The best place for northern light hunting. Janet really helpful. She always tell us when norther light coming. Highly appreciate with the best service. And northern light really nice. So awesome I will come back for sure. Strongly recommended place.

Staying at the lodge was very cozy, and Janet had a wealth of information to share with us. She provided us with slippers to walk around the lodge, Fred's breakfast was delicious (and they accommodated us when we needed an earlier breakfast time). There were sleds for us to borrow, hot tea and coffee available throughout the day. The absolute best part of our stay was how diligent Janet was for our wake up calls to see the northern lights. Even though we stayed the 2nd week of April, we managed to see the Northern Lights 3 out of the 4 nights we stayed there thanks to Janet. Our room had a balcony so we could see some of the lights from our balcony, and there were other places around the lodge to view the lights as they moved from North to South. We truly appreciate her waking us up for the shows.

There is nothing for me to comment on about this. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Whenever we needed anything, Janet was always available.

The hosts were extremely kind and helpful. Communication prior to our arrival was fantastic. Breakfasts were home cooked and practically made to order! My bed was so comfy and I'm a bit of a tough customer. I really enjoyed talking with Fred, who is a wealth of information about the area and Alaska in general. I also really liked that it was out of town but pretty centrally located to anything I wanted to do including not too far from the AFB where I was working all week. I would definitely stay here again if I find myself in Fairbanks.

We travelled to see the northern lights and the Alaska Grizzly Lodge was a a perfect choice. It has a great and convenient location. And, a wonderful wide deck where you can watch the lights dance from several directions and duck inside when you need to warm up. Fred and Janet are great hosts and we benefitted from their expertise in aurora hunting as well as enjoyable company. We learned about local history and got to see interesting sites.

Great, out of the way property with amazing hosts! Delicious, fresh made breakfast with yummy offerings. Wonderful, knowledgeable hosts! Comfortable rooms. We stayed in a room that might not have been remodeled yet. But that was by choice as we felt it might be cooler. The other rooms we were offered were especially beautiful and well appointed. The whole house is an adventure of interesting things to look at and parlor activities to accommodate kids and adults alike.

Cyruss was there to greet us at around one-thirty AM with a smile and a welcome. A mature and kind young man who offered help with our luggage. As we began to settle in our room, he knocked and we came to the nearby porch with him to see the northern lights! Wow! It turned out to be the only time we saw them although we looked for the aurora borealis during our entire 10 days in Alaska, it was always snowing. Thank you, Cyruss, for pointing it out to us! The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful; who doesn't love quiche? Sweet puppies and comfy seating areas...and if you are quick in the morning, you can sit by the fireplace!

Our bed was small for us, but there was also a twin bed in the room so we split up to sleep. I didn't get to talk with the owners as much as I would have liked, but they were busy and I was needing naps due to the four hour time difference and very late flight in.

This is one of the best places I ever stayed, very simple and comfortable. You feel that you are in a cozy cabin in the woods and not in a ctrl C ctrl V hotel. Janet is amazing and do everything she can so you can see the Aurora Borealis. The breakfast and the coffee is great and they serve after 9am so you can sleep a little more, as you usually sleep late to see the Aurora. I can’t wait to go back to Alaska and to this property.

The communication from booking was a little tricky at the beginning, but once I reach out to them, they did everything to accommodate our needs.

We loved the location being away from the town and surrounded by woods. We had two moose encounters on the property which we enjoyed viewing them from our balcony while sipping on wonderful coffee. The owner was a warm and welcoming gentleman who makes a wonderful breakfast! He also is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to seeing the area and all Alaska has to offer. We truly enjoyed this experience.

Our fabulous hosts Janet and Fred have a beautiful and comfortable lodge which is the perfect place to view Auroras and just relax and star-gaze… they’re very helpful in providing information for local restaurants and museums as well as providing lots of Aurora knowledge…Janet gives an Aurora wake-up call and gives photo tips… the resident pups, Riley and Tosh are lovable and handy for hugs…every morning our host Fred made an exceptional and hearty breakfast with a lot of variety… he even had a grab-n-go breakfast for us as we had to leave very early for flight going home

The lodge was PERFECTION! Not a single complaint!

It is great location to see the the Aurora Borealis and conveniently located near Fairbanks. We had the luxury sleeping in the warm bed without worrying about missing the Aurora Borealis , as we knew that Janet would knock on our door when the Aurora activity started. We had access to a balcony right outside our room, to see the aurora, and go back in to warm up easily. Janet also taught us how to adjust the camera mode to catch good photos of the aurora. Both Janet and Fred are knowledgeable and dedicated owners.

The shower in our room had fiberglass floor, with no grab bars. One needs to be very careful getting our of the shower. I would suggest that a grab bar be added.
