Beautiful property, sympathetically restored, warm, comfortable and meticulously clean.The room was very stylishly appointed with a very comfortable bed with good linen. The bathroom well lit with an abundance of quality towels and toiletries. Well stocked coffee/tea and a full bottle of organic milk. Good black out blinds and very peaceful. The restaurant was fabulous, we had probably the best dinner we have had in some time. The chef is talented and creative, the service excellent. The staff are outstanding- they seem to be very happy in their work and it shows.We arrived early and were immediately accommodated to get ready for an event. My wife felt a little under the weather after a very early start and the lovely receptionist thoughtfully came to the rescue with water and snacks.

There was nothing to fault

The room was fantastic, fantastic views and a great size for all of us. Food was amazing. A huge choice for breakfast. We brought our dog who was looked after just as much as us. The staff couldn't do enough for all of us. Several excellent walks to do and the hotel even provide wellies if you don't want to get muddy!

The steam room wasn't working when we were there. The pool was quite small and extremely busy at times with a couple of members determined to get their laps in taking up a large portion of the pool. Felt like an intruder just getting in their way.

It's a very pukka place! It is not pretending to be a cheap motel, and it is definitely not that! You pay top dollar, and the place matches the price. There is a welcome glass of prosecco, which was a very nice touch. The bedrooms are beautiful, and the service is more like butler service. The restaurant is very traditional, with lots of wood, and huge sash windows, white table cloths, and excellent service. The spa is very tranquil, and you can book a massage or other treatment. Breakfast is cooked to your order. There is lots of parking, which is good, as by car is definitely the best way to reach the place. On leaving, they even send you away with water, orange juice, fruit, and flapjacks for the journey!

Not a lot, really! The bill at the end is never going to be priced like a budget hotel, as this is a top-notch establishment! One gets what one pays for!

The location on a long private driveway through Yorkshire Daleslike Countryside is beautiful I can see it being an ideal wedding location , but any special birthday or even a Company Reward location for successful Employees.A real treat. The staff are amazing and make you feel on arrival that you are joining a family group, you immediately feel you are a member ! The building is Classic History and the immediateiate gardens a joy to behold

Nothing , everything was perfectct.

I enjoyed a great nights R&R during a long journey south. Staff were so kind and attentive. Spa treatment was a perfect antidote to a stressful journey. Room was very comfortable; food delicious , in particular the breakfast. A bag with water and snacks for my onward journey was a very thoughtful gesture. Grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Will definitely return.

The place is absolutely beautiful and in really lovely grounds, the staff were helpful kind and friendly, Prosecco given to you on arrival and a little gift bag when checking out which had water a couple of protein bars and an apple each for your onward journey, our room was standard but so lovely a clean and a very nice comfortable bed, we didn’t want to get up! Aircon in the room is really good for these warm summer nights, food very good too

Staff were wonderful, room was clean and well appointed, bed was massive. Enjoyed the pool and spa massage therapy. Breakfast offered a great choice and dietary requirements well catered for. The chef's tasting menu was superb!

The bedside lights could have been (a lot) brighter, and the volume of the TV would rise and fall unpredictably.

The setting of the hotel was beautiful The room was huge and well furnished with all the extras you would love to have for a comfortable stay. We ate in the bar and the range of food was excellent and the quality out of this world.. Breakfast offered a massive choice and the staff could not do enough to make you feel really special. The attention to detail was amazing.

It sounds cheesy but there was nothing that we didn't like The hotel and spa met all our expectations if I could change one thing i would say the upstairs was warm Ididnt feel uncomfortable but could be a little cooler

A fantastic location with a good small associated spa. Both the room and the staff were fantastic.

There were limited vegetarian options on the main menu as the “zalmon” was not available either evening however the front of house team provided the causal dining menu which had good veggie vegan options which we could have in the more formal dining room.

Dinner in the restaurant was excellent.

Opening my door was a challenge. It would be a good idea, I think for staff showing people to their room to give a demonstration of how to open the door. There is a trick to it which guests need to know about. I understand that the door mechanism is to replaced throughout the hotel quite soon.
