I specifically chose it for the balcony, sunset views, and economics, and it was spot on! If you are looking for something fancy or glamorous, try the other Royal Lahaina properties because the resort itself is fabulous and we only hung around KOI. We had two very close awesome pools with beach bars serving food and toddies, easy beach access, next door to Royal Lahaina Luau (a must for folks with kids), and easy pickup for Road to Hana tours. Great bar staff once we asserted our existence; after sitting at the bar for 10 mins with no recognition, had to say hi, can we get a drink? After that we were best friends til we left! Staff remembered what our go to drink was and accommodated us in every way. The OMG burger IS OMG and we split it twice!

Granted we were dazed by a challenging and long travel day (just from the Big Island to Maui - different story), however, checking in at Royal Lahaina Resort was frenetic and disconcerting as we had several misdirections by staff; points where one staff member would tell us one thing and their direction would be invalidated by the next staff member; happened four times before we got to our room. Later, we would discover checking out experience was no better; they seem to be overwhelmed, understaffed, and mechanical. Breakfast buffet is okay. Suggest you order breakfast if you have time; we didn’t.

For the price we paid (in comparison to most surrounding accommodations), KOI was an absolute bargain! We were not expecting that we would be able to take advantage some of the amenities of the Royal Lahaina resort, but I was definitely a happy camper as I enjoyed a lovely yoga class on the beach during our stay. The beach itself, which was a very quick walk from our room, was absolutely heavenly. There was also a poolside bar, which we would have taken full advantage of if I wasn't 6 months pregnant during our trip! The ice cream shop there made up for though, with it's yummy Ube ice cream.

Facilities are clearly older and less well-maintained than the resort buildings'. The ice machine on our floor was rusted and dirty so I avoided it. However, we barely spent time in our room, as I assume most folks vacationing in Maui would do, so it wasn't much of a problem.

Our stay at KOI really blew our minds!! We are not so into the sterile modern high rise resorts, so staying in the original 60's building really provided all the charm and romance we were hoping for during our stay in Maui. The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and the balcony was private but with a view to die for. Just steps out to the ocean, and with the added bonus of all the high level amenties of the larger resort next door. The tourist Luau runs from around 5pm-9pm right next door, which I imagine would not float everyones boat, but we absolutely loved it.

Only gripe is that the bathroom could undergo a bit of a deep clean (Dusty vents and corners) but no major complaints here!

Beach was right there and very beautiful sandy beach. These factors make you swim in the AM and PM. Also they give you a towel for the beach.

I wish the room could be cleaned a little bit better. I saw hair here and there in the bathroom. A water mark behind the faucet of the bathroom sink. My eyes tended to focus on that while I was brushing my teeth. Also, the seat cover of the room chair got stains: made me a little hesitant to sit on there.

The location is amazing, right in front of a gorgeous beach, one of the best in Maui access to Royal Lahaina facilities - 2 pools, sunscreen, so beautiful. balcony was lovely shower was good. wifi was good staff was friendly

-sooooo expensive on property, on top of hotel prices. we had a $72 breakfast for the 2 of us. we ordered eggs and OJ. i suggest driving to alternatives, although everything's overpriced. -room is dated and badly in need of a makeover sometime soon -Beach is sooo beautiful, but it's so windy that the sand blows in your eyes. we couldn't hang out at the beach, so strange. hotel is right next to the Luau - we weren't in the room during that time so we don't know if it's loud/disruptive.

We were at this resort during the Maui Wildfire and the staff was absolutely amazing with the guests. They handled everything and everyone as best as they could with the little information and power/electricity they had. The main hotel ran on a backup generator and they were able to still provide food to guests and power in the lobby to charge your phones. I would highly recommend to anyone to stay here.

How everything was around us like the walking trail the beach.

I didn't care for the bed it was hard. Same as a couple roaches in the room too.

I wasn't impressed at first, but after the first day, we came to love the room. We had a balcony that we could see the ocean from. It was quiet and peaceful outside. The room was clean and we were very comfortable there. We liked the location and the fact that we could ride the trolley several places. The ice cream shop was a great place to get a sandwich or muffins for breakfast.

the room was a little dated, but still ok. Checking in at LaHanaia,which is a beautiful , upscale resort, then they take you by golf cart over to Ocean Inn, which is dated & looks to be an older "resort", was a little of a let-down. We got in around 9:00 p.m. & had not had anything to eat. The restaurant on site closes at 9:00 p.m., but they did let us get a sprite each.....no food,

The hotel website says nothing about parking fee, which I didn’t expect.
