It was a good base for a day out in Kings Canyon and Sequoia NP, about 1hr drive to the park which is worth it compared to paying the prices in 3 rivers. The staff were friendly and gave great restaurant recommendations! The bed was comfortable and the shower pressure was excellent. The room was clean, apart from a minor issue in the bathroom.

Our bathroom had a few ants appearing from under the bath but the weren’t there the next day. If you wanted the door/window open it was straight onto the communal outdoor area with smokers, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving it open in the night and we got smells in the room!

Dennis (day-time front desk clerk) was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He ensured we got the room we reserved and paid for. He had good ideas for restaurants and places to visit. Also, the courtyard gardens are gorgeous and worth a slow walk through. Also, Amanda gave us a tour of the cottages in the center. The place is old (1963) but retains much charm. Beds/pillows were very comfortable. Old pine furniture ("Thomasville" brand) was charming. Having a microwave and mini-fridge is helpful on a road trip. Nice flashback to the 20th century. New ownership. I'm intrigued by potential upgrades.

Reservation said "restaurant on site." No restaurant -- closed for awhile. Night clerk (Michelle) was not friendly or helpful. Had to drive on a highway to get food. Big pain, when arriving at 7pm in the dark and hungry for dinner. Two nightstand lamps in the room -- no overhead lighting -- impossible to read at night. Not upgraded, re lighting or places to charge devices. No Decaf coffee for the little pot. Also, no bar in the shower for stability, so we didn't use it. Ice machine was a very long walk from our room.

Gardens, gardens, gardens! Immaculate gardens surrounding the rooms created a beautiful and tranquil setting even with a busy road nearby. It was too cold when we were there to use the pool, but it was crystal clear and shimmering. The person at the front desk was very friendly and very well informed, it was lovely to have a chat with him.

We have no complaints.

We had a great stay here. Comfy beds, nice landscaping with lawn & trees. Our kid enjoyed the pool a lot during the hot days. Great proxitity to the downtown.

Even though not many rooms were occupied, we got a room upstairs (even thought we indicated that we were traveling with a kid and stairs are not the best) and very close to the parking, which was noisier. As a family, we would have preferred a room at the ground level for easy access to the garden. Also, the outdoor bench next to our room was broken and shaky, so not usable.

I really enjoyed the Lamp Lighter. Loved the garden, clean rooms and the pool is heated. I was pleasantly surprised with the breakfast at the restaurant. It was really, really good. If you want to go to the Sequoia National park, it’s pretty good place to base yourself and it’s also close to many restaurants and downtown. The Lamp Lighter is a 1960s vintage hotel with lots of charm.

The only complaint I have which was not the hotel’s fault but there was some unruly guests that were next to our room and they were super loud, swearing to each other and banging on the door several times at 11pm at night. I have two kids that were sleeping and this was really disruptive to our sleep. I did call the front desk but not sure anything was done to remedy the situation since they continued to be loud for several hours later.

LLI is centrally located, along the road to Sequoia Park. It’s a favorite, with beautiful gardens in center, a lovely pool, and a new restaurant about to open. I stay here whenever I’m in town.

There’s no breakfast, although that might change when the attached restaurant opens, $ included or not.

In a really hot day we didn't feel much heat problem. Air conditioning in the room was not adjustable other than on and off, but it was definitely strong enough to withstand 90-100 outside temp. Pool was good sized and almost empty when we used. The location was good, right off the freeway and close to restaurant/stores. It was quiet as not many rooms were used. Overall, almost no inconveniences and that is very good to me.

There was some odor outside. It may be just at the time, but there may be a trash facility in the neighborhood. It was not felt in the room at all.

Still had rooms for smokers . Very quiet. Plenty of parking. Nonr of the usual suspects late at night. Within a hundred feet of Carl's Jr, macdonalds an a old style small restaurant. One block from the freeway. Family owned. Exceptionally nice people. And a fair price. A working man's motel.

Im a cranky old man. Traveling on my harley. Doesn't take much to irritate me. I was very comfortable at this establishment. I will stay here again.

The staff was exceptional. We kept running into problems navigating construction on the roads, bad directions and mismarked street detours in our first two days of our trip that cost us additional money we had not expected, not to mention a lot lost sleep. When we arrived at Lamp Liter Jose and Dennis smoothed the way and got us into our comfortable room quickly so we could catch up on some sleep. We would definitely stay at Lamp Liter again.

Nothing. Everything was nice.

Staff seemed friendly and helpful. The hotel had a 80's/90's feel to it (which made it feel unique) yet it didn't seem run down. The garden looked really nice and was a pleasure to look at and smell (flowers gave off a nice perfume).

Main issue was that there was a few cosmetic issues with the room. Like a few chips in the shower and counter for the sink was pretty roughed up. The bed also felt like it needed to be replaced (felt like I was sleeping at an angle). The air conditioner wasn't very powerful either. On High, it kept the room barely comfortable on a warmer day. Also, while it wasn't an issue for me, the shower head was a bit low. I'm 5' 7" and it was forehead level for me, so taller people might not like it.
