Steph and Richard are the loveliest hosts and we will definitely return to stay again if they will have us! They were so accommodating and gave us lots of great recommendations for restaurants, museums and other things to do locally! Really lovely and happy couple that take pride in providing the best for their customers. Richard and Steph ensure you have a comfortable and welcoming stay. Provide you with information of all the places you can visit. The rooms are clean and comfortable with all the necessary items you would need, plus more. Lovingly furnished rooms and wonderful garden with plenty of seating to enjoy the outside. The breakfasts were excellent and the best I've had in a long time. We would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.

The property was easy to get to, clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The owners were wonderful, had great suggestions and made us feel like we were staying with friends. Breakfast was delicious, and we felt very well cared for! Would stay here again with pleasure!

We had a picnic in the lovely garden. When our hosts saw us about to drink wine from plastic beakers they brought out wine glasses! Very much appreciated.

Dorset has a surplus of traffic jams, particularly at road works when THERE IS NOBODY WORKING!

My family had a very enjoyable family mini-break at Spurwing last week. The property is set in a very quite residential road, but close to Wareham station and town centre, also very close to Sandford, so a good base to visit the Isle of Purbeck. We stayed in the front bedroom, think it was named 'spoonbill'? (A wading bird for sure). The bedroom was well furnished, immaculate and had the largest bed I have ever slept in - bliss. Steph and Richard are really great hosts - the breakfast choice was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. They were able to recommend local restaurants and even set the dining table for us to have a chinese take-away. My son loved the secluded back garden and watching the Koi swimming in the pond. What a shame it was only two nights we had and I'm not surprised to hear they are often fully booked. Highly recommended.

Only that having the private toilet/shower room directly across the shared corridor was slightly less than ideal - and the sliding shower door was a bit too tight for me to get in (the shower was really good).

I found the pillows not to my liking, but that is a personal preference.

Room was scrupulously clean and beautifully presented. The ceiling fan was a big plus. Even the biscuits were exceptional. The local information sheet was useful and informative. Lovely garden and pond. A really calm and peaceful vibe. The hosts, Richard and Steph are lovely.

Room was a little small and it was slightly noisy.

One thing we did not realise at the time of booking is the garden! The owners (Steph and Richard) have an ambient, cosy garden, perfect for breakfast on a sunny day or for a chat in a warm evening. You get to know the owners (and other guests if you wish), everyone is extremely friendly and the stay gets very comfortable. Steph and Richard were very flexible with our demands (time of breakfast and arrival + train delays), artfully managing a full house of guests in these socially distant times. They have also been extremely responsive before our stay and helped us with planning our trip (NB: they prepared a useful guide for the area and available services, see their link upon booking). The beds are brilliant, the cleanliness is impeccable (daily clean-up, as you'd expect in a hotel). Richard is a great chef! Our breakfasts were yummy and filling, setting us up for a full day. They also have a cat (Jessy), but she won't bother the guests (in case anyone is allergic), as she has her own entrances and favoured spots in the host's area; but you can sure give her a stroke if you wish. Less than five mins walk from the station and the Breezer bus stop (for Swanage eg).

The sound isolation is not a thing, so if other rooms are occupied and people wake up earlier than you, you will 100% hear them and their movements. When the guests opened and closed the bathroom door (for the room with the bathroom across the corridor), it felt they are opening/trying to unlock our own. That wouldn't bother you much though, as the atmosphere in the house is the friendliest it can get, and you're likely to sleep over it after a full day outside.
