March 2022
We booked a junior suite because we wanted a large double bed. The room was very large with a big sleigh bed, settee, roll top bath and fab shower. It also had two sets of French windows leading out onto a balcony with seating. Very clean and I think just recently decorated. Lovely l’Occitane toiletries and soft fluffy white towels.
A small niggle was that the room was directly above the hotel’s outdoor bar/smoking area so we felt unable to open the windows (it was a really warm week!) because the cigarette smoke rose directly into the room. This didn’t matter too much as the room was air conditioned. Some communal areas ready for redecorating.

From the flawless check in to the bar service, everything about our stay was of the highest order. All the staff were polite, friendly and more than capable. The eggs benedict were the best I've had anywhere, ever, off the charts. Evening meal was amazing, from the chateaubriand to the black pudding starter and the creme bruleee dessert and all in between it was divine.
The half board tariff made no mention of the supplements to be paid for certain dishes, even the maitre d didn't mention it when ordering our first evening's 3 course inclusive meal. The extras bill did though...charges we weren't expecting certainly added up over 3 nights.

After a disastrous stay in York 23/24 Aug. We opted to drive to Harrogate the following day and reserve a room for the night of 29/30 Aug. After checking a couple of hotels, we were welcomed at this hotel by Joshua and Charlotte. We were shown the room we would be allocated when we returned which was beautiful. We made the reservation immediately and then left on our travels knowing we had a great place to stay. We returned last night and we greeted by Gerry who retrieved our reservation and notes from Charlotte. Sure enough we had the room we had been shown. A beautiful room, very comfortable bed, outstanding walk-in shower and all the comforts. We had dinner which was wonderful, accompanied by wonderful service from Evan and the evening crew. We had breakfast this morning which was exceptional so all in all this hotel is not only excellent value, you enjoy superb service and without doubt we will be looking for a hotel of the same name in future travels. Well done Hotel du Vin!!

It was a welcoming environment with tasteful decoration and classical looks, also everything worked and it did NOT look tired (unlike the Cheltenham Hotel Du Vin!).
Bedroom was very warm even though the radiators were off. Whilst they did have a desk fan in the wardrobe (for use in the room), they tend to be too noisy to sleep, whereas a ceiling fan would be a significant upgrade as they are a lot quieter and more efficient (perhaps this feedback could be considered). The window did open though, however we had to compromise on light pollution by opening the curtains to keep cool, which meant we did not have a good night’s sleep. The beds were very comfortable though.

Reception and bar staff were really welcoming, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was great - choice of cooked or continental with plenty of choice of both and all fresh. Right in the centre of Harrogate within easy walking distance of everything. Really nice L'Occitance toiletries.
We had a basement room with very little light. It was hard to put on makeup as it was so dark. Whilst the hotel has 'first-come, first served' parking at £15 per night and recommends a payable car park near by, it doesn't tell you that you can park right outside on meters (if space available) for £5 between 6.00pm and 11am (certainly on weekends, not sure if this applies to weekdays). Only 2 English Breakfast Tea t-bags provided meaning if you wanted a cup on arrival and the following morning you needed to drink something else or go and ask for more.

One receptionist was outstanding . She was kind and helpful. The hoterl had a good pation garden and a good bar. The bathroom was very large and well appointed
It seems to be very common these days. The information given is misleading. The info said there was car parking. It did not say that it was on a first come first served basis and that it cost £12.By the time one gets the info it becomes difficult to book elsewhere. There were two receptionists and, as said, one of them was very good. However, one of them was very unhelpful to the point of rudeness. She said that the £12 parking fee was at the bottom of the page. I have not checked this yet.I think it should be upfront. So does the government ,which is thinking of making charges that are not clear and up front illegal. It's a real pity as the hotel was a gem.

The lady who greeted us and checked us in was lovely. The hotel was super, the room we had was to an excellent standard. Little extras that add to the stay like coffee machine in the room, dressing gown and slippers were appreciated. Parking was perfect too. A fantastic bath and phenomenal shower.
We had a dinner bed and breakfast rate and while good value for money neither I nor my husband enjoyed the food, maybe it was just what we ordered. As there wasn't a lot on the menu that took our fancy, that's not to say the food was horrible just not to our taste.

We stayed at The Hotel du Vin ahead of a trip to the theatre. The room was spacious with a huge bathroom ( including L’Occitan toiletries) & looked out onto The Stray. There was plenty of tea, coffee, bottled water & biscuits in room plus a fridge and a super comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious & served in a lovely environment. Just wish I’d booked it when I booked the room as it would have worked out more cost effective. Great helpful & friendly staff…and the location is perfect … all in all a great place to stay & definitely our future ‘go to’ in Harrogate!!
Nothing to report!

Everything from the moment of arrival to departure. Wonderful welcome- fabulous room and amazing bathroom - coffee machine, chocolates, fridge, bathrobes, l'occitane toiletries, huge bed, lots of space, lovely view of the Stray. Asked for a jug of milk for the room for my tea - no problem - nothing was too much trouble. It was an absolute delight to stay there - we stayed in a room named Freixenet on the second floor. The location is perfect - a stone's throw from Bettys and all the best shops.
No negatives it was perfect
