The house is nicely decorated and entire place is immaculately clean. We were in the Regal Room and enjoyed having the “sitting room” next to the bedroom and didn’t mind having to go outside the room a few steps to use the bathroom. which was private and lockable. We appreciated how large the bathroom was and how it is so cheerily decorated.

The breakfast consisted of a breakfast burrito or egg-Muffin sort of thing or oatmeal to pop in the microwave and Sunny D juice. Based on previous stays at B&Bs and one review that mentioned French toast, I was expecting a home-cooked meal. But short of that It would have been nice to have some fresh fruit, yogurt, snd muffins.

The Secret Place is a beautiful home, elegantly furnished and very close to the arts and music venues we were interested in seeing in Kansas City. The entire property is immaculately maintained, its very quiet, and both the bedroom and living room areas were spacious and quite comfortable. Innkeeper Sheila was very pleasant and available for anything we needed.

If you are coming for the traditional bed & breakfast experience, with a generous, full service breakfast featuring fancy dishes and pastries, this isn't it. Breakfast is self serve coffee, cereals, toast and juice. It was just fine for us for a couple of days. Also, while the property itself is wonderful, you simply need to be aware that a block away there are dilapidated homes and buildings and it has been a fairly high crime area. This property is obviously part of a major effort to clean up and revitalize the neighborhood. We had no problems, however.

The location was great, very close to downtown Kansas City, right on a bus line, and the price was far below competing properties in the area. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was entirely sufficient for my needs with a few different options provided. Staff were accommodating to a later arrival time than posted. Street parking was easily available.

I can't think of any improvements, the stay I had was excellent.

The location is excellent. It's walking distance to the 18th & Vine neighborhood and a short Uber ride to the Power & Light district. Alternately, you can take the free public transit bus. The stop is just a block away. The rooms are large and beautiful with lovely views. There's a nice back patio and porch as well a comfortable sitting room.

I would have liked more healthy choices for breakfast. Perhaps yogurt, cottage cheese, whole grain toast, and a variety of fruit could be made available for guests who prefer lighter, healthier fare.

Shelia was very nice. The Quiet Place was nicely decorated, very clean and centrally located. We loved the pictures of Sheila and her family that were on the wall. Made us feel at home.

The room was a little cold for our taste and could not find the thermostat to turn the air-con down. The thing that was most disquieting was we asked to have a late check out until 12:30 PM. We had a lunch engagement at 1:00 PM and it would have been nice to have been able to stay a little longer.

Everything was excellent. Very impressed of how nicely kept and clean the entire place is. Everything that is provided is great quality - bedding, towels, breakfast, etc.

The only drawback for us was the bathroom being located outside the room (in the hallway). However, it wasn't shared with other rooms and we had a key so we were able to leave our personal items in there. We would definitely return; however I will make sure to request a room with bathroom.

Secret place is a great name for it. You wouldn’t guess it was there and to be honest it was so much better than my expectations. The owner was super friendly and welcoming. The house is gorgeous. It’s super clean and quiet and just lovely to be in. The room (I was in the Regal room) is a great layout and the bed was super comfy. I was expecting a nice place from the listing but this was even better than expected and I would happily stay here again if I was back in the city.

Super clean bedroom and breakfast room. Great location in the Paseo with easy access to central KC.

No ensuite bathroom, though it was just outside the bedroom door with plenty of privacy since there were no guests in the other bedroom on the third floor. It would be perfectly fine for a family with kids in the other bedroom, just like at home.

The house was adorable! It was elegantly decorated and very clean. The innkeeper was a joy to talk to. (The pictures were accurate to what I stayed in.)

Parking was tight on the narrow road, but the facilities more than made up for it.

I got email saying I had check in within time frame 4:00-6:00pm. I has rush from airport to make it om time for this check in time. For a bed and breakfast we were offered microwave breakfast sandwich and yogurt.
