The room was beautiful, comfortable and felt quite luxurious. Our room in the Comstock House had a deck off the back with chairs. It was so nice to have housekeeping daily to change towels and tidy up. So many places aren’t providing or can’t provide that service these days. There is a fine restaurant at the inn and breakfast is included . the location was convenient to Essex and other nearby historic towns. we were five minutes away from the historic Ivoryton Playhouse where we enjoyed a great summer production of Ring of Fire.

it would be great if coffee were available earlier than 8:00 AM.

The Inn was beautiful, and the room was spacious and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant for dinner, and it was delicious. Thomas was our server, and it was a pleasure to meet him and his recommendations on both the food and what to see during our visit were spot on. Breakfast was also very nice and over all we felt refreshed and relaxed while we stayed at the inn.

The room air conditioner at one point at night made some whing noises, but adjusting the thermostat alleviated the issue. We did inform the staff of the issue.

Rooms were quite large. The grounds are pleasant. The dining room is very nice and the bar area is also very nice.

The road on the property is full of deep ruts. It looked like there was some construction vehicles on the property p aww

Location was great, near everything we wanted to see and do. Breakfast was ok, would like to see more variations with breakfast. Like eggs with other add ons. Mueslix was good but very small serving.

The carpet in the room was stained and could use a good cleaning or update.

The Oak Room staff was terrific, and the Chef produced a wonderful meal for both of us.

There was a small earing on the rug which would have been swept up by any vacuum, so, was the room vacuumed before our stay? The wall AC/Heater was quite noisy. Finally, the hot water heater had to be quite distant from the bathroom, hot water took a long time to reach the faucet and shower.

We loved the hotel and would stay there again. My only complaint is that the carpet in our room was stained in many places and really needed to be replaced. The restaurant was fantastic and we loved our included "to order" breakfast. Our room was in one of the back carriage houses so it was away from the road and very quiet. We also enjoyed our little deck outside.

The hotel is a tiny bit run down but after Covid, I can understand that they may not have the resources to spruce up everything right now.

What’s NOT to like? It’s cozy, the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are old, but very clean and very comfortable, with plenty of room to spread out. We stayed in a room in one of the two buildings not attached to the main house and it was just lovey. The location you can’t beat, with easy access to everything the CT shore has to offer, and we consider ourselves seasoned travelers to the shore. But we thought the best thing about our stay was the food, OMG, it was fabulous! Jennifer took wonderful care of us as we sat at the bar for dinner, drinks you couldn’t beat and the salad and entrees were to die for. Breakfast was included the next morning and that was outstanding as well, especially the potatoes Rosti, oh my! We will be back next year for sure, it’s now our favorite!

The bar, bar tender, restaurant and server - all outstanding. Loved the room, though there was no shelf or place to set shampoo and soap. There might have been one and it was broken and not replaced, but a very minor issue. We had dinner and it was outstanding. Did ‘t stay for breakfast so next time we will.

The place is lovely and the staff is the best. They all gave me great service. I was there to celebrate what would have been me 60th wedding anniversary; a lovely peaceful setting. My husband would have loved it there also. I know he was watching me from Heaven

Antique decor all over main house, well spaced tables in eating areas, the grounds have beautiful flowers & the fountain is very pretty. The food served is very good & presentation was very creative.

The windows can use a good cleaning & exterior can use a power washing.
