for noticeboards around the town, there's quite a lot going on here. I enjoyed walks along the riverside, around the castle and chaperoning children in three excellent playgrounds, including a splashpark. By chance my visit coincided with a sudden heatwave and the annual Agatha Christie weekend. The hotel was very busy but the staff were cheerful and helpful at all times. A special thanks for the sachets of oat milk in my room, alongside the usual treats and some excellent toiletries. As an older person (75) I was happy to see a grab rail in the shower and to know there is a night porter. I have stayed at other coaching inns in the area on previous occasions and always been disappointed. The George in Wallingford restored my expectations of well-equipped, clean accommodation and good customer service. I'll be happy to return.

I found the bed rather uncomfortable. Fortunately, I can usually sleep anywhere after a long active day, so didn't lose any sleep. I would have liked to use the restaurant more, especially for breakfast, but the menu was too traditional and the food too heavy for my taste, especially in such hot weather. Perhaps it's tied to a corporate menu form the Peel group? I am also vegan which would have made four days' choices very limited. There are plenty of alternatives in town.

If you want to have more choice for breakfast at the buffet table, you need to be there early as there is no top up when food item had been consumed by earlier guests. The breakfast which you can order from the menu is good for what it is worth.

The establishment only allocate one staff to cater for the whole morning's breakfast and the lady who was put in charge looked quite stressed , having to take orders for the cooked breakfast, serve and clear tables.

Location excellent, 3 min walk from the bus stop. The building is very old and full of character. Room clean, bed very comfortable. Some furnishings a little older but still very nice. My room was looking across the back courtyard and very quiet Make sure you go to The George in Wallingford and not in Dorcester - Google maps wanted to take me to the latter and they are both located on a ‘High St’

Nothing!

We stayed here as is close to RAF Benson, where our son is based. Our son was able to catch bus into Wallingford to meet us. Hotel is central to everything. Meals at hotel good, staff friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable, plenty of storage. Lots of walks to do. We visited couple National Trust properties whilst there too.

The shower was very powerful ( which was good) but so much so that first time I used it, it flooded bathroom floor! There was a noise early morning, possibly boiler or generator ( not sure) that went on for couple hours each morning.

We have stayed at the George several times. Ideal base for exploring and meeting with our son who is based at raf benson. Breakfast very good.

I booked a double and a single room for us. My daughters room was on 3rd floor (303) , although the same great standard, it was too hot in there. She did have use of a small fan but it didn't do much. Consequently, she didn't sleep very well.

Location of hotel ideal for all the activates we had planned for the weekend. Comfortable and clean room.

Nothing to really not like as such. However the reception area seemed to be unoccupied a lot of the time, which resulted in not always being available to ask some minor questions. This did not detract from the overall good experience we found during our stay.
