Beautiful location with gorgeous views across the lake and beyond. Stayed at Brockett Hall with my mum for her birthday, as this is where she was born when it was a maternity hospital during the second world war. The room in Melbourne Lodge was lovely and spacious and nicely decorated with a huge bathroom. Reception staff were brilliant. Friendly and very helpful.

The only unfortunate thing about this trip was that we were unable to go into the actual hall where my mum was born, as there was a film crew there. Very disappointed even though the reception team did try their best to see if this could be made possible.

Location was fabulous. Room wonderful with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent and the grounds are just wonderful to walk around.

We stayed on a Tuesday evening so the main restaurant was closed. The only other restaurant on site was the golf club but strangely the kitchen closes at 6pm - we only arrived at that time so had missed the opportunity to dine there so had to find somewhere outside of the hotel grounds which was disappointing. Same with the bar - it closed at 8pm so although we absolutely loved it - just consider what is important to you before booking depending on what day of the week it is.

Awesome location. Ability to freely walk around the large and beautiful grounds.

Some facilities are a bit dated (e.g. bidet in the bathroom did not work, and one of the taps was a bit "temperamental"), but it arguably adds to the charm of the property a bit

Most beautiful setting! Food absolutely delicious and sitting by the lake enjoying a meal and a drink will be one of best memories. Room just a little tired, needs a bit of a refurb. But beds were super comfortable with lovely white bed linen. The amazing old trees on the property were stunning. Great for walks around the lake watching the golfers.

Bathroom was rather dated and bath was so high it was quite difficult to step out of. Only shower was the one over the bath. We spent 2 nights, first night was a Saturday - rather noisy with 2 weddings on the go, but didn't really spoil the overall experience for us.

The grounds are fabulous. The property itself is a little confusing do not follow the Sat Nav as it will take you to the former entrance where the intercom is broken and you can’t gain access, it’s another 2.2 miles to the actual entrance. Check in was great but beware of signage, eventually we found the car park for Melbourne Lodge. Access is via key fob which is a great security feature. The room was clean and tidy but the decor let it down slightly. Comfortable bed. A great breakfast too.

I prefer places that don’t accommodate children but as this was a spur of the moment stay it couldn’t be helped. Every Mother and their Aunt seemed to reside above us with kids constantly running around upstairs until 10.45pm it sounded like a herd of elephants. We’ve all had children and know how excited they get but really no need. The taps in the bathroom could do with a little adjustment.

Excellent location for total peace and quiet, although there are two golf courses in the grounds, my Wife and I don't play, and still didn't feel the "odd man out". The scenery was lovely there are some very nice walks in the grounds, the lake, woods etc. Reception staff were very polite and helpful, as were all the rest of the staff we met.

We were fortunate to have hot weather (26-28 degree's) the drawback being, as Melbourne lodge is an old listed building, there's no air conditioning, the fan provided was inadequate, but when asked a extra one was provided.

Nice grounds and a great breakfast.

If check-in could be a bit earlier it would be better as you could have more time.on the grounds to look around.
