Comfort Inn University Durham - Chapel Hill

Breakfast was quite good considering this is a '2 star' hotel. I'd stayed in 2 other hotels in Durham (a 2-star Days Inn that was awful, and a 2.5 star OYO that was even worse). This hotel was far better than both of those. It leaves me wondering who comes up with the star rating? Why isn't this a 3? Or at least a 2.5? Anyway... good beds, nicely renovated bathrooms, overall very good value for the money.

I wish it had been more central to Downtown Durham, but that is just based on my own travel needs.

The room and facility was clean. the AC worked well, especially given it was 100 degrees outside. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of options each morning. Staff were friendly and helpful.

There was a lot of smoking going on at the pool and right outside the entrance closest to the pool. The hallway leading in from that entrance smelled like smoke as well. There were guests playing loud music with profanity at the pool our last night. That’s fine at your own home, but some people don’t want their kids around that.

Clean, comfortable, and affordable. The Jacuzzis are huge in the suites and worked great.

Front desk staff members were professional, however, one of the front desk ladies gave me a difficult time when I asked for an extra towel and washcloth on Fri, August 5 at night (older black lady). She wanted me to call housekeeping at 8AM for extra towels and washcloths. I basically had to beg and explain why I needed extra towels and washcloths, and then I had to send my wife to ask Being a military Navy veteran, I've traveled and stayed at many hotels and this was the first time ever that a hotel clerk had a problem with giving me extra towels and washcloths. She could use a refresher training on customer service, but maybe she was just aggravated and having a bad night. I don't know.

Everything was up to par - the room, the breakfast, the location. The staff was friendly and helpful, doing their best as they seem to be stretched thin. We were pulling a trailer with a tandem kayak and the hotel said that was no problem and found room for us in the parking lot.

It seemed that they were short staffed. We had to wait to check in. We didn't have enough coffee in the room and we found cold coffee in the breakfast area. There were some sketchy folks in the parking lot the night that we checked in.

Employees at check in/check out were very helpful and very kind. A/C cooled the room quickly. Easy access to coffee, tea, and hot chocolate 24/7. Employees that were cleaning were extremely friendly, and accommodating, over the top! They should be complimented! The beds were so comfortable, I give them a 10.

The water pressure was terrible. It made it difficult to get soap out of long hair. There were no hangers or places to hang clothes. Definitely need better lighting, especially in the bathroom.

Standard issue hotel done right. Easy check in, comfortable rooms with the basics, clean, nice included breakfast with a couple hot options in a room near the front, basic but nice exercise room in a random room on the fourth floor. Mattress and linens and blankets were nice. Bathroom was clean and functional. Hot water and nice shower head pressure. Small little decor elements completed the room. Liked the USB and power outlets built into the lamps. All great value for a fair price.

The pillows were way too springy. The whole building felt dated and old despite being well kept. The exercise room was a little sad feeling with its multipurpose-room type carpeting. But these are minor nitpicks. The price was right, and it definitely provided.

Like the location and the price. I also like the bed and the pillow very comfortable after a long day trip.

what I don't like was got a room close to the elevator (about 2 room distance next to the elevator) so whenever the elevator is being use, somehow you can hear the sound from that. Also, some noises come from people slash the door. But it's not that frequent and I was too tired so the sleep overnight was still good.

Breakfast offered some hot options as well has cold, refreshing after a year where a bagged cold breakfast was the norm. It was located close to the main lobby. The hotel was clean, and our room very clean as well. The Bed was very comfortable, and the shower had strong water pressure.People at front desk very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

I can’t think of anything we didn’t like.

Check in was simple. The room was clean and comfortable. I look for the CQS rating. Cleanliness, Quiet and Safe to make my judgement. Towels were plentiful and high quality

Parking was a bit of an issue with several large trucks taking up multiple spaces and there was no tourist information available

I would like to have seen bacon. We really enjoyed being right next-door to the Japanese restaurant. That was a lot of fun.

The bathroom was very clean and very nice but very tiny not enough counter space just a tiny vanity for two people. That was the only negative for this trip.
