PIER BLUE INN Old Saybrook - Essex

Location was pleasant and quite. There is a nice breakfast lunch restaurant across the street. Grounds were good for walking my dogs. The evening clerk was very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are dated and carpet is old. We booked a disability access room that was poorly set up for mobility impaired people. There is a regular bathtub, not a walk in shower so many disabled people would not be able to use it and the handrailings are poorly placed. No grab bar for getting in and out of the tub or on and off the toilet. No bath chair though they might have been able to provide one if we had asked. Refrigerator needed defrosting and was barely cool. In all fairness, these short comings are common in motels in this price range.

I booked 20 minutes before I arrived on a Sunday night when I was too tired to drive and got a fairly reasonable rate for summer. Rick at the front desk was very personable and even offered me a free bottle of water and told me if I needed to stay past 11 AM it wouldn't be a problem. Room was nice, though I think the beds were twins, rather than queen size. Very nice wooden table and bench in the room which made it feel more homey. The mattresses are enclosed in plastic, with bedding on top, to help deter bedbugs and other creepy crawlies. I was concerned that the plastic under the sheets might be uncomfortable, but that wasn't the case.

The fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy and the bathroom was a little dark/dingy, but was still clean.

The single senior lady just spent 7 nights here. What a wonderful time. Room was very clean and no funny smells. Lots of HOT water and lots of towels. Bed was very comfortable, room was quiet and I had excellent sleep time. It was nice that it had a fridge, microwave and coffee. Check in staff was very pleasant and answered all my questions and helped me when I locked my key card in my now locked room and gave me a replacement with a smile as we were both laughing. A special lady!! Any other staff I met was all friendly and polite. When I am in this area again this my 1st place to stay. Close to everything I wanted to do, and one of my better vacations. This place is a winner. I will be back.

This is a nice 2 star motel/hotel. The rooms are definitely old and dated but clean and ok. The beds are very comfortable.

Upon checking in a polite older man waited on me. During check-in he took a call which took about 4 or 5 minutes of my time. Part of his check in protocol was to make a photo copy of my ID and back of my credit card. Doing this with my credit card would be a serious risk as I would be giving him my card data plus security code. He tried to defend this protocol saying they required this of everybody checking in. I demanded that he destroy the copy of my credit card. He did so.

it was very quiet and comfortable; the coffee provided was real quality and the rooms had real cups and glasses, not plastic throwaways like most places have these days. the toiletries were lovely too. The staff was super friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable with just the right pillows, there’s a great breakfast place right across the road and it’s a short walk to a very nice beach.

The only thing I didn’t like as much was that it’s a long walk to Main Street, but to be fair it does cater more for drivers and there are several interesting shops and eateries just a short walking distance in either direction.

The staff was very friendly and polite and the woman and man at the front desk were a joy and pleasure to talk to warm welcome and gave me a free bottle of water which was very nice of them. Room was very clean at worked well and was nice and quite and very relaxing. It’s in a very convenient location not far from food or the beach or any shopping you would like to do. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back again.

The facility appearance on the outside is spectacular, clean they have a little well a good size area for the guess to cook on a grill, they kept the grill clean they kept the whole area where the picnic tables were clean garbage cans at your disposal, they are pet friendly and they have little stationaries to get plastic bags if you need them. If your dog likes to run they have a big field or at the guest want to take a walk the field is really big you'd be a nice good morning walk. The area where there was some nice Stone tables with four chairs in the morning it was nice going outside and having a coffee and juice. They have a beautiful sunset.

We have stayed at the facility several times, they have beautiful hard Pergo flooring newer on and some really cool Driftwood tables in the rooms good pressure for shower taking. I stayed there a few times last year into the beginning of 2022 and maybe they were having a tough time finding cleaning services. I have stayed there probably in the last 4 months 1 to 2 days a week in the rooms are getting much better they have a good cleaning crew now so that being said they are correcting the issue. They're doing a very good job on cleaning the rooms now that they have the correct staff

The largest rooms around, with an interesting desk / table combination that holds the TV as well. Lots of hot water and comfortable beds. Right on the Boston Post Road but not as noisy as one might think with the room door closed. A/C and heat worked really well for us. Good location for getting around the Old Saybrook location. No breakfast served (we didn't expect any) but a terrific place for breakfast right across the street and several other restaurants within walking distance. Nice people on the job.

The Wi-Fi was a big problem. You might have better luck closer to the check-in desk but either way it's not a priority for the hotel.

We had somewhere to be in Old Saybrook and family in Westbrook, so it was a convenient place to stay.

When we got there, we had no pillows and the bathroom floor was extremely wet. The room had just been cleaned, but I feel we shouldn’t by been put in that room because it wasn’t ready and we still had to get ready for our function. Housekeeping did come in but there was a language barrier and they didn’t understand what we needed.

Stayed with my best friend for am event about 30 minutes away. All of the staff that we met was amazing! Super nice and welcoming and gave us good recommendations of other things in the area. Location was great, tons of food options along the main road. Although on a main road it was still very quiet inside the room. Inside of the room was very clean, great space and it was cozy. Beds were comfy ! Nothing was dirty. Would absolutely recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again for future trips to CT!
