Great value no frills rooms not a 5 star style hotel if that's what you want. Super price of being near the airport. Met all expectations for a room near the airport to catch an early flight out of Fairbanks. Free shuttle very important! After a 9 day rafting and camping trip Plenty of hot water a clean and comfortable bed and transportation home was all I wanted. Super helpful staff.

No elevator to the second floor. Walk up only. Had to carry my 100lbs. of gear up to the room.

We stayed here for one night in March after a late flight into FAI. From other reviews, we knew not to expect much; that the hotel was under new ownership and improvements were underway. Much to our surprise and delight, in addition to all of the above being true, this simple little inn was so much more than we expected. James met us at the airport promptly and checked us in quickly. Complimentary drinks and abundant, healthy, snacks are provided in the lobby 24 hours/day and the free breakfast offered a variety of fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt and oatmeal. No nickel-and-diming here. Our double queen room on the second floor in the back was spotlessly clean, well-appointed with a small refrigerator and microwave, fluffy towels, new linens, super-fast WIFI, flat-screen tv with 1000+ channels and, what impressed us most, the warm and hospitable welcome from the new owners Jim and Mary. Jim was on hand to chat with and make sure guests were happy. It seems good news is traveling fast - the Golden North Inn is a great value - they were fully booked in the middle of winter. Sure, this place is showing it’s age, but new life is being breathed into it. The warm hospitality and hard work of the new owners more than fills in the gaps. We feel like we have new friends in Fairbanks and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. Thank you Jim, Mary and your whole team. We wish you the best of luck in this new venture!

Room was basic but provided everything I needed. It was clean and most importantly warm which was great for when I got back from -20 degree hikes. Location was great as it was easy to drive to anywhere from the airport to downtown. The staff was very friendly too. Overall I thought it was a great value for the price

No major downsides. Just don't expect anything fancy. The website says it has breakfast and while some basic food is provided in the morning, I found it much more helpful to grab it as snacks for later in the day and go to a local place for actual breakfast.

I love this place! low stress great location amazing owners and mostly great staff. The one staff member at the front desk was really really rude to me and almost ruined my entire experience i wish i remembered her name but she overcharged me for my room and refused to listen to me when i showed her. It was wildly frustrating to be belittled and talked down to by someone who you know if actually WRONG especially when a couple hundred dollars hang in the balance. HOWEVER. Since once the owner got involved he figured out everything and fixed it for me and was very apologetic. He even got flowers for my room to make up for the mix up it was very nice. Great experience. I only mention the negative so that maybe the employee realizes how much her behavior can affect the guests staying and she tries harder to be kinder to future guests. I also wanted to point out how amazing the owner was and how he tried very hard to find a solution and make my experience positive!!

Generous transportation service: pickup from the airport, drop-off at the train depot, and even a ride to a flight excursion. Friendly staff. Grab and go breakfast available for early departure. Prompt replies to questions through the Booking.com app.

The Inn lists "daily housekeeping ". However, the second day, my room was not serviced (although the money I had left in the envelope for the housekeeper was gone).

They didn’t have a full on breakfast with eggs and sausage, etc but maybe that’s why it was $100 per night. They did have bagels, fruit, coffee, tea, granola bars, etc.

Staff is amazing... everyone is just helpful and nice! We got to meet the owner too and it was a really great chance to learn more abt Fairbanks. We appreciate the simple breakfast and snacks available and the good, hot coffee which is always available. Heat in the room is good and it kept us nice and warm when the temp would drop.

I guess it would be a great addition to have a bidet in the toilet.

Called about availability of a room for my group, was told they had nothing available.. Went online and there were many rooms available. After checking in and being in the office, it seems that "no rooms available" means that they don't have any rooms ready at THAT moment. A little more clear communication would be wonderful on that.

They provide a great shuttle service to and from the airport. The take-away breakfast food is very good. Convenient location if you need to be by the airport. Also airconditioning was a plus as it was very warm while we were in Fairbanks.

convenient location to airport and visiting location. Short walk to Fred Meyer supermarket which had a Starbucks which made a decent Latte and hot chocolate drink. The room had a fridge and microwave and ensuite and the simple breakfast suited us fine
