The hotel is pretty cool, it's a historic building, I think, that has been refurbished. It has a 'Pacific Northwest' vibe, The Pacific Standard restaurant/bar in the lobby area is a huge win for this spot, otherwise, I'm not sure I'd recommend as highly. I had the large king premium room, and the bed was super duper comfy - very important! I slept like a baby. The rooms and the bathroom are a bit dark, which I normally like, but for putting on makeup, I had to use the window facing the street. It's a somewhat gritty area, but lots of bars and restaurants in the area - nearby my favorite spa 'Knot Springs.' I would not recommend walking alone at night in this neighborhood, but perfectly fine in the daytime or if you plan to Uber. No parking onsite - I parked in a nearby garage - I would not use street parking. Someone was bashing in a car window one day while I was there - it's not a safe neighborhood to leave your car. There is no bell service, you pretty much have to unload/load your own vehicle. Staff was ok - not super helpful, but got the job done, I guess.

The person on staff seemed pretty unfamiliar with parking options around the area - pretty important when you are driving into town, especially that part of town. Maybe more education for the staff on that point. It is DIY on luggage - no offers to assist with heavy luggage. The rooms and the hallways are very dark. If you have poor eyesight or just need a brighter room for a bit, it's not ideal.

Lovely place, clean and stylish. It's an old building but redecorated within all details in a modern way using noble materials, it doesn't feel old at all. The Sauna is a fantastic extra service, I love it. The bar is a great space to hang out or to have modern drinks and tap beers. The location is great, near to restaurants, minimarket, the convention center and a bus stop that take you to other good places of the city.

Stylish hotel. I liked that the lobby lounge was chill and relax during the day, like the city's living room. A good place to sit and wait out a rain shower while doing a little work.

The pedestal sink was cool and old, but way too short and I am only average height and the basin itself badly needed reglazing and looked gross. There was no minifridge in the room, which was an inconvenience. There were six pillows on the bed but they were all too limp and flat. One good pillow is better than six flattened feather pillows.

The bed was super comfy, pillows were soft, staff was very accommodating, bathrooms were kept very clean. Pacific Standard was the best part with their amazing food and delicious cocktails!

Room was extremely small, 3rd floor room and window was able to fully open (kind of scary), water provided tasted dirty and gross (probably just Portland water), and I could use the elevator to go down, but it would never take me up which wrecked my knees pretty bad taking the stairs every time.

Impressive location, the bar and everything, of course nothing special about the rooms, just well kept and minimally stylish bulkbed room. great place to work in the lobby/bar. Internet was great, a lot of outlets available, I definitely would go again to spend a few days. bathrooms were nice, there were a bunch, never had to wait. Water was hot and plentyful.

GREAT room set up for a family - 4 bunk beds, a queen bed and a couch/coffee table and mini fridge. Traveled as a family of 5 and there was plenty of space for us!

Not much! It was lovely to have coffee in the mornings and I appreciated that the staff told us to park on the street versus find a garage. It is a quiet enough area that street parking was pretty easy to find and inexpensive.

great design, throughout. clean. comfy (though rooms are very small, so take that into account). friendly staff. great walk in the river.

Thought shared bathroom meant with only one other room, but more like a hostel. to be fair, not once did we have a problem getting to use a bathroom( the floor was not full), so really, this is not a complaint, just a reminder to be sure you are fine not having your own bathroom.

I loved the welcoming staff, the vibe was comfortable and kind of swanky. our queen suite was perfect for a girls weekend because we could stay together in one room, had plenty of space and our own bathroom. it was also nice that we could use a shared bath, if needed.

The biggest issue wasn’t actually about the property itself but that they neglected to share the hours of the that the parking garage they suggested because it interrupted our early morning plans. Now I know to ask that question the next time I stay somewhere.

Extremely cute room, absolutely perfect for a group of travellers. We got on great with the bunk beds. The location was extremely convenient. The rooftop bar and ground floor restaurant were both cute.

There were no facilities to prepare or eat food in the room - although there was a mini fridge. I completely understand that they are not looking to be an apartment-style hotel but a kettle and mugs would have been great just so we could make tea or coffee.

We had such a great stay at KEX while traveling for work. The folks at reception were incredibly helpful and accommodating, the room was so much more beautiful than I expected, and the restaurant and bar were truly fabulous! The ambiance was really exceptional, and the cocktails and food were delicious.

Parking is difficult in this area but that can be said for most of Portland. There really isn't anything else that was negative, we had a great stay overall!
