In a beautiful place, in front of the amazing Dragon mountain. Extremely cute place with tradition, the staff is very sweet and trying to solve everything or give tipps. Very nice breakfast. 3 mins by car from the local marketplace or from the central road.

The only thing what I would like to point here out the very, but very laud airconditioning. Probably, because these equipments are very old, but in your proper room, but also from all neighbours a very laud noise is coming in any time. And even the airconditioning would be not necessary, because the evenings are so fresh and full of oxigene, most of the people are using it:((((( This was the only thing what disturbed me a lot and I could even hardly sleep.

- The location is close to the airport and at mid point to access the east or the west side of the island - We’ve got a spacious and cosy room. The furnitures are well maintained, surfaces clean and bed is comfortable. - Shout out to Juan who is super friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about what to do on the island and where to go. - Beach equipment rental is free which was a pleasant surprise. - Complimentary daily breakfast is simple yet filling and delicious.

- Can’t get to this property without a car. - Window sills are dusty at the corners. Not great if you are sensitive and have dust allergies.

We loved the location, close to the airport, good central access to the island. Quiet (except for roosters of course). The A/C worked. We found that having both phones playing white noise at night helped block out the roosters. Be aware you’re in a tsunami evacuation area like many of the resorts. The staff were great. The bed was comfortable (if you’re fussy about pillows, like me, buy one when you arrive. Theirs were flat & about 2 inches thick) We liked the oatmeal bar, borrowed towels, a boogie board & a cooler. We used the guest laundry & I even tried out the pool once. We got along just fine with our room. If you know what to expect you’ll probably be happy there. Traffic in Kapa’a was terrible! We were glad we weren’t staying there this time.

It’s an old property so there were things in our room that showed the age, especially anything wood that the humidity & ants have wreaked havoc on. Curtains & bathroom vanity & mirror cabinet needed replaced in our room (407). The curtains blocked the light well but weren’t in good shape. The mirror cabinet was yucky & really needs to go.

The Kauai Inn had a fantastic staff and definitely had a cozier feel than larger hotels. Our room had A/C, a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a little balcony with walls separating us from the other rooms. From the balcony on the first floor you can walk to a back area with tether ball, hacky sack, a barbecue pit, or just chilling on some of the reclining chairs. The staff also let us borrow spray on sunscreen, boogie boards, beach towels, and games. Breakfast included oatmeal, some iced danishes, and granola bars and tea and coffee are always available. We also decided not to rent a car in Kauai and used either Uber/Lyft or walked on foot. We walked to the nearest beach of Kalapaki almost everyday, which was a 15 minute walk. It definitely isn’t a walk to do at night but it was nice to do during the day when it wasn’t raining. Parking is also available for individuals who brought a rental car. As an added bonus, there are a few cats that live on the grounds that you can say hi to on occasion.

In Kauai, there are chickens almost everywhere who will crow very early in the morning and this inn is no exception. You get used to the chickens after a night or two but definitely bring earplugs if you feel that’s an issue with sleep. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay!

Brianna checked me in. I don't think I've ever met a "front desk check in person" as happy and welcoming as she was! She was there at her grandfather's request, he is the owner. At first I was a bit apprehensive since the place looked really old. But my room upstairs had a fantastic view of a mountain out of the bit window. And I had stayed at a fancy Marriott the two previous nights, and the "old Hawaii" ambiance was just so perfect. PLUS - they had a delicious homemade oatmeal and "your choice" keurig coffee, which was also available 24/7 at a covered outdoor location. I came to learn that this is an historic hotel, that coincidentally had been located on the exact location as the fancy Marriott I had just stayed at was, and the entire hotel, comprised of several two story buildings - was moved to its present location. It rained the entire day after I arrived, and while I was having coffee and oatmeal poolside, all of a sudden I looked up to see a fabulous rainbow -end to end, which just made my entire stay on The Garden Isle!!! Do not stay here if you want "fancy" but please DO stay here if you want authentic Hawaii with all the charm!! Tell them Maggie sent you :)

I wish they offered Netflix

It was more than expected, we had a great time, relaxed, without distractions. The staff does an excellent job, they are always at your service, extremely friendly and at the same time unobtrusive so that you can rest completely. It was nice that breakfast was included in the price and that coffee/tea could be used all day without extra charge. Also, all beach equipment is available free of charge.

Everything was great

This hotel felt like Hawai'i. It's laid back, friendly, welcoming, comfortable, and a deep relaxing breath. Grab tea and coffee any time to chill by the pool. Take beach towels, chairs, snorkeling equipment, body boards to the beach. Listen to the chickens crow. Laugh at the seasick cruise passengers at the nearby terminal. It's tucked between the port and a residential neighborhood, rather than a touristy downtown, but since we mainly used this as a place to rest after a day hiking or swimming, it was perfect. Thanks to all the wonderful staff for a great stay!

My husband and I really appreciated the position of the hotel (close to the airport and easily accessible from the north and from the south. The place is also extremely quiet. We loved all the equipment available to borrow for free (beach towels, snorkeling gear, wakeboard, ...) For being a continental breakfast in the US, what was included in the price was really good. The chance to get tea (with different tastes) and coffee whenever one wants and for free is another plus!

Super nice staff! Close to the airport. There was also good breakfast and parking available. Nice view, nicely taken care of. Available towels, beach equipment, games. Everything you could need for your holiday

Some nights there was very loud music from somewhere around (not within the hotel) and it was impossible to sleep. Also a bit nervous about the almost transparent windows in the bathroom.

Kauai Inn offers a lot of nice extras that we didn't expect before. For example, we could just take beach towels, snorkeling equipment and more to the beach and return them in the evening. Moreover, staff was super friendly and helpful. The evening we left, when we had already checked out in the morning, we even got invited to a small party with free drinks at the facility. Overall, it was an amazing stay!
