Our room was named "Test" (named after one of the three rivers that surround the area). It was spotlessly clean and when walking barefoot across the warm flooring you could just tell how clean it was - not a grain of grit at all! The bed was comfortable with beautiful bedlinen and the rainforest shower was easy to use, an ample hot water supply and good water pressure - it was lovely. We had an absolutely delicious evening meal (house burger and chicken supreme - both highly recommended. The bar staff were all so lovely, attentive and helpful, without being intrusive. I would have originally said that The Bugle Inn was quiet, whilst we enjoyed a late afternoon latte in the bar, however, we dined at 6pm and by 7pm it was a hive of activity geared up to serve families to one side of the restaurant and couples and adult groups to the other side (not sure if this is intentional or not, but it worked really well). We'd visited Winchester for the day and didn't want to stay in town, so this was a swift four mile drive away. We were able to take a walk to a nearby recreation ground where we gather there are several walks.

We'd turned in quite early, not that it kept us awake, but we could hear the odd beer barrel (?) being rolled out the back quite late and then very early in the morning. Staff were very obliging in replacing two hard fried eggs and, if we were to be really fussy, we would have preferred 'back' bacon as opposed to 'streaky' which was a little tough.

breakfast was very good choices and well presented we ate dinner in the inn and the food was very good The chef is an excellent cook .

the bedroom Test named after the local river was good and a very nice bed . but the windows in both bedroom and bathroom need attention esp the bedroom as it doesn't close well. Also there seems to be problem in the corner of the bathroom as the ceiling paint is flaking off a little . A grap handle to get in and out of the deep free standing bath would be helpful when showering .

When we arrived the staff were very friendly, our room was lovely and clean. We ate our evening meal in the packed restaurant, the food was delicious and tasty. We also had a fabulous breakfast there aswell and the service was very attentive. The whole place has a lovely warm, cosy feel, helped by the log fire and fairy lights. We were glad we had chosen to stay the 2 nights here for our visit to winchester Christmas markets, and would definitely return when in the area.

The room we stayed in was overlooking the back and over the kitchen so it was quite noisy ,late evening then very early morning. The temperature was freezing at night so could have done with a thicker duvet or blanket, glad I took my hot water bottle😁

Really comfortable air conditioned room decorated beautifully. A lovely large en-suite bathroom with Victorian style fitting. Breakfast was awesome and included in the price. Staff were all friendly, helpful and courteous.

It’s a shame they aren’t open all week (closed Monday and Tuesday)but that didn’t affect us on this occasion anyway.

The service was first class. We booked due to there being Scallops on the menu (plus it was convenient for Portsmouth) unfortunately they weren’t on the menu that night however the food we had was excellent. The next day we enjoyed the best breakfast we’ve ever had in a hotel, well done. Also the lady serving it was lovely, a credit to the place

Scallops on the menu ! (Only joking , it was all perfect)

Very welcoming, helpful and friendly staff, couldn't have been any better. Lovely clean and comfortable room, good value and great that it included the lovely breakfast. Dinner was delicious, if we return to the area we wouldn't look for anywhere else to stay (near enough to Winchester where my son was taking his driving test)

The food was excellent

I was concerned that in our room Test, there was a shower over bath with no way of steadying yourself or non-slip mat. At over 80 I was afraid to have shower for fear of slipping with no means of support. This was a definite minus for me. I had previously requested a walk in shower but to no avail. The approach to the room up a flight of cob-webby external stairs was surprising.

Food was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Nice to have large bath towels and plenty of hot water.

Room did not fit the description on Booking.com website, which differed from the Bugles own website. Bathroom was cold despite towel rail being on. No plug sockets near the mirror to be able to use hairdryer easily.

Staff were great. A young workforce who knew what they were doing and went above and beyond to help customers. The room was very clean and tidy and complimentary items such as toiletries and tea/coffee were of a decent quality, not the usual cheap stuff. Enough car parking and of good quality, secure. Restaurant/bar was good, food was excellent and atmosphere was friendly. Overall a good place to stay.

Nothing I can think of. Toilet roll holder was loose, but that was not really a problem. So, I have no negatives for this place.

Food was excellent, the included breakfast was lovely and the paid for dinner the night before was really good, it’s like a Gastro pub. Ample Parking, A/C, room was incredibly clean, bed comfy, bathroom was a nice size, great shower pressure, amenities were really nice! staff was lovely, helpful and accommodating.

When booking did not really realize it was a pub, a bit loud until closing, guest from next door kept letting their door slam( not the inn’s fault). small but a bit off putting was that I had to step around a few garbage bags on way to breakfast table…. other than that it was a good night stay on an in between night on our journey.
