Very good restaurant and the service was excellent. Had delicious breakfast and brunches. Charming lobby and lift and old photos lining the corridors. hotel staff very nice. Slightly blocked but nonetheless reasonable view of the ocean and sunset. Well located for shopping and beach. wonderful walk down to the sea front teeming with birds and seals and sea lions. Good sized bedroom.

inner garden/pool area was a bit disappointing. Photos don’t reveal that there are high buildings between the hotel and the beach. Bathroom not entirely cleaned.

Excellent location in very historic hotel. Walk to the beach and see tide pools, sea lions, and breathtaking sunsets. Great view of the ocean and pool from the suite we booked on the fifth floor. King bed and sleeper sofa were both comfortable. Lobby is charming and pool area is relaxing - just big enough to never feel too crowded. Most outstanding is the service - five stars - from valet to front desk to housekeeping. Nine ten restaurant is maybe the best restaurant in La Jolla. We enjoyed it twice - once for breakfast and once for dinner. Don't hesitate to book this hotel with kids - they have beach toys, boogie boards, and umbrellas available at no extra cost - and La Jolla's famous children's pool is only blocks away for shallow ocean time (when the seals aren't there). Best of all, the Grande Colonial accomodated moving our reservations when we had to postpone the trip a month due to Covid. Not sure you can find a better hotel or more attentive staff in La Jolla. This hotel gets everything right without ever looking like its anything out of the ordinary. Ten of ten would recommend booking again.

Lobby, front desk,, and hallways are not air conditioned. Probably not an issue 90% of the time, but we stayed during a heat wave. Room was plenty cool at least.

We loved dining at the 910! Our first room had a bed in it that needs to be replaced, #136. We moved the next day to room #133 thanks to the excellent help from Cassandra. Thank you! The fireplace & coffee pot were not working in this room. As you leave the bathroom to go into the kitchenette there is a sharp object that catches on a foot as you leave the bathroom. It is very sharp & needs to be addressed. Overall we had a lovely stay. Your staff is amazing! Thank you so much!!!!

The Hotel was iconic and grand just as its namesake. Nice room, comfortable bed. Isabel helped us get a room next to our kids room which was so important. The valet guys were super friendly and always courteous.

There was a bad odor coming from the shower area, like a body odor smell which was unpleasant. House keeping doesn’t come clean the room unless you ask for it.

This hotel is located in a beautiful part of La Jolla, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is in the heart of town, just a short walk lfrom the beachfront and high trails above the ocean. Our room was spacious and comfortable and we could watch the ocean from our window! It was convenient to many shops and restaurants. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The restaurant located in the hotel served wonderful food.

I wouldn't be able to name one thing that needs to be done to improve this hotel, or help us enjoy our stay any more than we did! People who have trouble walking could find some difficulty on the steep hill down from the hotel to the beachfront, but it posed no problems for us.

We loved this refurbished historic hotel, its lovely staff, luxury amenities, incredible restaurant, and darling little pool. I was visiting with my 5 yr old daughter and we had an absolute blast walking to the beach, playing in the pool, and exploring La Jolla from the hotel's central location. The front desk crew did a great job directing us and loaning out beach gear (chairs, towels, sand toys etc) and making us feel very welcome. We'd love to come back!

Staff was amazing! Very helpful with any requests & answered our questions. Isabella was the definition of Top Customer Service! The cleaning crew were great as well! Would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Superior central location near ocean & restaurants.

The Grande Colonial La Jolla is a hotel from a past era, and in a good way. There's plenty of comfort and convenience, but the building and decor feel like last-century coastal California... and I mean that as high praise. I notice from the hotel's photos that there are rooms with ocean views, but I didn't know that when I booked and I was very pleased with our room and its view on main street La Jolla. A great stay, if too short.

Accommodations for people with special dietary needs were not available. We had to bring our own egg, nut, and gluten free foods.

I loved this hotel! The staff here truly stand out: every encounter we had with the valet/bell, front desk, housekeeping, and the restaurant was positive. We had a couple of packages delivered to the hotel and the front desk notified us immediately when each arrived. The valet/bell was friendly, quick, and very helpful. Housekeeping is scheduled at your convenience through text. We were able to have dinner at Nine-Ten, the hotel's Michelin starred restaurant. The food and service were great, but what really stood out was the way we were treated when I stopped by to ask if we could be seated without a reservation. The hostess was kind and friendly and asked what time we'd like to come in and then made it work. The bed, linens, pillows, and shower are all great. The pool and lounge area are large, peaceful, and inviting. The location of the hotel is convenient. RIght out the door are many shops and restaurants and the beach/ocean/ walking trail are two blocks. The hotel's history is really interesting too!
