Finally a place with local character. The big room had all it needed for comfort and was furnished with country pine furniture including the bathroom counter with its copper sink. Wildlife décor including the bed spreads. In a lovely location overlooking mountains and a lake and very close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park I would have liked to stay longer. The entrance has a clerestory with a taxidermic selection of local wildlife. The historic nearby village provides lovely shopping and eating. For the cognoscenti: Bob Scott’s store has a marvelous selection of authentic Navajo and other jewelry/weavings, and Pueblo pottery. The bakery/ coffee store is a winner. The lake offers water sports and fishing. Bring warm clothes though as it got chilly at night in June. The hotel has a lovely outdoor terrace attached to the restaurant.
The restaurant attached to the hotel (but under different ownership) was terribly understaffed. We were told there was only one server, also responsible for the bar, but were not aware there was only one staff person in the kitchen. Otherwise we would have gone elsewhere. After a 45 minute wait we had food slightly resembling the menu offer. Also, the hotel did not have breakfast included.

Decor was great, Outdoor eatery patio was very nice with the burner tables. The room was very clean except for the bathtub. Hotel needs to invest in a little Soft Scrub cleanser and it is a quick and easy clean on the tub surface. Loved the balcony.
The smell when walking in was overpowering and didn't go away with the sliding door open. Smelled of either cleaning chemicals or Ben Gay. It was very overpowering and made stay very unpleasant. Bath tub needs a cleaning with soft scrub.

The live music on the back deck was a pleasant surprise. We loved watching the moon rise, humming along, and interacting with fellow travelers. Looking back, we will remember this from our trip to Grand Lake.
Our room was spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom was in need of renovation. The lobby area and hallways could also use updating. Seating in the lobby area would be great, instead of the vending machines by the entrance.

All the interior designs made from the wood. Giving out the chilling old school vibe
The service wasn't really good. We have had to wait more than 30 mins to get inside the room bc the key they gave us didn't work and we had to make many phone calls for that. However I still love the vibe that room for me until I forgot my AirPod there and was calling them to ask if they have seen it but they don't even check or anything and answer me right away that they don't see it and hang up the phone without saying anything!

Great views of mountains and Shadow Mt. Lake from room & balcony; spacious; good mt. furniture and amenities; quiet room; friendly staff; convenient location
Tripping hazards outside inner bathroom--floor is buckled significantly in 2 places, especially dangerous at night, even with flashlight. Also the rug that was put over the floor buckles bunched up & slipped easily and was also a tripping hazard--it had to be removed when we weren't running water in the sink--use only a rubber-backed mat. Expensive. Dissappointed downstairs no long has the nice restaurant (run separately) but does have Continental breakfast for purchase and bar pub after 4 with lake view. Did enjoy the live music there Thur. night. Pizza was too spicy.

I did not like that my room was not ready when I arrived at 3:05. I was told it would be ready at 4. They did allow me to go ahead and check in and gave me the key. I don't know when they had it ready because I went into the park for a while. The room was very nice. For those of us not familiar with the type of coffee maker in the room, it would have been nice to have instructions. The same goes for the fire place. I was not there very long. I left at 6:30 a.m., so I did not explore the hotel or area.
See above. Plus, I'm not a fan of taxidermy and did not like that part of the decor.

The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. I liked the table and bench to sit at and, while we didn't need to use it, the fireplace would be great on a cold snowy day. We especially appreciated that the front desk staff was able to accommodate an early check in for us so we could make it to a wedding on time without needing to drive 2 hours in formal wear.
A towel hook for the bathroom hand towel would have been nice. We went to the Cafe downstairs for breakfast and the service was slow and the food was cold. I also never got the drip coffee I ordered and had to request it on my way out. My understanding is that the cafe is run by a third party, and not the hotel. I'd recommend skipping it and going into town for breakfast.

I really liked the fact that it was well situated close to Rocky Mountain National Park. The breakfast downstairs was amazing and the view was very nice. Also, the room was very clean.
I didn't like that I had a non-smoking room right above the smoking area from the tavern area below. Also, the music from the band seemed to be loud from the room I was in.

I was not sure what our arrival time would be. I was visiting two elderly friends with dementia (they are twins) that live in CO Springs, and I am from AZ. I suggested we visit the Grand Lake area as none of us had visited area before. I had us arriving about 4 not sure when I made the reservation of that time, however we arrived at 2 which I know can be challenging for cleaning crew etc. I very much appreciated management allowed us to check in early which is something they normally would not do. It was a very comfortable, clean room, loved the western decor. I hope to return with my daughter and son-in-law in the fall. I would definitely recommend this property.
We did not have a view of the lake as I thought we would. I thought property was on the lake however it is not. After arriving I realized you could see from upper floors. We were on first floor which I requested. My Fault!

Once the checkin process was completed, I had a pleasant stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and attractive, with wooden floors and slab benches.
There were staff members who ignored me while I waited at the front desk to check in. They should have said something, like ‘she’ll be with you soon’, or ‘I’ll go get someone who can help you,’ anything other than just ignoring the guest. I rang the bell 3 times while they were there, but they hadn’t been trained to say or do anything. The free wifi was ok for browsing social media, but you need to purchase the $10 premium wifi if you want to download book, music, or podcasts or upload photos to Facebook or instagram. Even with the premium wifi, service was only so so.
