As a lone female traveller I felt very secure staying here. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable.

I will never understand why so many people give negative reviews of this place. The location is perfect for all amenities, and the staff, especially Steph, and Ali, are exceptionally friendly and professional.p, and a joy to talk to. I will admit that yes, the building is dated, and needs a bit of a makeover, but don’t we all? It all adds to the superb character of the place. I’d much rather stay in a hotel like this, than a posh 5* one any day.
Water pressure in the shower could be increased to a better level, and controls to lower the amount of condensation that appears in the bedroom…

Perfect location, just had to cross the road from the station.Lady on reception was very welcoming, and told me the best way to Parr Hall, where I was going to a concert. The room was clean and comfortable,it was good value,I like the older hotels,as they have single rooms.I went for a walk in the afternoon, the lovely town centre was only 10 minutes away.Parr Hall was only a few minutes from the hotel,so it was easy to get to the concert and back.I left next morning after an enjoyable breakfast, they made me some nice scrambled eggs,as the eggs had all gone.It was a nice stay altogether,I would definitely visit again.

The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked and available promptly at the restaurant opening time which was crucial for my schedule. The location was perfect for the Bank Quay railway station and also convenient for shops and the town centre nightlife. The staff were excellent. Reception was very accommodating for a late train arrival, and I especially liked the dry sense of humour of the gentleman on duty on the Saturday and Sunday mornings.
I could have used more information about the breakfast set-up, as I didn't know until the restaurant opened in the morning whether I would have time to eat there, and since the bar was already shut the previous night there was nobody to ask. This is only a point of information, as the arrangements turned out to be completely satisfactory.

Quite an impressive frontage, built in the 1800's, on entering through the wide double front doors, one can imagine at a glance how up market this would have been in the day. Have to give Mr Sharma the owner, full marks for attempting to retain many of the original features and period furnishings, đź‘Ťđź‘Ťđź‘Ť. Now let's get down to brass tacks! Breakfast room, well laid out, clean and orderly everything as you would expect, food, ample for the most generous portion, Typical choices, full English, various cereal, fruit juice, coffee and tea, all with a customer service person in attendance should anyone need assistance. Bedrooms, very spacious, all the linen pristene white and fully ironed, en-suite clean and chrome work sparkling. The next bit you either like or dislike...... Floor boards quite creaky, I personally liked, as I think it adds authenticity to the Hotel.... Finally location. 50mts from Bank Quay railway Stn over the road, don't let that put you off!! Absolutely no noise whatsoever in the evenings or overnight, very good sound proofing.....
For me nothing......

Location was literally just over the road from the train station and a short walk to the venue we were visiting. Less than 10 minutes walk to the centre. Staff friendly and helpful, we could leave our cases between check out time and our train so was much easier to wander around the shops and have lunch without having to drag our luggage around. Room was bigger than a lot of twin rooms I have stayed in. A bit dated but had everything you needed including a couple of packs of complimentary biscuits. Room, bedding and towels spotlessly clean. Beds very comfy. The ground coffee at breakfast was a bonus
Rooms need upgrading but if that was to be done then the price of a room would probably double. Possibly add decaf coffee and vegetarian option at breakfast but having said that I was happy with eggs on toast

Spacious and comfortable room, spotlessly clean and well supplied. Beds are very comfortable. Good filling breakfast, well cooked and hot, proper table linen and a "grand" dining room. Great location. The staff are always lovely and very welcoming. It's an old-fashioned building, we love its big windows and high ceilings, it's surprisingly cosy and warm for such a large place. Love it there.
Not many free parking spaces, but it's right opposite the train station, so great for rail travellers. There's a public car park right next to the hotel.

Location is ideal for us. Room was immaculately clean, bedding and towels spotless. Bed was very comfortable, tea coffee and biscuits supplied and all toiletries. Warm, cosy and well-aired. Breakfast was brilliant, hot and fresh. Best of all, the staff are so lovely, nothing too much trouble for them , and so, so friendly. Incredible value for the cost. Stayed before, and will happily stay again.
As in any older accommodation, shower water pressure not that great, but plenty of good hot water, just need to be patient! Other reviewers complained about the older style furnishings, and said the location was noisy, but it's opposite the railway station and the Court buildings, it's not a boutique hotel or a romantic hideaway! We slept well every time we stayed, whichever room we had. The best value for money we've found in the area.

location, not far from Parr Hall Venue. Our room was pleasent tidy & clean. Breakfast was nice, choice of cerals and cooked food. There is a paid car park just to the side of the hotel which is cheap enough for 24hr, if you do look they have a small car park at the rear of the building, I think you can use. I would go again
Toilets are on second floor there are none down stairs, awkward if you have a disability - we also had a room on the top floor. Venue was booked to see a band last minute so had to except what I could find. I also couldn't work the shower, my fault im too short,

Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Bathroom large and airy. Spotless linens, good TV, and plenty of storage. Breakfast was very good, dining room pleasant and quite grand! Staff were welcoming, helpful and efficient. Limited free parking, but secure parking available 24 hours next door. Furniture a little dated in style, but hey, it's not the Ritz! Refurbishment going on at the moment. Good value for the price, much cheaper than a Travelodge and so much nicer.
The usual things with an older building - low hot water pressure so the shower was adequate but not fantastic.
