SpringHill Suites by Marriott Grand Rapids West

We were in the GR area for a wedding and this hotel was close to the venue. We arrived earlier than the check in time, because we had to be to the rehearsal, and the front desk gal was great! She got us our key so that we could freshen up and we greatly appreciated it after a 3 hour drive. As far as breakfast, it was just ok. They have pretend scrambled eggs and whatever you do, don't eat the sausage. Though the biscuits were good, I would have enjoyed a waffle. The bed was a little too firm for us, but the room was clean and nice. I liked the shower. But be sure to put a towel or two on the floor; somehow water manages to get out. Overall, it is a nice hotel.

I thought there would be a hot tub. There is not. I should have read the amenities a little closer.

We had to find a place to stay when the ice storm rolled through in Kalamazoo and knocked out our power. We weren’t about to leave our 55lb black lab at home, so we searched high and low for a place that would allow us to bring her. For a small fee we were able to have our whole family in a comfortable and welcoming space. The kids loved the pool area and how comfy the room was. The breakfast in the morning was a bonus!

Breakfast options could’ve been better but overall was a great stay.

The room accommodated 4 people very well. There was a huge closet/changing room, a nice office area and couch. The bathroom was huge (perfect for 4 women)! The free breakfast was simple, but enough variety for everyone. We LOVED the noon check out!! The hallways were clean and smelled clean!!

In the fitness center, only 1 treadmill was working out of 3. It was a little hard to communicate with the staff at breakfast. The one I spoke with did not speak English!!

From the moment we stepped in the entrance we were greeted with phenomenal personable customer service from Stacia! She is such an ambassador for your facility and went above and beyond to make our night perfect. Having just returned from an out of state vacation, we left in the morning and both commented that it was the perfect ending to our entire vacation. Comfortable and clean facility…. Modern… felt more expansive than it was!!! Loved having breakfast next to the outdoor fire!!

Ummm….. maybe switch back to the Paul Mitchelll toiletries… or at least one common brand …. Really, that is all!!!

The bathrooms were very spacious. When you have three girls trying to get ready for a karate tournament. You need space.

There wasn't anything that I didn't like. It was good for what we needed. If I had to pick something, it would have been the lighting. When you have small kids, they need a light left on for late night bathroom trips. That's not really even an issue not to book again.

We stayed 3 nights here. We chose this area since it was close to the shore as we were exploring new areas. The property layout is nice. I used the workout room for the treadmill access daily. The cleaners were all sweet. The front desk staff were polite.

The workout room could use a sanitizer access. The coffee selection could be much better! The smoking ashtrays for smokers should be away from the entrances.

the rooms and the hotel overall was beautiful. all the staff we interacted with was lovely. the rooms were large as well!

the bathroom doors are not solid, which meant if someone went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the light shined through the opaque glass so much it woke everyone up.

It looked like the food was probably decent. There was a large group of students (sporting event) who had demolished the food faster than it could be refilled. The staffer was doing his best against a mob of hungry kids! We were in a hurry and didn't have time to wait.

Cable TV was down as was their internet. We weren't notified at check in.

*Bathtub—-always a walk in shower preferred for safety. The tub was extremely slippery. It needed a non-slip mat, or better yet, a walk in shower *All tub/ showers need a personal shower in addition to the overhead shower head

Comfortable and happy to have a charging station.

WAY too much cleaning products used that smell horrible. I woke up in the middle of the night with an asthma attack. I mentioned the smell to the desk person and she said “oh they just cleaned, nothing we can do”. I wouldn’t stay here again.
