Third time of staying which says a lot for the hotel. The grounds are lovely and large, there is ample parking and the rooms we've had so far have all been spacious. There is a handy bar and restaurant.

This time of staying we were upstairs in the lodge - which to be honest has got a most unsuitable staircase. It is narrow and steep and difficult to negotiate even with an airline type cabin bag. I think this should be pointed out on the website and at check-in and if the guests felt they couldn't deal with it then an alternative room or assistance be given. The stairs would be very difficult to negotiate for anyone with a large suitcase, elderly or even with small children. To say again, this comment only applies to the upstairs of the lodge, the hotel rooms are not affected.

The excellent service of the staff, they couldn’t do enough to make our stay fabulous. The hotel itself is clean, the beds comfortable and the bathrooms well equipped and extremely clean. The breakfasts are very good, especially the great range hot food, fresh pressed fruit and juices and fresh fruit was a really nice extra’s. We ate our evening meal on the terrace, and the service and food were excellent, extremely well prepared and very European/fusion, the wine and service was also excellent and exceeded expectations We found it a real oasis of tranquility .. left smiling

I was there for a wedding so wasnt really fussed about the room. It was comfy and had all of the amenities that was required. When i had the issue with the heat in my room on the night of the wedding they were extremely helpful and eventually moved me to another room. They dealt with the situation in a really good way.

The sink was blocked and when i tried to use the shower it flooded out. When I got back to my room on the night of the wedding the room was sooo hot. I couldn't turn the radiator off or open the window (I was on the bottom floor so no issues with safety). I called reception and they came to help but they were unable to turn the radiator off or open the window so they kindly moved me to another room.

The food was lovely, good portions of food and filling. Staff were courteous throughout. Cocktails well made. The rooms made my stay tbh. Deluxe all the way!! With a fab bathtub!! 😊 Recommend having a room IN the building or opposite, as the lodge, is a bit of a walk.

More to do!! Being in such a remote area, and all the space, this hotel would be enhanced with either a swimming pool or even just a spa/steam room - there’s enough space to have this. Didn't use the gym, as it was a restful break. Unless you want to walk an hr to go anywhere bring your/a car, cabs were pricey @ £9-10 to Town. Some magazines or local papers in the lounge would help. Snacks that can be bought in the day, in addition to the menu.

Staff helpful and friendly. Most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The lounge was beautiful and so comfortable. All furnishings were of a high quality. It was very peaceful and calm. The breakfast was delicious, very hot and arranged on the plate with care. Lovely gentleman served our tea and in the evening our drinks. I had a tasty bowl of tomato soup with croutons and artisan bread sprinkled with sunflower seeds. Our room was very warm but easy to turn off the radiator which fixed it for us. This was a perfect stay.

We had requested a ground floor room which was provided. However, the large windows appeared locked and we were not able to open them. I imagine it was to do with security.

Room was comfortable with good facilities and quality comfortable bed/linens Chose not to have breakfast as we only wanted a croissant and tea. The fixed price of £17.50 each for that was prohibitive. Room only downside was the shower over bath. In a room that size a walk in shower without a bath would be preferable to me The grounds were fabulous, the location fantastic and we’ll be back

As above the shower over bath Fixed price for breakfast- we can eat out at a local restaurant for lunch or dinner for less!

The buildings history, location and grounds were stunning.

Our bathroom looked tired, chipped paint on radiator, mastic was mouldy, grout was brown. One of the floorboards loose in the bedroom near the bathroom door. Simple things that could have been rectified easily let it down. You need a full time maintenance person! The property is incredible. Also the Bath was very slippery, no grip or handrail and I slipped and hurt my thigh getting out of the bath. Very dangerous for someone elderly.

Nice looking rooms. Beautiful grounds.

Unable to open windows, no aircon but radiators were on. I had to turn off the radiator because the room was stuffy and hot. I had to ask for a new kettle for the room because there was rust in the pouring spout. After checking several rooms, none of the kettles were safe. And for our two night stay it was not possible to replace it. We were offered free coffe from the bar and restaurant and had to carry it across the courtyard.. but when they were closed.. nothing. The member of staff said the kettle was safe to use, anf it was housekeepings problem!!, terrible attitude.

Absolutely everything!!! From the friendliness of the check in staff to the comfort and luxury of the room, it was all perfect. The rooms were very modern, comfy and warm. There were a few little touches that stood out in my mind. The coffee pod machine! I'm a gromp without a decent coffee in the morning. The little make up mirror on the desk. I'm a performer and it helped to have a decent mirror to have a go on my war paint for the day. And this is the FIRST hotel in the UK that provided a face flannel in the bathroom!!!! I know it may sound silly, but it's the little things that make a BIG difference. I also loved the quality of the body/hair gel and conditioner. My partner said it made his beard feel really soft and it didn't dry our skin out like other cheap brands that hotels use. We are looking for a wedding venue and this is top of our list in terms of location, views, comfort and cost. We booked through booking dot com and got an exceptional deal for a Friday night and they upgraded us for free!

Nothing I can't fault this hotel for anything.

The location and communal facilities were stunning, the dining is top notch and I cannot fault the staff! When we encountered issues with the room, Ian kindly moved us to a much nicer room and very graciously handled our feedback. The staff were very helpful and even ordered us taxis when required!

The room we arrived to was not as advertised, it was small, outdated and reeked of damp. The "representative photos" are clearly of a different standard room. As well as this it was not clean, layers of dust on surfaces, stains on the floor, mould in the bathroom and hair from the previous occupants in the bath/shower and even the bed!
