Loved the location, also the staff was great! We checked in at about 9 pm and the front desk women was extremely nice and inviting. She checked us in fast and walked us to our apartment showed us everything. The complementary breakfast was good and the kids loved it. The complementary drinks were also very helpful. Saved us from having to keep the fridge stocked or running to a local grocery store and let us enjoy our time on the beach and in the area more.

Only thing I would have to say it would be nice to change would be find a way to keep the seagulls away from the breakfast outdoor sitting area if you lean back in your chair or turned away for a half a second, the seagulls will jump on the table and grab your food right away. I understand this is the natural area for Birds, but there was someway to help deter that would be nice

The location by the beach, seals, park, oceans view and shopping is perfect! It's a very short walk to shops, food and to visit the seals. The complimentary breakfast is an actual breakfast and truly adds to the value. Additionally, they provide complimentary water and cola any time of day or night along with cookies through the day...have to grab the cookies quickly though. The way the rooms are situated gives you the feeling of privacy because most are stacked on top of each other with private entrances rather than a hotel side-by-side arrangement. This style also allows for windows all around.

I can appreciate the attempt to modernize the bathroom, but the design of the shower is terrible with no real barrier to keep water from splashing outside the shower and the water pressure is almost non-existent! Additionally, the carpet is old, and I wonder how frequently it is deep cleaned. There is no smell, and it does feel clean, but carpet just traps everything, so it makes you wonder.

This is the most beautiful beautiful hotel if I ever stayed in! Attention to detail, the friendly staff, my heart was so happy just walking into my room! I could see the ocean from the couch, never imagined having a fireplace inside my room!! My daughter and I felt like princesses!!! The only downside is the shower flooded the bathroom, and it always felt slightly damp in the room. A little bit of a bummer to pay separately for parking but this seems pretty standard in a lot of hotels. And the parking was super super convenient to my room. I absolutely would love to stay here again and again, didn’t want to leave.!!

Great location, close to town and beach. Good price being less that $200/night for this location. Safe location and it had parking. I was traveling alone so didnt really need a lot of space, this was a studio and it was big enough. Comfortable bed and small bath. Had a fridge and a coffee maker, all that I needed. Not a lot of extras but I didnt need them.

Guys working outside my window at 7 am, both days.

We stayed in the superior family suite. It had all the comforts of home. We had three adults and two children. The suite worked well for us. Breakfast is included and had the foods of a Continental breakfast, as well as eggs, potatoes, waffles, and more. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was walking distance from shops and restaurants. It was across the street from the ocean, ands easy to cross that street.

We had to leave early and missed breakfast the second day. It opened at 7:30. It seems a better tie would be 6:00 to 6:30.

The room was nice, clean, spacious and comfortable. We had an ocean view. It's a small boutique hotel, so no restaurant or fitness room or anything like that, but they offer complimentary bottled water and fresh baked cookies each day. Great location if you want to be near the Cove. Quick access to the seals, walking paths, shopping, other hotels and restaurants. We were in town for a birthday celebration and brunch at The Valencia with friends and stayed overnight. It was a 2 minute walk...perfect location for everyone to conveniently meet up.

Price, and it would have been nice to have complimentary parking, but everything is expensive in that area. It's La Jolla.

House cleaning wasn’t as thorough

The location was great, across the street from the ocean and a block from food and shopping. There were wonderful spaces for hanging out, besides the balcony on our place. They just built a little outside bar in the courtyard area. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Beds comfortable, rooms clean, ours had a kitchen which was well stocked with plates, cutlery, mugs, glasses, pans, etc. and the sink had filtered water. We really appreciated the filtered water!

The location is absolutely perfect and I could see the ocean from my room. The bed was very comfortable. I was surprised to have a full apartment with living room and kitchen. It was chilly the week I was in San Diego and it was great to have the gas fire place!

The finishings are a little dated and the shower curtain didn't go to the floor so water got all over.

Great location, spacious ocean view room with adequate kitchenette. Complimentary sodas & water in lobby. Comfortable bed. Great patio, although room snd patio a bit exposed if you’re on the ground floor with car and foot traffic. Ask for a room on the second floor if they have it.

Breakfast buffet was so, so. Adequate but nothing to get exited about. Most boutique hotels do better here. The staff were the big let down. No friendly smiles or greetings, the way you typically expect.
