Lovely old coaching Inn with great decor appropriate to the age of the building. Lovely range of tea and coffee and complimentary bottled water . Our room overlooked the road and we created it might be noisy but it wasn't at all thanks to the double glazing. Rain shower was a bonus. The toilet seat was very loose and impossible to sit on without it moving sideways. We meant to report it to the staff when checking out but had an urgent phone call the following morning and we had to leave very quickly. The breakfast is very slow , even though we said we had to go urgently, but there was only one member of staff on duty and it was on the cold side when it did arrive. We would love to go again when things are a little less frantic and enjoy our stay and our breakfast at a more leisurely pace. We couldn't locate a car park when we arrived but there is lots of parking opposite next to the Bishops Waltham palace. There is a Crown Inn sign next to the car park entrance. Just approach the barrier and it opens for you automatically. The staff give you a code to put into the code on the barrier when you leave.

Wonky toilet seat. See comments above. Slow breakfast

I always stay here when visiting this area as the establishment never disappoints. Great location in the town centre within easy reach of all the amenities. I have stayed in various of the rooms, all are presented to a high standard and despite being a period property they include modern features such as walk in rainfall showers. Plenty of tea and coffee facilities and water are provided that are replenished every day. The breakfast options are good, both cooked and continental offerings, and the restaurant has a decent menu.

It was very old and rustic with character the bed was very comfy and big and it had lovely white robes slippers bottled water coffee machine and a selection of coffees and lovely short bread and a chocolate each, a roll top bath and separate shower and his and hers sinks and a 4 poster bed

The room was very dark and a bit spooky and the cereal selection wasn’t great all we were offered was granola yogurt with berries or bran flakes there wasn’t any other choice if you didn’t like that and we had the vegetarian full breakfast and the sausage was a weird shape about two inches round and three quarter inch deep and so rock hard you could break your teeth on it, awful, tea was nice and toast was a choice of white or brown, no quite back ground music for a bit of ambience so if you spoke anyone could hear you

Without exception, all the staff were friendly and helpful during our short stay. They clearly work very hard to ensure the guests enjoy their stay. This is a historic inn, with changes in floor level which some may find difficult but adds to the great character of the building. Despite being at a busy Road junction, the room we stayed in was quiet, and had an effective air cooler which was appreciated in the warm weather. Our room was small but comfortable and charming, its features being part of the uniqueness of the old building. The location is great, with the palace ruins and other places of interest in this fascinating town within walking distance of the hotel. We would stay again if visiting in the future.

Although at breakfast it was evident that dietary restrictions are catered for, the menus have limited choice on offer. The food was good however - especially breakfast.

Staff very friendly and helpful especially Helen and Gina. Great food and happy to personalise dishes. Handy location near shops etc and good secure parking.

We stayed in room 5 which according to the floor plan is the smallest room. Comfortable but very cramped. Reported the wobbly loo seat and the sink plug wasn’t working either. Had to prise out with fingernails. The hotel wasn’t busy so sorry not to have been given a bigger room. We stayed 2 nights and would definitely stay again. Thanks for the complimentary beer. We eventually found the bottle opener on the side of the table. A small fridge would be useful.

We stayed in Bedroom 1 (the one with the four poster ped and wall panelling) and we could not be happier. The rooms was beautifully furnished and presented, very clean and spacious. Food is the pub is fantastic, we recommend the faggots! Breakfast was very good too. The pub is not open to the public during breakfast, meaning the place is nice and quite to enjoy breakfast. As expected in a pub, it can be noisy during the weekends. There was live music when we stayed, which can be heard from the room. With that being said, everything stopped at 11pm, which is a very reasonable hour.

The property is soaked in history but has all the modern comforts and facilities, including an artisan coffee selection. We had dinner and breakfast, which were lovely, good choice of food, pub really buzzing, excellent beer( Seafarers). Very large, free carpark on the opposite side, near the village museum. The best was Gina! She was there to greet us with a smile when we arrived, served us dinner and, she was there to serve us breakfast too, always with a smile, kindness and professionalism. Thanks Gina.

Scrupulously clean, very comfortable beds, fantastic room with free beer, good lighting, (complete with nautical history - we were in Tridente), huge bathroom and shower. Breakfast was simply fantastic. Staff were excellent. Location is great for visiting the Abbey ruins, then continuing on to the old train track for a decent dog walk.

Some road noise, couldn't work out how to use the fan. Disappointed that there were no Yorkshire puddings with the roasts or crumble. But the food was good

What a beautiful setting the pub is full of character with plenty of history, we stayed for one night and the room was decorated lovely in keeping with the building, my only negative point was the bed was extremely hard and I didn't get a good sleep although it's my preference to have a soft mattress. The evening meal was excellent "hands up to the chief" as was the breakfast I had eggs benedict which were cooked to perfection. The staff were all very friendly especially Brandon who was very professional with a lovely manner. I would definitely recommend a visit. Maria.

This ancient coaching inn has bags of character and has excellent comfortable accommodation. We booked a standard room which had a comfortable super king bed, seating area, ensuite shower room with walk in shower and toiletries provided. Specialist coffees and biscuits, bottled water, large fluffy towels. There is a lovely restaurant for evening meals and we had an excellent cooked breakfast.

The room was themed in dark colours which was attractive but the lighting could be improved for reading.
